From the book "A Christian Approach to Doomsday Prepping"

Hebrews 11:7 KJV
7. By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith

Look at the phrases:
  1. Noah...
  2. Warned of God of things not seen as yet...
  3. Moved with fear...
  4. Prepared (prepped) and ark...
  5. To the saving of his house...

His act of preparation in building an ark was a testimony to the world of what was coming. God counted his work of preparation as faith and righteousness. Believing God and acting on that belief is faith. In this case, Noah acted in common sense of fear what was coming. He knew the dam was about to burst, and he acted like anyone with sense would act. He prepared! This was not a fear born of doubt. This was a fear born of faith. He believed God. His actions saved his house. His wife, his sons, and his sons' wives would have all perished had Noah not acted on his belief about what was coming. He was mocked and ridiculed by the unbelievers. He no doubt was called an alarmist and had it been today he would have been called a fear monger. Yet his actions saved his life and the lives of his family. If he did not have faith to prep and build the ark how would he have faired as the waves overcame him and his family? His faith would not have lifted him up out of the deluge. Will your faith create food out of nothing? Will your faith save you from freezing cold and burning heat? Does it now? Do you have the faith to quit your job and just live on nothing today during relatively good times? If you cannot do it now, what will you do when the truly hard times come?

I don’t believe Noah was scared, he was just doing the will of God.
To me he looked like todays ”conspiracytheorist” who is someone nobody believes and he is ridiculed and mocked by others.

Very much like Lot in Sodom and Gomorrah.
Gen 19
14 So Lot went out and said to his sons-in-law, who were to marry his daughters, “Up! Get out of this place, for the Lord is about to destroy the city.” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be jesting.

Interesting that there have been 130+ views in 3 hours, but only 1 person responded. I wonder how the views are calculated.

That is interesting. I'm >pretty< sure they go up by 1 every time someone opens to click on it, so you can escalate your own views if you wanted to or accidentally if you have OCD. (not saying that is the case in this case, I just believe it to be true and I noticed it myself on one of my threads, because I have a bit of the latter) Could also be autobot crawlers of some sort, or genuine interest without the time or will to comment.

I considered the autobot thing also. Maybe it runs to and fro across the forum looking for questionable activity.

OK, I'll respond.

  • I don't see anywhere in the Bible, Old or New Testament, that speaks of people "mocking and ridiculing Noah." I DO see in the New Testament, Matthew 24, where the people of Noah's day just went about their daily lives and daily business - "eating, drinking, marrying, and giving their children in marriage" and it says they did this RIGHT UP to the day that Noah and his family entered the ark. This tells me that people didn't really pay attention to what Noah was doing.

  • Also, in my reading of this story for myself, I don't see Noah building the ark because he was prepper or terrified of what was coming. Noah built the ark because God told him to and gave him VERY explicit instructions. Had God not told him to build the ark, are you suggesting that Noah would have come up with the idea all by himself and rounded up all the animals? God brought the animals to Noah and the ark.
I don't see Noah as a prepper. He was a righteous man who heard God's instructions and obeyed to the nth degree. Was it a frightening time? I'm sure it was. But the ark was not his "common sense" idea.

It was God's holy plan. Noah heard and obeyed.

There is a very big difference between Noah and todays preppers.

He was told to build an Ark.

Christians today are told to live in the world, but not to be part of the world as our cityenship is in heaven.

Material involvement in the world is as wrong as isolation from he world.

Dont see in Scripture where there were mockers but they're in most every group. For openers, Noah could have preached for about 100 years. Outside his immediate family. Noah didn't have anyone else who converted. Can you imagine how that would be used by mockers today? But God considered him a preacher of righteousness (II Peter 2:5).

Those who prep today are criticized. Understand our spiritual state is most important. But we've been warned, too.

I see the scripture:

Your original post and this one are making it sound as if the ark was Noah's idea alone in response to a quaking and cowardly fear of a flood.

It wasn't. He was in a holy fear of God and GOD gave him the charge to build the ark and the VERY detailed instructions.

Prepared does not mean prepped as in you are using the word.

Well, nothing about quaking with fear here. Just the scripture.

Noah likely wouldn't have been mocked. The ark project, as were the pyramids, would have been a source of employment for thousands of workers and suppliers, and would have been known far and wide. As it wasn't a ship but a large building the idea of a coming flood wouldn't have entered anyone's mind outside of Noah's family. That people went about their usual daily lives also indicates that there was no alarm.
