I have to wonder if a year and a half ago someone would have predicted that there would posts like this implying that something responsible for nearly 1 out of 8 deaths in older people would be no big deal. In case you didn't realize it. This thread pertains to the U.S.. The U.S. doesn't include 3rd world countries; even though some Imperialists do think that way.

The death rate on other matters is only irrelevant to those who want to isolate one piece of data from the whole picture.
It is if the comparison of death rates from other causes is greater. The survival rate of under 65 is what, 99%. It is doubtful that 99% of people in train accidents survive.

No adult should need to have this explained, but neither cancer nor train accidents are communicable. That is why they are irrelevant to assessing risk in relation to covid. You need to have some actual methodology behind your comparisons, if you want to make a point.

So, more than one out of ten old people dying of the same communicable disease doesn't raise an eyebrow for you? That's not something we should maybe take measures to prevent?

If you look at trending the rate was higher earlier and has leveled out at the current 2%. Current.

That 2% still includes those earlier deaths.

And, as i've posted, for most demographics under 60 years old, the fatality rate is < .2%

It was claimed that 1 out of 8 deaths is supposed to mean nothing to those who question the vaccine hype and the obvious counter is the pro vacciners ignore the other 7 deaths. I mentioned that covid isn’t close to main killer of those over 65. But the other causes are unimportant to that group.

The scariest part of all of this is the willingness of some to surrender all rights to save them from a virus that is only somewhat risky if you are over 80. All hard won rights are being laid down and those who do so insist everyone else do so too. It’s very scary.

Anecdotes need statistical corroboration to be really useful.

Otherwise we can be mislead by all the millions of people who would have gotten sick/hurt in a similar non vax period of their life.

Not saying I know nothings happening. But lets keep our heads glued on, people.

This report and these incidents deserve equal time and media attention to all of the millions spent paying celebrities to encourage people to get it. Let's hear ALL of the evidence. Not just what supports our bias.

Again, you mangle the data and utterly fail to understand what is in front of you.

The 1 of 8 are the old people who died of COVID.
The 7 of 8 are the old people who died of everything else.

The 7 of 8 would have died anyway. They represent the normal death rate in this age group. The 1 of 8 are people who would have survived the year without the COVID pandemic.

If the normal number of deaths in this group were 70,000 per year, then last year there were 80,000. The normal 70,000 plus 10,000 extra COVID deaths.

A 13% increase in total death count in *any* demographic for a single year is an outrageous change.

No can listen to every tale a possible adverse vaccine effect. Nor every tale of getting the vax and remaining covid symptom free. Not possible.

Probabilities drawn from carefully sampled data reveal risk. Not anecdote.

My sense is people are latching onto a few scary cases and then thinking theyve got a handle on the actual risks of taking (or avoiding) the vaxxes. Anecdote is worse than nothing when approached that way.

Depends on lots of things, but looking at overall statistics for the US population on average it is many orders of magnitude higher than having any significant side effects from the vaccine.
