  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — SpaceX successfully launched an advanced GPS satellite for the U.S. Space Force today (Thursday June 17), marking the 19th launch of the year here on the Space Coast.

The next two GPS missions, which are already scheduled to fly on SpaceX rockets sometime next year, will now launch atop refurbished rockets. All of this is great news for SpaceX, as the company has been relying heavily on its fleet of veteran rockets, with many Falcon 9 first stages having racked up five or more flights each.

Out of 19 missions so far this year, only one has featured a brand new Falcon 9; the rest were on flight-proven boosters. It's also great news for Space Force and taxpayers as flying on reused rockets translates to a savings of nearly $53 million across the two flights (GPS III-SV05 and GPS III-SV06), Space Force officials said. - SpaceX launches advanced GPS satellite for US Space Force, sticks rocket landing at sea | Space

How does SpaceX recover boosters with such amazing accuracy?

1. Experience
2. Amazingly engineered rockets

After retrieving the rocket an inspection and refueling may be all that needed for yet another reusable launch. Amazing feat without a parachute! The first stage is designed to be recovered after taking the rocket through the maxQ, after that the second stage is too high and traveling too fast.

Watch a SpaceX booster land in awesome drone ship footage… This is an incredible feat considering….

1. The first stage is not aerodynamic
2. The sea is not stable
3. The landing craft is very small
4. Wind gusts are unpredictable

How is this done?

1. Experience
2. Amazingly engineered rockets!

Aspects of this are more impressive than the moon landing, which had the advantage of human control.

Yeah Newton was ahead of his time, it has taken this long for us to actually take advantage of his insight. :) Of course it seems to have taken some understanding of post Newtonian physics to allow us to create computers that could take advantage of this. :)
