CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

But here's one very important point about this whole thing. Much of the finger pointing by people who want to make this seem like a well-oiled revolution try to prove it by pointing at something that one or several persons did.
THAT does not prove anything, and it's irresponsible, yet we've repeatedly witnessed huge segments of the American public being vilified as if they did something or other on January 6.
Whatever else might be said, it's only a small number of people --and of different political leanings -- who actually were involved, no matter what the commentators are trying to sell.

BTW I looked again at the picture of the "gallows", and you can't hang anyone with that design it would fall apart the minute you put 100 lbs on it. It is not supported properly looks like it may be made from 2x4s but if 4x4s the additional weight would make it more unstable on top. In other words it isn't a working gallows but rather a PROP.

If Donald's January 6 supporters were burdened with an overabundance of education or competence, they never would've stormed the Capitol in the first place.

Of course, but it clearly is also far away from the Capitol building. It is very wrong to try to associate the many people who showed up to hear the President's speech with the other and much smaller group that moved against the Capitol even before the speech was over.

This is a matter of defending the right of Congress to peacefully carry out their Constitutional duties. It has nothing to do with "left" or "right".
I don't care what you think BLM or any other group did.
These individuals, and the leaders who supported them...(and those who downplay their actions) will be held accountable.
