  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I believe the documented facts, which have resulted in over 400 arrests so far.

Has there ever been another day where Capitol police had to arrest 400 "tourists?" SMH.

This is not surprising. Republicans were ok with Russia hijack our democracy and manipulate our election result as long as their guy in charge. You think they would object the so called Americans hijack our democracy and install their guy?

How do you figure that?
"In a recent interview with Fox News, Trump said the rioters posed “zero threat.” Other prominent Republicans, such as Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, have publicly doubted whether Trump supporters were behind the riot."

As time goes by people forget, reinterpret, deny and distort.

What do you believe happened in Washington on January 6, 2021?

You said that as time goes by, people reinterpret. Most often they reinterpret to their own advantage and/or in accord with their existing political leanings.

With that in mind, which political faction (Left or Right, "Progressive" or Conservative, Democratic or Republican) talks about this event almost non-stop and makes it a major part of its election campaigning, etc.??

Not a difficult question to answer, is it?

I don't think Fox News and the majority of prominent Republicans care to have the truth, to begin with in regards to what happened on January 6th. So, I'm not sure it is slipping away so much as for them, it was never true to begin with.

Actually, the issue is bigger than that.

If a hundred people who like President Trump -- along with some others who hold other political views -- attacked the Capitol, how is that different from the thousands of Leftists who burned, looted, attacked government buildings, and injured people on many occasions last summer...

and are almost never mentioned, unless it's done with admiration, by people who are so desperate to keep their own version of what happened on January 6 endlessly before the public?

I know some Trump supporters who refuse to acknowledge the siege on the Capitol. I consider them to be in stubborn denial and defiant, despite being shown actual photos, articles with photos, videos of the rioters (i.e. chanting "Hang Mike Pence!"), and multiple articles about all of the FBI arrests.

Sorry if you guys don’t like being reminded of the time the former president assembled a mob to attack the Congress and VP for not giving him the election he lost. Maybe if the GOP had stood up to Trump’s lies either before or even after the attacks instead of defending them every step of the way they wouldn’t need to be constantly reminded of the real cost of those lies.

I think it was a minor incident that is (as usual) blown way out of proportion.
The left has played this card too many times to take anything that they claim as serious...... seriously.
