  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Great, so what does that mean for women's uncleanness after having a child?

What does that mean for mixing livestock?

What does that mean for disfiguring your beard?
I will answer your questions after you address mine as I have answered much of yours already. Are God's 10 commandments moral laws of our duty of love to God and our fellow man in the new covenant if not why not if so how? (scripture please)

You were indeed answered and shown that these laws are to do with health and hygiene and therefore moral laws of right doing

So why didn't you say so?

So then, I am guessing she woudn't have to do this part?

6 ‘When the days of her purification are fulfilled, whether for a son or a daughter, she shall bring to the priest a lamb of the first year as a burnt offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove as a sin offering, to the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 7 Then he shall offer it before the Lord, and make atonement for her. And she shall be clean from the flow of her blood. This is the law for her who has borne a male or a female.

Yes. Jewish believers keep the whole law.
For gentiles, no. The ten commandments were in the covenant with Israel. Now some may still be moral commands in the new covenant, but not in the form given to Israel.

Alright, your turn again, what about livestock?

Disfiguring your beard?

Animal sacrifices are no longer a requirement for new covenant believers. Jesus is God's sacrifice for the sins of the world once and for all.

I noticed you have not provided any scripture to support your view here of which I disagree. How can your claims be true here that Gods' 10 commandments are only for ISRAEL under the new covenant when Gods' new covenant promise is to God's ISRAEL *Hebrews 8:10-12; from Jeremiah 31:31-34? Do you know who God's ISRAEL are in the new covenant according to the scriptures?

So in your view God has a different law for Jews and a different set for Gentiles. What do you think the meaning of these scriptures are saying...

GOD'S ISRAEL ARE ALL THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND FOLLOW GOD'S WORD (The Church)

There is no such thing as Jew or Greek anymore. All who believe and follow God's Word are one in Christ. Israel in the OLD COVENANT were those from the seed of Abraham. In the NEW COVENANT, if you are in Christ then you are Abrahams seed and heirs according to the promise...

EPHESIANS 2:11-13 [11], Why remember, that you being in TIME PAST Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

[12], That AT THAT TIME [in the Past] YOU WERE WITHOUT CHRIST, BEING ALIENS FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF ISRAEL, STRANGERS FROM THE COVENANT OF PROMISE, HAVING NO HOPE, AND WITHOUT GOD IN THE WORLD: [13], BUT NOW IN CHRIST JESUS, YOU WHO WERE FAR OFF ARE MADE NEAR BY THE BLOOD OF CHRIST.

GALATIANS 3:28-29 [28], THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: FOR YOU ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS AND IF YOU BE CHRISTS, THEN YOU ARE ABRAHAM'S SEED FOR YOU ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS [29], and IF YOU BE CHRISTS, THEN ARE YOU ABRAHAM'S SEED, AND HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE.

God's true ISRAEL in the NEW COVENANT are not by name only but all those in Christ. Those of the FLESH (sinful human nature) are not Abrahams seed but those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God in Christ are God's ISRAEL...

ROMANS 9:6-8 [6], FOR THEY ARE NOT ALL ISRAEL WHICH ARE OF ISRAEL,: [7], NEITHER, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SEED OF ABRAHAM, ARE THEY ALL CHILDREN: but in Isaac shall thy seed be called <Christ> [8], That is, THEY WHICH ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE FLESH, THESE ARE NOT THE CHILDREN OF GOD: BUT THE CHILDREN OF THE PROMISE <those who believe> ARE COUNTED FOR THE SEED.

God's ISRAEL are all those in CHRIST that have been given a NEW HEART according to the NEW COVENANT promise...

ROMANS 2:28-29 [28], FOR HE IS NOT A JEW WHICH IS ONE OUTWARDLY; NEITHER IS THAT CIRCUMCISION, WHICH IS OUTWARDS IN THE FLESH: [29], BUT HE IS A JEW WHICH IS ONE INWARDLY; and CIRCUMCISION IS OF THE HEART, IN THE SPIRIT, AND NOT IN THE LETTER; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

In the NEW COVENANT all those in Christ are are God's ISRAEL...

COLOSSIANS 3:11 [11], WHERE THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: BUT CHRIST IS ALL IN ALL.

ROMANS 10:11-13 [11], For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. [12], FOR THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JEW OR GREEK: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. [13], FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.

The New Covenant is for God's Israel...

EZEKIEL 36:26-27 [26], A NEW HEART WILL I GIVE YOU, AND A NEW SPIRIT WILL I PUT WITHIN YOU; AND I WILL TAKE AWAY THE STONY HEART OUT OF YOUR FLESH, AND GIVE YOU A HEART OF FLESH. [27], AND I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU, AND CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN MY STATUTES AND YOU SHALL KEEP MY JUDGEMENTS AND DO THEM.

and again...

JEREMIAH 31:33-34 [33], BUT THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL; After those days, says the LORD, I WILL PUT MY LAW IN THEIR INWARD PARTS,AND WRITE IT IN THEIR HEARTS; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. [34], And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Paul proclaims it here...

HEBREWS 8:10-12 [10], BUT THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL; After those days, says the LORD, I WILL PUT MY LAW IN THEIR INWARD PARTS, AND WRITE IT IN THEIR HEARTS; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: [11], And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. [12], For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

The NEW COVENANT is for GOD'S ISRAEL which represent those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God’s WORD.

If you are not part of GOD'S ISRAEL then you are not a part of the NEW COVENANT (Hebrews 8:10-12).

............

CONCLUSION: God's ISRAEL is the name given by God to all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. GENTILES are now grafted in. If you are not a part of the God's ISRAEL then you have no part in the NEW COVENANT.

I think we see in Acts 15 and Acts 21 they make it clear that Gentiles do not have to be circumcised and keep the law of Moses. Jewish believers continued to.

Maybe you didn't read it. I already provided Scripture.
No. maybe you provided the wrong link? I did read it. Ephesians 6 does not have anything to do with what we are discussing and does not support your view you presented where you claim God's 10 commandments are only for ISRAEL which was shown not to be true in the scriptures provided in post # 965 and post # 967 linked

Of course it has to do with what we are speaking. Maybe you didn't understand it. You asked:

Then I pointed to the following:

I would argue that Ephesians 6 is a good example of how it did not include the ten in their original context. Paul re-frames the promise to apply to gentiles outside the promised land. Whereas in its original context it applied to Israel in the promised land. Which is a good example of "moral" principle in the law applying, but not the aspects relating the the context of Israel.

Alright, your turn again, what about livestock?

Specifically we are discussing the 10 commandments and no these scriptures do not relate to our discussion and as shown in the new covenant scriptures provided in post # 965 and post # 967 linked that disagree with your posts application and claims here that Gods' 10 commandments are only for old covenant ISRAEL. This was the reason I asked from the start if you could support your answers with scripture. You provided no scripture definitions on who God's ISRAEL is in the new covenant and your application that the 10 commandments are only for old covenant ISRAEL is in conflict to who the new covenant promise is made to in Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Hebrews 8:10-12. How do you address the questions asked you in post 965 or the scriptures that disagree with your interpretation of who ISRAEL is in post # 967 under the new covenant promise? - You cannot.

Guess you don't know Ephesians 6?
Guess I must know it better then you think if you believe this supports your claims that God's 10 commandments are not given to new covenant ISRAEL and your not sure who new covenant ISRAEL is. All of God's 10 commandments are repeated all through the new covenant as a requirement and standard of Christian living (e.g. scripture support here and here)

You didn't even know it dealt with the ten a moment ago.It is not the ten of Exodus. He changed the promise.
Well that is not true. My application was to your claims that the 10 commandments was only given to old covenant ISRAEL. Ephesians 6 does not support your view and neither do the new covenant scriptures already provided to you that disagree with you in the linked posts in post # 965 and post # 967 linked from what I can see. The promises are the Word of God and Gods new covenant promise to ISRAEL as defined in the scriptures in post # 967 above as shown in Hebrews 8:10-12; from Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Ezekiel 36:24-27. The promise of God's new covenant is His law written on the heart to love that is expressed in obedience to God's law not breaking them. Thanks for the discussion I have some things to do now perhaps we can chat more latter.
