In my case Premil was the default eschatology in my local congregation. When I rejected Premil I simply moved to the next default position which was Amil. Postmil never entered my mind because I assumed it was liberal, man centered and based on the ability of man to convert the world. Doug Wilson has had a big impact on me and helped me move toward Postmil.
