  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you give all your money away how can you lend it to others?

Because Jesus said if you put the Kingdom of heaven first God will add Unto you. And with this we must continuously help people and God will continue to add unto you.

I have taken it all into account there is nowhere in the Bible that Jesus says that we should keep our wealth and become rich.

1 John 2:6 Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

And Jesus said: Luke 9:58 Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

Do you have a dollar figure for 'wealth'?

If you give all your money away how can you lend it to others? Also it is implicit in the statement that you must continually lend to others. You can't do this if you have no money.

Deuteronomy 4:31
For the LORD your God is a merciful God; He will not abandon you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers, which He swore to them by oath.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or terrified of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you."

No It’s not about a specific figure.

Mark 12:41
41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

I don't want to have a scripture duel with you. Let's part as friends and respect each other's opinion.

My overall point is you must continuously give away your unrighteous wealth meaning material possessions and God will continue to add unto you regarding the needs he knows you have.

I'm curious, you're using a phone, tablet or computer. Shouldn't you have given it away by now in keeping with your own teaching?

First off don’t follow me I’m merely pointing out what Jesus said and what the Bible says I am not the Messiah. Secondly this Internet connection could be mine could be someone else’s I could be at an Internet cafe. So I wouldn’t judge me based on that. And thirdly you are meeting the fact that I have stated if you give up all and continuously give to all that ask God will add your needs unto you He did not say you were live in a box and die of starvation.

There's a trend I've seen here, where someone will strongly preach regarding things like possessions or works, which inevitably leads to someone asking them if they practice what they preach, and they say something like "this isn't about me". Which I interpret as them not wanting to say, because they aren't practicing what they preach.

Now first off I have practiced what I preached But I think the trend you’re seeing is people trying to make it about the preacher so that they don’t have to do it themselves. The one you have to follow is Jesus not the preacher don’t try and make the preacher the excuse for not following Jesus this excuse will not stand on the great and terrible day of the Lord. For even if people do not practice what they preach Jesus himself said:

Matthew 23:3
So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

Looks like you’ve heard nothing I have said you must look at yourself not judge others. I have already answered your question I will not go through every petty question you wish to ask me about my life and financial situation in this public forum. If you have a question regarding Jesus philosophy I will answer it.

But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them." I didn't realize that you answered me. I didn't see a quote with my question or name in it.

Also, in my life, action speaks louder than words. I have seen only words from you, not how you have put your preaching into practice.

I have talked with my priest about this before. He agrees with others that said this teaching is not binding on Christians unless the Holy Spirit has put it on your heart to do so. I don't have much wealth. I do have a computer that I own, a tablet for work, my car to get back and forth to work. I have no savings and the majority of my paycheck goes towards health insurance that I am court ordered to provide for my children and child support from a divorce that the o ly part I had in was to be sure that I got fair access to my kids.

So, I have nothing to give, but will give to charity here and there when I can spare it.

I'm poor as dirt. My apartment, which is a cheap old hotel room, isn't much bigger than a jail cell and its only amenity is a washbowl. But I can still be more attached to the things of this world than I am to Jesus.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" Matthew 6:33

It's that simple.

Examples of what?

So as you can see even if a person did not practice what they preach you must do what they say because they are only telling you what Jesus said you cannot use them as an excuse not to follow what Jesus said.

It’s not about charity it’s about Putting God before your money But having faith that he will provide.

If you’re doing something beneficial you believe will bless others there’s no reluctance in acknowledging it and sharing your process.

I’m in the middle of redecorating and organizing my home. I’ve spoken candidly about the challenges and shared tips for others desiring the same. They received cost and time saving solutions too. That’s more useful than a suggestion with no input.

The benefit is in the words of Jesus. I am not about to reveal personal information on a public forum such as this. I have already answered the question If you wish to divulge personal information in public forum such as this go ahead but we decorating your house is not personal information telling me your financial situation and history this would be personal information and this is what you’re asking for. Anyways no matter what I see there is no way to corroborate what I’m saying is there so what is the purpose.
