Dominion Sues Giuliani for $1.3 billion over 'Big Lie'

Dominion Voting Systems is seeking more than $1.3 billion in damages.

"Just as Giuliani and his allies intended, the Big Lie went viral on social media as people tweeted, retweeted, and raged that Dominion had stolen their votes. While some lies -- little lies -- flare up on social media and die with the next news cycle, the Big Lie was different," lawyers for Dominion wrote in the lawsuit, filed in DC District Court on Monday morning. "The harm to Dominion's business and reputation is unprecedented and irreparable because of how fervently millions of people believe it."

The lawsuit notes that while Giuliani spread falsehoods about Dominion being owned by Venezuelan communists and corrupting the election, he did not make those claims in lawsuits he pushed on behalf of Trump.

It's interesting to see how Dominion is separating this from the Sidney Powell situation in the suit. The case sets out how Giuliani talked a lot about Dominion on TV appearances, but Dominion does not appear in any of the legal filings Giuliani made on behalf of Trump, and Giuliani took pains to explicitly exclude Powell from 'the president's legal team'. I think it's a clever way to indicate that Giuliani knew these claims were false.

There's also a lot of funny screencaps of Giuliani shilling for cigars and title insurance that I think are just for spite.

LOL!! When the camera is not on---That's Trump talking!!! I've heard some unedited tapes and every other word was profanity!! I found him disgusting back in 1990 before he started all this political stuff! When I heard he was running for President I thought nobody can possibly believe this man! I was wrong. I thought Americans would see right through him---they didn't. And still, though he did not pardon his most ardent believer's, it's still only those he totally scammed and not stood behind him, only those are getting it---the rest are still besotted!!
I totally do not understand the attraction---especially by Christians!! I'm neither Republican, nor Democrats, I vote by character. This man has none!

I purposely did not choose chickens---those are vultures---the very ones that stuck by Trump, and still do to get as much from all this that they can. Chickens are more discerning than vultures, didn't want to insult them. My brother raised chickens, they have personalities, Vultures just hang around to eat the dead.

I'm not sure why Giuliani was not disbarred months ago for many other actions that should have provoked this. But, I do think he has finally gotten their attention.

Well it's interesting... some of the followers I'm sure are realizing they've been lied to. I know the Proud Boys didn't like it when he publicly called for things to stop post riot but pre-inauguration. They supported him vigorously and now they are FBI targets. Some of the QAnons are waking up to the fact that nothing promised was true and everything they were told has been lies. I can't imagine what that's going to be like.

It's likely everyone associated with him will be watching him throw them under the bus to try and save himself during the impeachment trial and subsequent prosecutions, probably disavowing a lot of them and pretty much everything he said or did or encouraged during the last several years and shifting blame to them where ever he can.

Some will have lost (or are about to lose) everything whether because they believed the lie and in the name of true patriotism, or that they understood the character, the lie and the opportunity, rallied for him, and then were turned on. None will be very happy...

He basically tried to steal the election, start a Coup and prevent the election certification. Eventually, it's possible he will be impeached and left without Secret Service protection. Sure not all (or even most) of his followers or former allies will feel this way, but... there were an awful lot of them to begin with. And the ones who feel this way will feel very strongly about it.

He did this to Mike Pence, which nearly got him torn limb from limb lol. Now, Mike Pence seems to be a pretty (actually an unbelievably) forgiving guy, but he was also one of his most loyal allies! Can you imagine what he's done (or is about to do) to others? Giuliani included?

USA demands the truth!" Trump wrote at 2:24 p.m. ET as the mob of his supporters was breaching the building.

Trump's words had the effect of turning Pence into the enemy. Several insurrectionists shared online that they hoped to kill or wound the vice president, and chants of "Hang Mike Pence" could be heard throughout the Capitol during the riot.

*sighs* These things and this kind of behavior and character have consequences, you know? Especially when working with some of the more unsavory elements, which Trump definitely has.

Yeah, but it's ultimately meaningless. Not being part of the NY Bar association doesn't have any effect on his ability to practice law in NY. It's more a of a professional organization. If he's kicked out of the NY Bar Association, he is still a recognized lawyer in NY.

Yes, the appellate Division of State Supreme Court can appoint a committee which can discipline an attorney with an array of of things from an admonishment (minor) to complete revocation of their license to practice law.

Dominion has now also sued MyPillow guy and his company. $1.3 billion is again the magic number.

Dominion is seeking more than $1.3 billion from Lindell, a staunch Trump supporter. The company says Lindell contributed to a “viral disinformation campaign” about Dominion on social media, in broadcast interviews, at public pro-Trump rallies and in a two-hour documentary about election fraud — entitled “Absolute Proof” — that he created and paid to air on One America News.

The 115-page complaint, filed in federal court in the District, alleges that Lindell, a “talented salesman,” used falsehoods about Dominion to promote MyPillow to fellow Trump supporters. It names both Lindell and his company as defendants and outlines several instances in which Lindell used appearances on conservative media to hawk his products.

Dominion sent multiple letters to Lindell, warning that he was putting himself in legal jeopardy by spreading lies about the company.

“Despite having been specifically directed to the evidence and sources disproving the Big Lie, Lindell knowingly lied about Dominion to sell more pillows to people who continued tuning in to hear what they wanted to hear about the election,” the complaint says.

Giuliani said he welcomed the court fight after Dominion sued last month.

A detailed account of efforts to serve Giuliani, which was provided to the Daily News by a source, told a different story. A doorman, knowing process servers were looking for Giuliani, locked the door to the building whenever the former mayor entered the lobby.

On Feb. 7, a pair of process servers and Giuliani got into an awkward standoff during a nasty winter storm. That morning, the doorman to the building waved to a Ford Explorer SUV parked down the street. Giuliani got in the passenger seat and closed the SUV door as a process server lunged forward with a bag full of documents.

“This is not the way it’s supposed to be done. You should have gone to my office,” Giuliani said, according to the account. The lawsuit was lodged between the SUV door.
