Utah activist John Sullivan arrested for involvement in Capitol riot

Last summer, the BLM protest in Provo, Utah ended in violence as several protesters opened fire on an elderly couple who blundered their way into the protest because a road hadn't been properly closed off.

Someone who was involved in the protest has been arrested as part of the Capitol riot. He's saying that he was just there to film it, but so far no one I've spoken to believes it.

Someone who was involved in the protest has been arrested as part of the Capitol riot. He's saying that he was just there to film it, but so far no one I've spoken to believes it.

Well hopefully if he was there to film it his videos will provide evidence of his innocence.

He's is the founder of an organization called Insurgence USA that was created in September and edited extensively to promote him being a leftist after the riot. The site now claims "its entire reason for being" is to honor the life of Gorge Floyd." I didn't misspell his name. That's how the site spells it. He filmed Ashli Babbitt's death and claims he was there at the Capitol just to record everything and that his comments repeating what others were saying were for him to blend in with the crowd and be more inconspicuous as a Black man. He brought the footage he took to the FBI. Immediately upon his arrest - literally within minutes - right wing sites erupted in jubilation and Trump soon declared vindication.

His true motives have already been called into question by leftist activist groups online, including Rebellion Baby, which tweeted an extensive takedown accusing him of being an “infiltrator/agent provocateur.”

“John has been kicked from the #SaltLakeCity and #Portland protest scenes due to alarming behaviors including grifting/profiteering, self-promotion/clout chasing, sabotage of community actions, threats of violence, and — maybe most disturbingly — ties to the far-right,” the group tweeted on Nov. 26.

Sullivan is facing riot and criminal mischief charges for his participation in a Black Lives Matter protest in Utah in June, according to Rolling Stone.

But Rebellion Baby also pointed to Sullivan’s brother, James Sullivan, a Trump diehard who founded the conservative political organization Civilized Awakening. The group, they alleged, has “strong ties to Proud Poys — even having spoken at a Proud Boy rally.”

Actually who claims to be a part of the left. There is a far better case to be made that his is trying to infiltrate and discredit the left than that he is a legitimate example of the left infiltrating the right.

I think I know the one you have in mind, but no, it's not just about him. Wait until everything comes out before you decide.

I've already listen to two months of Trump's lies and disinformation about the elections and I've watched him consistently try to undermine our election system. I've seen him try to bully people in Georgia into "finding" him 11000 votes, try to get Mike Pence to do illegal things and ignore the Constitution, and do everything that he could, including inciting violence to stay in power. I don't need anymore "evidence". I heard his own personal lawyer call for "trial by combat" and his other handpicked crony calling for kicking ass. I know what I saw with my own eyes, including Trumps long lying speech right before the riots, and his claims about "loving" those who stormed the Capitol.

Actually who claims to be a part of the left. There is a far better case to be made that his is trying to infiltrate and discredit the left than that he is a legitimate example of the left infiltrating the right.

It would be pretty amusing if it turned out that the one supposed phony in the group turned out to be a phony left-winger. The twitter outing isn't definitive with regards to him being a right-winger or merely an opportunist, but it's an interesting data point given that it was posted over a month before the Capitol riot. It's not a post hoc claim.
