This is a strange thing that scares me, because the only person who can witness it is not me.. (it’s my husband of 23 years). I’m not sure when it started, it’s been happening for years now. I speak a language in my sleep that he says sounds “slavic”, but he doesn’t understand it at all. Apparently, I speak it with a great deal of fluency though I have never studied another language like that in my life. I’m a Christian, so I’m not sure what to think of this. I am not conscious when I speak it. It only happens once in a while and only in my deepest sleep. I have absolutely no recollection of the words nor any actions associated with it. It’s never with a dream, I don’t even know who I am speaking to. It has never happened during the day. It concerns me. I’m intrigued, but frightened because it’s not like me to do this when I am aware and awake.. what is this and why is it happening to me?

Your spirit is talking to God’s Spirit in tongues. There are many different dialects, not all tongues are the same. I know people who can speak in tongues while awake. I’ve only done it in my sleep.

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I guess to answer your question, what makes me think I’m a Christian is accepting his holy sacrifice for my sins. I’m not perfect or special or anything else. I do believe in Jesus Christ and the promise of eternity based on salvation. I’m thinking you may not be as judging now of me based on that answer, but please know that your response was hurtful. My faith is not shaken. I am a practicing Christian. I’m just scared about this, not knowledgeable about it, and asking for help. That’s all.

Wow.. that is a lot to take in. I haven’t learned as much about this phenomenon as I should. I’ve never considered myself one who would be capable of a gift like this, if this is indeed the case. I pray often before bed, and when I do have bad dreams or nightmares, I’m awoken praying, but it’s always in English. My husband said that when I am speaking, I sound very “determined”, and I’m telling something to someone. I will pray more about this and will learn more. Thank you for this, it’s been very helpful and much appreciated. This is comforting and eases my spirit.

Yeah, from my understanding some can be translated. The Holy Spirit gives the translation. Since it only happens in your sleep, I wouldn't worry about trying to understand it. It’s like a beautiful conversation between you and the Lord. If you could do it while awake, then sometimes, not all of the time, the message could be for someone else; to edify the church.

Thank you. And this makes sense. It’s confusing for it to happen only at night. Some say it could just be jibberish, and that may be so. I can’t control it, and it’s apart from my known consciousness, so I’m not sure what the purpose is. I have a high number of traumatic experiences, so that may have something to do with it. Thank you for helping me.

1. Believe it is The Lord's will for you to have this gift.(faith)
2.Ask The Lord for it in prayer.
3. Thank The Lord for this gift(faith)
4. Now go and do something you have not done before during the daytime.
The use of this gift at night time, when one sleeps, is for warfare.
