Is there something that happened or was said politically this week that we needed this thread?
More like something I was thinking about. My own dad being absent after mom saying "leave and never come back" yes, he cheated and knocked up a younger woman but I still needed a dad.

EDIT:Dad's health is going down so......thinking about stuff

Uh-oh, he done gone and said it!

I was born in a time when mothers on the fringe were just starting to say "I don't need a man." There is truth to that in terms of survival. A woman can finance a childhood on her own, especially an educated, experienced woman.

However, in the new millennium, this attitude has shifted to the mainstream as more than half of marriages fail and it feels like even more couples go their separate ways when a child is on the way. I have heard women literally say "my child doesn't need a father." Well honey, yes he/she does!

Women can get pregnant through consensual sex and eliminate the result of that consensual sex without the father's consent or knowledge. If you are not ready to have a baby that's fine. Then don't engage in the act of making a baby. An ounce of prevention and all that.

Can someone please tell us why fathers are now optional when for about a million years they were essential?

Is he bitter? You bet'cha! The neo-feminist agenda is castrating men.

BTW: We could do a whole other thread about "why are men abandoning their children?" One soapbox at a time.

Who is "he"?

EXACTLY - who is he? Who is bitter? Is there some background or provocation for the OP?

If I'm reading you right, the crucial problem with abortion is not how it affects fetuses, but how it affects grown men.
I would say the issues are not mutually exclusive (I hope I'm using that phrase right)

This is very true however, the uncles, cousins etc. that stepped into the father's role were still being fathers. At the heart of it, we need a male and female to influence, nurture, and teach our children how to behave and relate to the same sex and opposite sex.

No, we don't. What's needed is stable families.

That could be a single parent family, a multi-parent family, an extended multi-generational family, an adopted family or any other variation.

Also, there's no need to have a mother and a father to "teach our children how to behave and relate to the same sex and opposite sex". Two of the best families I know are lesbian parents who have a combination of adopted children and kids of their own that were conceived artificially.

Women only learned men were not essenti8al to raising children was when so many of them left after the or even before the child was born! And when they did stay, so many treated the women like punching bags! What are needed are not just men, but Godly mean who can love their wives and their children---and they are few and very far apart!

I guess I'm the bitter one cause like I was telling the other poster mom gave dad the boot for his "indescretions" and told him to never come back. I missed him for the next 30 years until we recently got in touch now that he's dying.

I'm sure they will grow up with absolutely no issues

EDIT: Things like "why did my parents abandon me?" or "who is my father?" probably never enter their minds

I don't listen to Rush. I used the word to illustrate an ignorant woman who thinks her civil right giver the right to be a bad person.

AFAIK, Rush coined the term and it never really took off anywhere outside of his immediate fanbase.

I think I heard it from someone I know or actually, it might have been on this forum where I saw it. Not a clear memory. IT's kinda funny, I'm completely clueless where I learned that word. I thought it would get some action going.

Not that much where there is no need for a child to be nurtured by a man as well as a woman.

Are you sure of that?

Eliminating men from child-rearing created dysfunction in the ability to relate to men.

I'd like to see the studies for that.

Generally, yes. Statistically speaking, children in same-sex families score as well, or slightly better, across a range of psychological tests when compared with children from mixed-sex families.

EDIT: Things like "why did my parents abandon me?" or "who is my father?" probably never enter their minds

And? You don't think lesbian parent families can successfully deal with these questions? Or provide intellectually and emotionally satisfactory answers to those questions?

I mean, if we don’t have “feminazis” in Portlsnd, Oregon, perhaps they don’t exist outside of Rush Limbaugh’s imagination.

??What does this have to do with Limbaugh?

As for female Nazi's in Portland - uh, I dunno - i see lots of pictures of females dressed in black, occasionally carrying flags, often armed in some form, doing equivalent to a "Kristallnacht" on minority owned businesses in the city.

You judge:

The question of "why doesn't my daddy love me?" Absolutely NOT. They can provide a nice loving home but they will always wonder about their daddy. Who was he, what was he like? Am I like him? Sorry but two lesbians is not a mom and dad. Granted it's 1000 times better to be with two lesbians than an abusive or neglectful father and/or mother.

Like I said to another poster, behavior is a soft science. Some will adjust with no problem but many will have a hole in their heart.

I was using the word as a comedic term to describe dysfunctional hypocritical women who think men are irrelevant.

I apologize if I misused the word and deplore the actions of those women. Perhaps I will not use that word in the future. There is nothing comical about Naziism.

EDIt: Admittidly it was "clickbait." Apologies for any offense in regard to making light of a violent hate group.

My guess is that he found out a woman he slept with got pregnant, perhaps by him, and is now angry about her not bearing his child.

Is that is a bad thing?

Are you actually saying the father should not be concerned about the murder of his child, regardless the circumstance?

They are definitely out there. Of course, in behavior there are no certainties ut there are tendencies.

Then you should no trouble finding them.
