Jesus said; “Those who believe in the Son have eternal life, but those who do not obey the Son will never have life. God’s anger stays on them.” John 3:36 (NCV)

Eternal life is without beginning or end, just as God is eternal. This would mean whom he regenerates with his Spirit was saved eternally in God's mind and plan.

“And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” John 11:26 (KJV 1900)

So is believing in Christ God's fruit of salvation that tells you he saved you? Or is it a law you must obey in the flesh to earn salvation?

Salvation is a free gift, however we can lose it by acting like the devil.

"Here ya go, son, here is $100,000 to use in your old age, its a free gift. Son goes out and spends it on wine women and song, and now he has lost his free gift."

John 6:39+40 I will loose none of those he ( God the Father ) has given me, but rase them up on the last day. This is my Father's will, that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him will have eternal life and I will raise them up on the last day.

We are saved because God chose us and saved because it is Jesus who keeps us safe.

In John 3:36, it equates believing in the Son with obeying him, so obedience to God's law is what it looks like to believe in Jesus. If our obedience to God's law were for God's good, then it would have been about trying to earn our salvation, however, it was given for our own good (Deuteronomy 6:24, 10:12-13), so our obedience is instead about expressing our faith in Jesus to guide us in how to rightly live. What we believe is expressed through our actions, which is why James said in James 2:17-18 that faith without works is dead and that he would show his faith by his works, so doing good works is what faith looks like. Every example of faith listed in Hebrews 11 is an example of someone taking an action. In Matthew 23:23, Jesus said that faith is one of the weightier matters of the law. In Romans 3:31, our faith upholds God's law. In Revelation 14:12, those who kept faith in Jesus are the same as those who kept God's commandments. In Habakkuk 2:4, the righteous shall live by faith, and in Isaiah 51:7, the righteous ae those on whose heart is God's law. In John 6:40, those who believe in Jesus will have eternal life, and in Matthew 19:17, Jesus said that if we want to enter eternal life, then obey the commandments, so obedience to the commandments is what it looks like to believe in Jesus. In Numbers 5:6, breaking God's law is referred to as breaking faith. In 2 Timothy 3:8, those who oppose Moses also oppose the truth, being of corrupted minds and disqualified in regard to the faith.

In Romans 7:14, God's law is spiritual. In Romans 8:4-7, those who walk in the Spirit are contrasted with those who have minds set on the flesh who refuse to submit to God's law. In Galatians 5:19-22, everything listed as works of the flesh that are against the Spirit are also against the Mosaic Law while all of the fruits of the Spirit are in accordance with it. Our salvation is from sin and sin is the transgression of God's law, so being trained by grace to live in obedience to God's law through faith is what Jesus saving us from living in disobedience to God's law looks like.

You cannot obey unless you are already a believer. So, you believe because God saved you. That's good news!

Are you saved because you believe? Or do you believe because you are saved?

By His grace He gives the gift of belief through faith to those who love Him.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

By His grace He gives the faith to believe.

In Titus 2:11-14, our salvation is described as being trained by grace to do what is godly, righteous, and good, and to renounce doing what is ungodly, so obeying God's instructions for how to do those things is what Jesus saving us from not doing those things looks like.

The new birth changes you into an obedient lover of God who cannot live a life of sin. But acting saved is not salvation.

Yes

Philippians 1:29
For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

Acts 13:48
Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.

Looks like a parody of the prodigal son, but you forgot one detail, sonship! Both stories reveals the very opposite of what you believe.

Despite travelling to a distant location, and spending all the money on wine women and song, he never ceased being his father's son. He never lost his father's genes and DNA deep in his body.
Losing the cash only indicates loss of reward, not loss of life.

I have understood salvation means you are saved from the judgment that would come because of sin.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

And people are saved because God has declared through Jesus sins forgiven. Now, after person hears this message, it would be wise to reject sin, because eternal life is for righteous.

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Mat. 25:46

If you after forgiveness continue in sin, the forgiveness was not useful.

Shame on you for twisting scripture, he was clearly both dead and lost to his father

“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

DNA? lol! we all have God's dna, even the unsaved. What a frail attempt at changing the meaning of the bible, but if I've said it once I've said it several times, changing the word is the only way to make your end of this work.

Curious, who taught you the dna spin?

We can't do anything without Him. Nothing!

John 15
5I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.

Hebrews 12:2
Berean Study Bible
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Psalm 25:9
He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.

We need to humble ourselves before Him and we begin new life in Him .... learning His ways ... He changes our thinking over the course of our earthly lives. If we remain humble He provides all our spiritual needs.

I am not sure what you asked in your question.
So is believing in Christ God's fruit of salvation that tells you he saved you?
Can you amplify your question somewhat?
