Mhm, many thinks our soul and stuff are from the dna itself and that it controls life and builds it, but I don`t think so actually because we have souls, there`s not a shread of evidence towards it being built from dna, they just can`t find a single dna-strain connected to our soul, so what`s if for really? Well, I think when our cells in our bodies are replaced, the blue-print for it is in the dna itself and it copies itself to maintain our bodies, it`s easier this way then to have our soul to do it all the time and another very interesting point, is that some think aging has to do with something called telemores or something, not sure how it`s spelled, but the cells in our bodies are replaces perfectly as long as the person is healthy and not aging premature, you know some people look young their entire life right and then just die from normal aging, dna is more sort of a bi-product of replacing and maintaining cells in our bodies, it has to know the recepie to do it, but what created dna itself, exactly, our soul when we developed..

DNA basically tells the cell how to run itself . In multicellular organisms it also coordinates the cells so that they cooperate with each other. Cell signaling is an entire field of biology. DNA most likely evolved from a RNA precursor. Souls are supernatural and science doesn’t deal with supernatural phenomena.

So, you sit and talk to others and still don`t believe you`re real person?

Of course I do. I don't think that requires a "soul" separate from the brain, though. I am my brain. The mind, the "soul" as you refer to it is what the brain does.

Show me a single verified instance of a "soul" or mind that exists without a brain.

Well others might fall for it but I certainly won't ..

I don't have to believe I'm a real person because I know how the word 'real' in your question acquires its meaning and I'm very familiar with the objective tests and resulting evidence which demonstrate that.
In short, we know we're real because that's a fundamental for beginning to decide what 'real' and 'exists' mean from thereon. If we're not real, then nothing else can be and so there's no external (mind independent) drivers for adopting a belief in that.

I know of only one case that those who argue for the existence of souls like to trot out claiming the "kid" had no brain and yet was a math whiz. Except he did have a brain. It's just that it was all squished to the outside edges of his skull because of the excess fluid in his head. A remarkable story for sure, but not evidence of a soul or mind without a brain.

Well there is a man without a brain who managed to become President of the United States.

DNA just acts as a blueprint for your body.
A soul is something completely different.

And no, cells don't reproduce perfectly, even in healthy people. There's just constantly self-repairing mechanisms that compensate for constant biological-thermodynamical entropy and oxidative stress. Tens of thousands if not millions of small breakages in the DNA are happening at any given moment- your body is just very excellently crafted to fix those breakages quickly or cause apoptosis before you develop cancer :)

I think that for any valuable discussion about this, you'd first need to define what exactly a soul is. What's its nature? How can we detect it?

I'd say that nicely sums up the state of microbiology today;

We know DNA provides a software/hardware mechanism to construct our physical biological forms, much like CADCAM used in factories manufacturing cars and aircraft

And as you note; the designs even exhibit similar planned obsolescence

And of course DNA, likewise does not account for the 'end users' of the designs or the purpose for them- but it does imply their existence... more here to be discovered- as always- and I would say THAT is what it is really for! :)

If you feel @Pulchra has a good feel for the state of micobiology today, then I can only conclude you have even less notion of the state of microbiology than I do. On the plus side, your confidence in your knowledge is charming. :)
