I didn't know where else to stick this, but figured this might be the place for it.

I enjoy extreme heavy Christian music. What are people's thoughts on this?

Example of a song I like that I would consider in this category. Will post the lyics.

Perversions elevated to the state of religion.
It was, and is and shall be no more.

In ancient days, women on their knees mounted by goats,
the sehirrim of the wastelands, demons of Azazel.

These days we repeat such filth with pride.

Perversions elevated to the state of state-religion,
marching through the gates of every city.

All shall bow like in the days of the mad king.

White light broken up in colours,
distorted under the veil of good.

What was, is and shall not be.

The city is a sewer,
it floods the streets with filth.

Only the promise keeps the flood of Noah at bay.
In ancient days a flood washed all sinners away.

What was, and is and shall yet be.

A cross was risen on a hill in the midst of time and space,
a sacrifice to God, a sacrifice of God, God sacrificed.
In these days a flood of Gods own blood to wash away all sin,
and spare the life of sinners.

Leave the blood filth step in to the white,
step into the light. Goatwhore no more.

I don't think the type of music is an issue. Different people respond to different genres. For me, I feel a good spiritual song makes you feel closer to God and nourishes your soul.

i like most of the lyrics but feel they need to define the goat harlot better. She lives in unfaithful and therefore sinful hearts and fosters egocentric lawlessness in each individual who does not accept Jesus Christ as King.

i like this song better.

I can't imagine Jesus saying that these lyrics are in any way good. Talking about women having sex with goats? No. That's not edifying.

Phil 4:8 "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."

Luke 6:45 "A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart."

It's got a good riff to it. Lyrics are very accusatory to the state of the world without Christ, and it mentions Christ as the way out.

For those who have a problem with the extreme example but not with heaviness in general, I recommend No Innocent Victim. They're not metal, they're hardcore, and what strikes me about their lyrics is that they aren't afraid to show who they are, they don't need to embellish their message either.

Not a song I'd write, but there are some Old Testament prophesies which are far more graphic.

It's one thing to say "people do evil things", but to graphically describe said evil things is to bring those images and thoughts to the forefront of one's mind. Music is a powerful thing. Words carry power. Thoughts will eventually become actions. There's no need to sing about women having sex with goats in order to honor God or draw closer to Him.

And do you sit and meditate on them?

What we put into our minds, is what we become.
Well, you have to meditate on a passage at least once in the process of studying it. But if you're asking me if I keep going back to those passages or use them as a basis for self-gratification, the answer is "no".

I also have memorized some Rob Zombie lyrics, they're pretty easy to memorize due to their graphic nature. Not that I'm saying people should listen to Rob Zombie, but those singles have been out for 20+ years and I haven't gotten into that stuff yet.

What seems to be missing is the redemption of personal taste as if it was somehow sacrosanct.

Dare we ask Him to walk into the deep recesses of our lives - look at our personal preferences and bring weeping conviction when we prefer other than what brings Him joy.

We have no right to hold personal preferences against His Holy Standard if we are truely born again.

In this raging battle we need to reflect His light, His Holiness, His purity, His Love.

Have you been slain speachless by His awe?

Pray for it - if you mean business - but be warned, your life will change.

Exactly :)

I enjoy some Rob Zombie. In moderation.

This. And I’d add that this song is a bad imitation /representation of the genre. Not creative, not original. Are we sure this isn’t satire?

I don't enjoy that music style and I think the lyrics are also not very good. I like more for example this:

Perhaps you will like this better as more "original" whatever you mean by that.

Indeed. I recently read the passage of Ezekiel 16 and was basically brought to tears based on God cleaning off the bride and then subsequently talking about the atonement after the bride had gone whoring among the nations. It's a beautiful passage, and it is also very graphic.

I think the best Christian music has a simple melody and lyrics suitable for singing in the shower or car. I can't see myself doing either with this. But different strokes for different folks.
