what is the point of trumps lie on the vaccine?

Is he really going to force it through, get it from Russia, or just hope that no one notices it doesn't show up, he really seems to be ramping up the lie on it. And wonder if that will hurt him considering how much of his crowd thinks covid is a lie and such.

Trump's point is to distract you.

Just do some research and see what news he's distracting you from.

Since most of this is fantasy, you really should be more specific with us about what we are supposed to believe. Then we can answer with that in mind as though it were actually true.

After sitting through Boris' little diatribe yesterday, I can honestly say that (unbelievably), I find Trump's optimism refreshing - like opening the window on the first morning of spring and breathing in all of that dew soaked grass as it sweeps in through the valleys of the distant prairie. (Or something like that?) *Shrugs*

Yep, sometimes, it pays to just buy into the fantasy and enjoy the ride. We know Santa isn't real - but does it hurt to believe? This year has been such a drag that it might even be good for morale to invite a bit of naivety.

At the end of the day, Donald will be Donald. You can tie yourself up in knots, but he'll probably never hear you - and even if he did, Donald will be Donald.

Sorry if I sound annoyingly positive, I'm just burnt out with it all now.

Can you please be a bit more clear on what the lie is?

Thanks

You feel bad about life so you just check out of reality? You must be a Trump supporter.

He is forever lying and he thinks his supporters will think he’s really smart.
The sad thing is they think he is smart AND they don't seem to mind being lied to on a daily basis.

I sometimes wonder how so many Trump voters are able to safely navigate their way to the polls without getting run over or getting into a car accident with their necks cranked back anticipating their pie in the sky. The chiropractor bills must be unbearable!

Couldn't be further from the truth - I'm just tired of feeling anger towards him (if you've ever seen my posts in this forum, you'll know my stance.) Who is my anger hurting? NOT the politicians, that's for sure. For the sake of my own sanity I have to let it go.

Plus, I'm British. It doesn't really matter to me what he does. It's the people that matter, and you all have the chance now to make a change.

And I'm not a Biden supporter either. I'm in the US for a couple of weeks a year, I'm never going to see these people.

Fair point about it basically not being productive to get angry at someone whom you have no influence over. You just make your blood pressure go up. It makes my heart beat fast. I don't like that felling so why endure?

I think I'll lay on the grass and watch the clouds go by. Trump can't stop the sun from shining, that's for sure.

On a totally different subject, how difficult is it for an American to get a work permit in the UK? I am so fascinated with everything British it's almost an obsession. I want to visit but I have not personal connections there. I have a sister across the North Sea in The Netherlands but it is impossible to get a work permit there unless you can prove that you can do something a Dutchman can't do. Is it like that in the UK? I don't assume you know all the immigration laws but I thought I'd ask. Cheers!

The process will be a LOT more streamlined for you as an American. You won't have half as much red tape to worry about, so it should be mostly formality (i.e. are you who you say you are? Where is your place of residence? Etc.) Just be sure to give yourself three months to get through the application process - don't leave it last minute. I think you'd need to apply for a tier 2 general visa, once you have a certificate from your UK employer.

My sister is from The Netherlands too oddly enough. I'm considering a move to Utrecht when all of this nonsense blows over - because I do like it over there. It wouldn't be forever though, I love London way too much.

In the Netherlands you'll need to keep extending residence permits for a period of five years before being eligible to apply for permanent residence *source, an Aussie friend of mine who lives in Amsterdam. But I think it's straight forward enough.

If you get in with a good company, the sky's the limit (it's virtually impossible to get fired once you're in). My friend in A'dam has shares in Uber now. The real thing to consider with NL is medical care, but you'll be familiar with that. We have it all laid on in the UK with the NHS.

Both are good options in my opinion, do one then the other maybe? See what works. (The Dutch are incredibly blunt - don't be surprised if they come off as a bit caustic, because they're lovely really.)

It hurts the kids who try to be "good" all year but who nevertheless always get stiffed by Santa, if they actually believe in the whole thing.

Isn't this simply about him saying that the vaccine would be available by October ... I suppose this is connected to trump's false claims about test availability.

Like his optimism when he said 'Only 15 cases, soon to be none?'.

I figure he is first hoping for a longshot that a vaccine will be available, but not really tested, and if released he will claim the credit with no risk because any problems will not become clear until after the election.

His backup plan is claiming that teh vaccine was not ready becausse of Democrats working to stop it. He will have enough that can be twisted to support that in the minds of his followers because of every decent researcher wanting real trials.

I don't know, that is why I'm asking you what the lie is, specifically.
