That's not what I said. I reject the notion that *theology* is source material for science, not that believers didn't contribute to the early development of science and its methods.

I think it's safe to say that science as a field of study took its cues from many a theologian.

But the biblical cosmology, which is basically Babylonian cosmology, is utterly wrong, and was not in any sense of the word scientific. In fact, roughly contemporary thinkers using more empirical methods knew that the earth was a sphere and not a roughly flat disk or plate with a dome above it.

In the ancient sense "cosmology" is a description of the cosmos (or all that exists), the modern science is more properly call "physical cosmology".
