  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You have to be very selective to find universal salvation in Scripture..

The fact is the Restitution of all things is indeed in Scripture! It may stagger our wee faith, but alas it stands!

Can I just ask you here in the forum, about when did you discover the fact that which is being spoken about? That God does have a plan for all people, and it doesn't involve people burning in hell forever and ever, as most people may still believe.

And we know that " all " is not always used as all inclusive in scripture and can have various meanings depending upon its context. Besides that you are talking about the new heavens and earth which gets restored but we still read there are those outside who are in torment post restoration. So much for your " theory " that is absent from Scripture. its at most nothing but human wishful thinking.

hope this helps !!!

The Will of all little wills prevails!

We were made sinners by no choice of our own but being born into it.

"Made subject to futility NOT WILLINGLY..."

But nowhere does it say that God overrides our will.
He told Adam not to eat the fruit - but did nothing to stop him when he did.
Jesus did not force people to follow him and believe.

All/pas radically means all with very few Scriptures that are a metonomy or synecdoche.

God is supreme! He brings our broken lives and puny will into conformity with His.

It is called at-one-ment

6 If all men are condemned by Adam’s offense, why are not all justified by the one just award (Rom. 5:18)?

7 If all die in Adam, why shall not all be made alive in Christ (1 Cor. 15:22)?

Because God deemed that only those who are in Christ Jesus will be saved. Just because all will die because of Adam’s sin doesn’t mean that all will live because of Christ’s sacrifice. All are capable of living because of His sacrifice if they choose to abide in Him.

This will most assuredly be a shock to you, but the identical many "made sinners" are the precise many "made righteous".

Every last one!

For me it began, (note began), 50 years ago in a wee group of people who were singing spiritual songs the Father birthed into us. One day there was a shazzam moment when it began to dawn upon my silly being what we were singing.

1 Cor. 15:22

“For as in Adam some die, so also in Christ some shall be made alive. Rev. 5:13

Col. 1:18-20

“He too is that head whose body is the Church, the Firstborn from the dead, he is to the Church the Source of its life, that in some things He might occupy the foremost place/ to be in some things alone supreme . For it pleased the Father that in him the divine nature in some of its fulness should dwell. And, having made peace through the blood of His cross, by him to reconcile some things unto Himself ; by him, I say, whether they be things on earth, or things in heaven. And you that were sometimes alienated…”

1 Cor. 15:25,27

“For He must reign until He hath put some enemies under His feet…For He hath put some things under His feet. But when He saith some things are put under Him, it is manifest that He is excepted, which did put some things under Him.”

1 Timothy 2:4

“For this is good and pleasing in the eyes of God our Saviour; who will have some men to be saved and come to an increasing knowledge of the truth.”

1 Timothy 2:6

“For there is one intermediary (One who brings God and men together) who gave Himself a ransom in behalf of some to be testified in due time.”

Cor. 5:15

“For the love of God overmasters us because we judge that if one died for some, then were some dead; And that His purpose in dying for some was that men, while still in life, should cease to live for themselves, and should live for Him who for their sake died and was raised to life.”

Col. 1:16

"For by Him were some things created, of things in heaven and on earth, things seen and things unseen (angels or archangels and some of the powers of Heaven)… some things were created by Him, and for Him (some were made by Christ for His own use and glory.)

2 Cor. 5:14

“For the love of Christ constraineth/overmasters/compels/controls us, and this is the conviction we have reached; if one man died on behalf of some, then some thereby became dead men. Phil. 2:10,11

In order that in adoration of the Name of Jesus some knees will bow themselves and openly acknowledge with joy, in celebration and praise, that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. This profession and confession of His lordship shall be open and freely proclaimed, acknowledged joyfully by some beings in the heavens, by some beings on the earth and by some beings in the underworld.

Please Remember…

All does not radically mean all.

Whole is not whole.

All = Some

8 How can every knee bow confessing Christ Lord, to God’s glory, unless reconciled (Phil. 2:10,11)?

You’ll see the same type of behavior from criminals in court when they’re about to receive their sentencing. They always say they’re sorry and they’ll never do it again but the truth is they only want to escape their punishment.

9 If Christ only hath immortality, how can any of the dead be alive now (1 Tim. 6:14-16; 1 Cor. 15:53, 54)?

I don’t know, but Moses & Elijah appeared to be alive when they appeared and spoke with Jesus.

10 If the wicked go to hell as soon as they die, why are they raised and judged later (Rev. 20:11-15)?

Again I don’t know, I don’t speculate on when we go to heaven or hell, I’m still undecided and haven’t found conclusive evidence pointing towards one side of the debate.

11 Since the lake of fire is the second death, what happens to the wicked when death is destroyed (1 Cor.15:26)?

I think that’s in reference to death the supernatural being that takes people’s life, not death the state of being dead.

12 If “forever” means “eternity” what does “forever and ever” mean?

If you tell your wife I’ll love you forever or you tell her you’ll love her for forever & ever, are you saying two different things? Do they have two different meanings? The same could be said if you say you’ll never worship satan or if you say you’ll never ever worship satan, do those two statements have different meanings?

13 If God is Love and has all power, will He not find away to save all (1 Tim. 4:9-11)?

Evidently not according to the scriptures. Perhaps free will will not allow Him to make that sort of decision. Can He force people to obey, yeah I’m sure He could. Evidently He doesn’t tho.

14 If Christ is to reign for ever and ever, what does it mean that He will abdicate His throne (Rev. 11:15; 1 Cor. 15:24)?

Christ can reign under The Father. Pontias Pilate reigned under Caesar.

15 Will God ever actually become All in all (1 Cor.15:28)?

I don’t know exactly what “all in all” means. That could mean a lot of things. I don’t think that’s sufficient evidence to formulate a doctrine of universal salvation.

FIFTEEN QUESTIONS FOR SOBER THOUGHT

1 If God will have all men to be saved, and if most men are lost, then how can God be supreme (1 Tim.2:3,4)?

2 If Christ is the Propitiation for the sins of the whole world, did He die in vain for the lost (1 John 2:2)?

3 If God is going to reconcile the universe through Christ, how can some be tormented forever (Col. 1:20)?

4 How can God, in Christ, gather all things together as one while billions remain eternally estranged (Eph.1:10)?

5 If all die in Adam, and a few are made alive in Christ, how can grace much more abound than sin (Rom. 5:20)?

6 If all men are condemned by Adam’s offense, why are not all justified by the one just award (Rom. 5:18)?

7 If all die in Adam, why shall not all be made alive in Christ (1 Cor. 15:22)?

8 How can every knee bow confessing Christ Lord, to God’s glory, unless reconciled (Phil. 2:10,11)?

9 If Christ only hath immortality, how can any of the dead be alive now (1 Tim. 6:14-16; 1 Cor. 15:53, 54)?

10 If the wicked go to hell as soon as they die, why are they raised and judged later (Rev. 20:11-15)?

11 Since the lake of fire is the second death, what happens to the wicked when death is destroyed (1 Cor.15:26)?

12 If “forever” means “eternity” what does “forever and ever” mean?

13 If God is Love and has all power, will He not find away to save all (1 Tim. 4:9-11)?

14 If Christ is to reign for ever and ever, what does it mean that He will abdicate His throne (Rev. 11:15; 1 Cor. 15:24)?

15 Will God ever actually become All in all (1 Cor.15:28)?

And lastly your translation of 1 Timothy 2:4 is incorrect. The word thelō (G2309) can also mean

1. to will, have in mind, intend
a. to be resolved or determined, to purpose
b. to desire, to wish
c. to love
1. to like to do a thing, be fond of doing
d. to take delight in, have pleasure

So in light of the many other verses that imply that all men will not be saved one can easily deduce that the usage here would be closer to desire or have pleasure in. Like this

“This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:3-4‬ ‭NASB‬‬

But I’m confident that you already knew this ;)
