  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In a statement Monday, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said the event wasn't sanctioned or permitted by the City of Phoenix because the city doesn't provide permits for political events. She also noted that it doesn't follow current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

City officials contacted the church and the president's campaign staff to explain the city's mask policy, Gallego said. The city's policy isn't to cite people but to educate them on the virus, she said.

"The city has not changed this enforcement policy for tomorrow’s event," Gallego said. "The church has indicated that they will be handing out masks to event goers and taking temperatures upon check-in."

Gallego said everyone attending the rally, especially elected officials, should wear masks. "This includes the President," she said.

This might explain why the US is doing so poorly in comparison to Europe. Perhaps if the CDC guidelines were more than just guidelines

AFAIK, the CDC has no enforcement powers... it's up to the federal government to put their suggestions into effect...

That would require federal leadership...

...of course they do...

Leaders from the Dream City Church, which has locations in Phoenix and Scottsdale, are claiming in a Facebook post that they’ve installed new technology that “kills 99% of Coronavirus” through “ionization” within 10 minutes. A local company -- conveniently owned by church members -- developed the technology, they say.

I can almost hear Trump putting in a plug tomorrow night....

Problem solved? The Arizona church hosting a Trump rally claims it can kill COVID-19
Yeah, that's not how that works...

Arizona Mega-Church Set to Host Trump Rally Falsely Claims Its Air Filter Zaps COVID-19

Ionization is used to polarize particles so that they stick to a filter better. It doesn't "zap" them or kill them. And a perfect filtration system is useless against a disease that's transmitted primarily by liquid droplets from people in close proximity to you.

Correct - you could have the best air filters in the world, but those won't do anything to protect you from the person next to you coughing in your face.

Maybe if we stuck those filters in front of peoples' mouths? We could hold them there with some elastic, or maybe strips of cloth, and make them fitted so that all of the air went into the filter first...

...forget it. An order to wear a simple cloth face covering is causing folks to melt down...

There is supposed to be some experimenting with electromagnetic or electrostatic face masks I read about a few days ago, but we can't even get folks to wear regular masks because it's TYRANNICAL.

Dude: "I'd die for my Country!!"

Country: "Dude, no need to shed blood. I just need you to war a mask for a few months."

Dude: "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!l

Apparently they're only willing to die as long as it's not a terrible inconvenience.

Good thing the Greatest Generation wasn't like this, or we'd probably be having this discussion in German.

Hi ES,

I wonder if anyone else finds it odd that fellowships of christian believers are all up in arms about a woman who supports reproductive rights...but let some liar, thief and fornicator come knocking at the door and they welcome with open arms.

Odd isn't it. Personally, I think the fellowship of believers should stay set apart from the world of worldly politics. Let political gatherings be held in town halls and event centers and if christians want to go, that's fine. But to hold them in fellowship meeting places gives some credence to the person, platform and party that I honestly don't think that God supports.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

Reproductive rights? Don't you just love today's deceptive terminology? People really go out of their way to make things sound good.

I have three ionizers in my house. They've been around a long time.

You just have to get your head around the fact that those on the pro-choice side really truly don't think that they are murdering babies. It's not that they know it's baby murder but don't care or are trying to fool themselves.
