If you want to stop sinning..

You have to understand what causes it, then stop doing that, and then live in the place, of "stopped doing that".

You might want to read what i just said a few times....

Here is the problem. "The power of sin, is the law".
What does this mean? Its means that sin is energized in you by the law.
The LAW actually inflames your flesh to sin more.

Paul said this......regarding the born again.... "Sin shall not have dominion over you".
So, if it does, then it has the power to make you sin conscious., and KEEP you like that.
"why can't i stop thinking about this"....>"I can't get this off my mind".. "i keep trying to not think about this and i CAN'T STOP"......then, you do it. Then you feel terrible.. Then, you probably feel that you need to do something like repent, .and you'll confess to God that you sinned again, as if He didn't know it.
So, that's really kind of ridiculous...yet, that is how most of you are living out your Christian Life.
In that FAILED Christian Discipleship position.
= Yes, YOU.

Ok, truly reader, i need to post a Thread as this is not what you are hearing taught from your pulpit. You are being instead told a lie. You are being told that you are a "sinner saved by Grace, who can expect to confess and repent of your sinning for the rest of your life as you slowly grow in Grace.......blah, blah, blah, nonsense. = Lie = fail.
Listen, you're failing to live holy. And you are being told you are a "saved sinner" that needs to repent and confess". So, that is what you BELIEVE, and that is why you are doing it.
Someone told you that this is what you are to do, and now how many years have you been doing it?
But, didn't God tell you to LIVE HOLY?
Didn't Paul say....."How are you who are dead to sin, live in sin any longer"?
Yet you are still sinning 10, 30, 50 yrs after you are saved.

Here is why you sin.
You are sin conscious. You then try to strive against that thinking, and this makes it worse, as now you've put yourself under the law by trying to resist sin, in your own power.
When you try to resist sin in your own power, the Law actually makes your flesh stronger and stronger the more you resist. This is "the CURSE OF THE LAW".. and Jesus came to "deliver us from the curse of the Law"
So, what is happening here, is that you are "walking in the Flesh"., and that is a fail every time so far, isn't it?.
= THAT is how you DONT stop sinning. This means that to stop, you do the opposite to stop sinning.
You have to get out from under the law, reader.
This means you have to start believing RIGHT< which causes you to LIVE Right.
Its wrong believing that causes you to live wrong.
So, what is right believing? Right Believing is the power that frees you from striving against sin that is causing you to keep sinning.

So, what you have to do, is find out exactly what Grace does, and live in that place of VICTORY.
One part of this is that you have to fall in love with HOLINESS. You have to love it. You have to love Holiness......You have to ADORE It. And most of you have never even thought about this before......but you have to do that. You have to love the idea of being CLEAN and PURE and HOLY....>You have to fall in love with this desire......so, begin to think that way.........

But more then that.... you have to go to Hebrews 13:9 and START THERE and stay there from now on.
Stay there for LIFE.
You have to find out how to live in GRACE....What this means, and once you find out, you have to live there in you MIND. As this is the Mind of Christ. ..... That is how you walk in the LIGHT< and "walk in the Spirit".
Walking in the Spirit is not trying to be good......Walking in the Spirit is RIGHT BELIEVING that Frees you from sinning.
Paul says this. "if you walk in the Spirit, you will not SIN"..."you will not commit works of the FLESH".

So, you have to learn what it means to walk in the Spirit, and you have to live there, in your Mind.
See, you sin, because you MIND is sin conscious. So, you have to resolve that by walking in the Spirit.
You walk in the spirit by RIGHT BELIEVING....... concerning the Grace of God.
Once you discover exactly what the Blood Atonement does, how its an overpayment for your sin....that its not some temporary situation that goes and comes, and is off one day and on the next based on your behavior... You have to come to the revelation of HOW "the finished work of Jesus on the Cross" really IS a "one time sacrifice for all your sin"....
You have to get there in your understanding, in your MIND.... so that by coming to this place in your mind, you can then by right believing begin to exist in the Grace of God as it actually exists to let you live in the right MIND that is to walk in the Spirit that is your freedom from being under the law and in bondage to your flesh and carnal mind.
You're not there now, and that is why you are still committing works of the flesh, thinking about them, and then after you do it again.... trying to turn off your guilt trip by repenting and confessing, that actually does nothing but make you feel better, after a time. = Failed discipleship.

This is actually against Reformed Calvinistic teaching.

No one can "stop sinning," that's just foolishness, please stop posting here if you are not a Calvinist.

Do you own this forum? If not .... do not pretend you have the authority to dictate to me, anything, regarding me being here.
And, to your question.....am i a Calvinist. ??????????
No, im a Christian.
Born again.
There are no Denominations in Heaven. There are only the Redeemed, born again.
Denominations are a man made idea, not found in Heaven.
Do you understand this???
Also..

Paul said ".. If you walk in the Spirit you shall not Sin".... "shall not commit works of the Flesh".
Paul said, "how can you who are dead to sin, live in sin any longer".
Paul said.>"sin shall not have dominion over you".

So, if you are living the life of , falling, repenting, confessing, falling, sinning, confessing, repenting, then you are defying Paul, and are walking in the Flesh.

Im not a Calvinist Reformed Christian.
Neither was Paul, Martin Luther, or Billy Graham
So, those and I will find another place to "teach".
Honestly, i didn't notice i was in a sub menu denomination only restricted, area.
I just saw the Thread's title and wanted to help.

Is the irony here playing its song to you, JM?

Follow instructions? = over and out.

If you want to stop sinning..

I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. Romans 7

There is a law of sin that remains after we are saved.

https://banneroftruth.org/us/store/christian-living/indwelling-sin-in-believers/

You might want to read what i just said a few times....

Here is the problem. "The power of sin, is the law".
What does this mean? Its means that sin is energized in you by the law.
The LAW actually inflames your flesh to sin more.

Purpose of the Law
19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.
20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.
22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed.
24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

The Law points us to Christ by showing us our sin, the Spirit leads us to repentance, this is the Christian life.

Yours in the Lord,

jm

Okay.
No, im a Christian.
Born again.

Let me guess, you think you're too good and above denominational divides...right. If I was to guess...your a Protestant, likely a credobaptist and believe in congregational church government. If that is true you are likely some kind of Baptist.

There are no Denominations in Heaven. There are only the Redeemed, born again.
Denominations are a man made idea, not found in Heaven.
Do you understand this???
Also..

This proves my point made above from Romans 7, that sin remains, that's why we have denominations so until Christ returns we have denominations.

Im not a Calvinist Reformed Christian.
Neither was Paul, Martin Luther,

Martin Luther wrote Bondage of the Will which explains the biblical doctrine of predestination. It's a classic.

or Billy Graham

Billy Graham was ordained Presbyterian. Presbyterians are Reformed. True, Billy backslide into something else after and before he past he was even further down the road.

Thats not correct JM.

See, you stopped and didnt finish the rest.
Paul goes on to say, ...>"but thanks be to GOD who gives us the VICTORY". (over sin)
"Who is he that overcomes the WORLD but he that has Christ as his Savior"
Read 2nd Corinthians 2
See, people like you always take out of the verse, the part that you want to believe, and you never concern yourself with the Context.
The context of Paul talking about "that which i would do, i dont do, and that which i dont want to do, i do"......is found by more reading of more verses.
You have to read the rest of the Chapter.
He then says that Christ always causes him to have the victory over Sin., and that is the context of why he was showing you his failure. He was about to show you the SOLUTION, and you never got that far...JM
Paul then explains why......"sin shall have no more dominion over you".
"" shall we who are dead to sin keep sinning.....NO".
"if you walk in the Spirit you shall not SIN"..."you will not commit deeds of the FLESH".

So, what you believe is based on reading too few verses, and never to the end of the chapter.
You never got the context.
I would say that you got your false theology from a commentary that teaches exactly what you are writing.

1 John 1:8

There is no sin in Righteousness.
The born again are the Righteousness of Christ.

You are accusing John of being a sinner, because you have no idea what that verse is explaining.
