Try to imagine standing before the throne of the Creator, whilst He is surround with thousands upon thousands of light beings and a high council of elders. Read Ezekiel 1 for an idea of the image of the Throne itself. Picture the Messiah stood before you - having lived life on earth and not sinned and now in a glorified body.
You are next in line on judgment day and you've just seen a believer skipping off in joy into eternal life, their case acquitted.
Now, next to you a screen plays through all your life moments and your inner most thoughts aloud before all of them. Like the most embarrassing, humiliating netflix series ever! Nothing is missed. The Creator, the angels, the high council, the Messiah, Satan and all the people present (maybe even friends and family) watch your life day by day and hear your thoughts.
Would you feel ashamed and repentant at some things or thoughts in your life? Do you have a sick feeling in your stomach imagining having to answer for something cruel, evil, selfish, against the Law of God or another man?
I think if we all saw our lives we would come to loathe ourselves. Our selfish, bitter, twisted, self-serving lives and probably wouldn't blame Yahweh for judging us.
Use that as motivation to repent so you can deal with it now (when there is grace) rather than deal with it then - when there is no more mercy. There is no repenting before Him on that day. You had your life on earth to do that. So, if there is anything you don't want to give a account for on that day, repent.
The above is a simplistic depiction of what awaits us but it isn't far from the truth.
If you are still not motivated to address your issues and past. Read the Word, the whole Word, and soon you'll start to see your flaws and your need to repent.
But we've ALL been there. Thinking we're alright. Then realising we're were wrong and repenting. And then seeing we had more to repent of thereafter.
Thank God He has still given us time to repent before it's too late.
Again I suggest reading the whole Word, but if you want a brief reading plan first, then I suggest...
- Ecclesiastes
- Luke
- Acts
- Romans
- 1 Peter
- James
- Revelation
May Yahweh bless you with wisdom and open eyes, ears and heart to the truth.
