South Korea took the appropriate measures. Some say it is because they did not take early measures during the SARS virus in 2016. 180 people died. They learned their lesson. When the first few cases were discovered in Daegu, the people weren't running out to get guns and ammunition preparing for riots in the street when the crisis got out of control. Of course not. No one owns guns there. Instead they did what was necessary to contain the virus and they are out of the woods right now. One trillion dollars later, our country will probably come to the same decision. 4 billion dollars poorer, Trump will blame it on the Chinese.
If South Kora had restricted travel from China they might have prevented much of their outbreak in the first place. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. A little precaution before a crisis occurs is preferable to a lot of fixing up afterward

I read you loud and clear. You are saying that one travel ban from one country combined with doing absolutely NOTHING for the following two months., despite warnings to the Senate intelligence committee which yielded nothing but some insider trading...
Deserves so much praise while not having a travel ban but responding so quickly, comprehensively, and decisively from day one in South Korea was worse???? SMH.
Of course, being in a country with Comprehensive Universal Health Care doesn't hurt, either. Being in a country where people continue to get paid during the temporary closures doesn't hurt either.
I do remember, however, that during the Ebola crisis Obama's quick action saved our country. Not only did he prevent people from affected countries from coming in , he also sent the CDC to West Africa where they trained 14,000 people who were able to shut down the outbreak at its source. Wow. Obama The Mensch. Obama the philanthropist.
I could be proud of America when he was president.

I think Trump does deserve credit for travel restrictions. You yourself said it worked for Obama. If im not mistaken we tried to get CDC into China but they refused. What did the CDC, FDA, congress and the states do for two months? Whats up with liberals obsession with placing blame on Trump? Are they trying to win an election?

And i refuted your misquote of Trump. Lots of misinformation going around. Its a difficult task trying to find the truth. Biden isn't helping matters at all. He lied about Trump refusing Who testing kits. Maybe he just misunderstood, or maybe he is politicizing this crisis for political gain. Maybe we should all stop blaming others and come together and work this problem

No, actually you did not because whether "want" or "need" the FACT remains that the tests were not available as he falsely stated. Also, in the video of trump remarks he does say "If there's a Doctor that WANTS to test" (At about 1:16)

Whether want or need the tests were not available...so you can nitpick on words but the fact remains!

It looks as though South Korea is getting it under control thanks to test availability.

"Behind its success so far has been the most expansive and well-organized testing program in the world, combined with extensive efforts to isolate infected people and trace and quarantine their contacts. South Korea has tested more than 270,000 people, which amounts to more than 5200 tests per million inhabitants—more than any other country except tiny Bahrain, according to the Worldometer website. The United States has so far carried out 74 tests per 1 million inhabitants, data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show."

Coronavirus cases have dropped sharply in South Korea. What’s the secret to its success?

Thank you Mr President.

My question though is this, once under control it is still out there. Until we have a vaccine we are all still at risk. Must we continue the social distancing indefinitely?

And what has congress done in the beginning to contain this virus?

During the early stages of this issue, meaning during January and into February, House Democrats were forcing the Senate to sit on their hands and do nothing while Schiff and his cronies promoted their halfwitted and completely irresponsible impeachment case.

Because getting President Trump is all that is important to them, both then and now.

Is this another "walk and chew gum" situation? What was irresponsible to hold the president accountable... we know the conversation wasn't "perfect", and that a quid pro quo was involved. The senate republicans believed it did not rise to the level of impeachment not that he wasn't guilty of such.

They did so a little too late. That's why it spread to a global pandemic.

A lot of nonsense coming from various media sources.

On 14 January 2020 the WHO issued a statement (based on Chinese health officials) that the novel coronavirus from Wuhan China did not demonstrate "human to human" contagious. Meaning only those who actually ate the animals contracted the virus. This was false information passed to the WHO who did not independently verify the Chinese claims. Two weeks later we started to see the massive efforts to contain the virus in Wuhan and other locations in China. When this happened Trump issued a travel ban on incoming flights and POE entries from China. He was called a xenophobe by the very media who now says he did not act in time.

Exactly. Why was China covering this important information up in the beginning? Does everyone know that China has a biological test lab in Wuhan where they have been testing bat coronaviruses and that this is where the epidemic started? Does everyone know that Xi Jingping ordered _ in mid-Feb _ a directive to make this lab more secure? COINCIDENCE?
Trump has done everything he could do short of shutting down the entire nation that will lead to a collapsed economy. We can handle a couple weeks of shut down, but not a couple months. Every week hundreds of billions of dollars are lost in production - if everything stopped.

China should be held responsible and their labs shut down!!! We cannot afford to do this next year and the year after.

The good news is, the USA feeds the world. We have 10 years of wheat surplus, 10 years of corn, plenty of beef, pork and produce. Trucks are still moving so we won't run out of food. And btw, paper companies are on over time producing TP and so when this is over, we will have so much, that they will have to discount it. People aren't going to the bathroom more often, only to wash their hands. Don't panic.

It was actually a statement of fact. Long before January 2018 House Democrats have been focused on one issue and one issue only. The impeachment process was simply another in an unending line of attempts to reverse the 2016 election, only by far the most idiotic.

During the entire time Schiff and his cronies stood and presented their ludicrous and at times unintelligible and obviously partisan case, members of the Senate were forced to sit and do nothing. House Democrats did not care about the Coronavirus then and they do not care about it today, other than using it as yet another means to attempt to defeat President Trump.

What was irresponsible to hold the president accountable...

When there was nothing but a fabricated narrative to attempt to hold him accountable for.

...we know the conversation wasn't "perfect"...

Yet you don't know what a metaphor is.

...and that a quid pro quo was involved.

The only quid-pro-quo in regard to Ukraine was at the hands of Joe Biden, who is on video demanding just such action in exchange for US aid money.

The senate republicans believed it did not rise to the level of impeachment not that he wasn't guilty of such.

How do you know what all the Senate Republicans believed? Regardless, Trump wasn't guilty because he committed no act to be found guilty of. Schiff, Nadler, Vindman, all of them, were promoting a lie, nothing more.

No it isn't...actually there have been almost 400 bills and 150 resolutions sent to the senate. Oh yes, the old 2016 election selection … #25 in the sanders/trump playbook. If you check you'll see that it is McConnell's senate that won't discuss or bring bills to the floor...that is a fact!)

Yet, Schiff was right! The Senate is quite used to "sit and do nothing". So lets turn it around and state that the only thing the republicans do is defend trump's missteps...though with a brief - and assumed authorization to do so - criticism of his insertion into the military among other things.

When there was nothing but a fabricated narrative to attempt to hold him accountable for.

"Out of 100 senators, zero believe you on the argument there is no quid pro quo," Cruz said to Trump's defense team, according to the senator's own recollection that he shared with CNN on Wednesday. "Stop making it," Cruz added.

Ted Cruz admits GOP senators knew 'no quid pro quo' was a lie now that Trump's trial is over

Either emboldened after his acquittal in the Senate impeachment trial or comfortable on the show of a longtime friend, President Trump told Geraldo Rivera on his podcast on Thursday that he had, in fact, sent his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani to Ukraine to investigate his political rivals. When Rivera asked if Trump if it was “strange to send Rudy Giuliani to Ukraine” and if he regretted the decision, Trump said, “No, not at all.”

The only quid-pro-quo in regard to Ukraine was at the hands of Joe Biden, who is on video demanding just such action in exchange for US aid money.

I appreciate that trumplicans believe this although no such evidence exists. What does exist is the fact biden's demand for action was not of his own making but that of the administration, the EU, the IMF, and anti-corruption activists in Ukraine...but I'm sure that you were aware of that. We also know that the investigations centered around 2010-2012 a few years before the son was involved...but I'm sure that you were aware of that too.

How do you know what all the Senate Republicans believed? Regardless, Trump wasn't guilty because he committed no act to be found guilty of. Schiff, Nadler, Vindman, all of them, were promoting a lie, nothing more.

See above...Cruz talked about it. "Schiff, Nadler, Vindman, all of them, were promoting a lie" ...oh right, trump never lies! Further, he lied about sending Giuliani, then the truth comes out.

When did Trump make that comment? As of March 12, Corona virus cases were at 1,325 and its estimated that 2.4 million tests exist that could cover 800,000 people in the United States. Im not sure we can actually say there were not enough tests available. Do we need more? Yes but we dont know what figures Trump saw so we dont know what hes basing his opinion on.

Maybe the corona virus was more important. What did congress do to address that? And why the delay in sending the articles to the senate? Did that help congress to address the epidemic?

Trump made the remark on or about March 6 … we've discussed this before. I'm not going to look it up, the point is whether need or want the tests were not readily available ...

You are still at "walk and chew gum"...I'm not going to waste time but to say that congress had in the past set out statutes giving the president emergency powers. It is the executive branch that holds the reigns such as "health and human services" with CDC, FDA I believe too. I believe you'll find in most cases the agencies that deal with such matters, as with COVID 19, come under the executive branch. What congress does is pass necessary legislation, as they are doing now. That is why Mnuchin and Pelosi were in so much contact to put through an aid package. You would have to explain the legal means for congress to circumvent and override the president and his cabinet secretaries ...

ok, in the very beginning of this crisis, what specific bill did congress pass to address the epidemic?

What specific bill should they have passed? A bill stating that there is a health crisis? Didn't you read what was posted the situation is under the domain of he executive branch … if you know that not to be true then post the appropriate information.

Here is proof: Trump Falsely Claims Anyone Who Needs a Coronavirus Test 'Can Get One' – Says Tests Are 'Perfect, Just Like the Transcript'
