I don’t believe that. Right now there is little to no incentive to save. Savings rates are next to nothing, however borrowing rates keep dropping. The message I see is spend spend spend and go into debt if necessary to do it.
and when people choose to do that they end up hurting the first time something goes south for them or the economy .

You missed the entire point of that post.

I may have to leave my job because I am at risk if this thing gets more widespread as I am already at high risk of contracting it because of my job. I live paycheck to paycheck. What am I supposed to do for pay?

I think since terminating your employment would be medically necessary and not voluntary on your part that you would be eligible to collect unemployment insurance. Don't take my word for it though check to make sure.

I do have a good job and paid time off. I’m advocating for those that don’t.

Then what I said apparently does not apply to you, but if you did get sick would you take the Paid leave?

What I said still applies to those who you are advocating for.

You realize that in this day and age, saving money is not as easy as it once was?

You remember my numbers, do you honestly think I could save anything? I am scraping coins to feed myself at the end of the two weeks in between paychecks.
Yes, I remember your numbers kind of low.

That would be awesome, but I'm not holding my breath.

Here’s a crazy idea, how about the companies themselves pay for it as a part of the cost of doing business. Like an actual functioning company would do.
OK but then how would that work as that ( unlike other costs can be hard to budget for).

The same way the companies that have paid sick time for their employees do it now. This isn’t rocket science.

Saving money is relative to it's own Day and Age, it isn't any more difficult today to save than it was for your Parents, or their Parents in their very own Day and Age, wages were lower.

If they offer it as a benefit they already budget for it year after year.

Unfortunately in my job if we dont work we dont get paid. We are self employed and cant pay ourselves to take the day off. There are many people that are self employed, painters, carpenters, roofers, handymen, ect.

I used to be one of those people though. I worked for a company that had no paid sick days and minimal vacation days. Usually asking for time off in advance was met with resistance or an outright no. I never called in sick, nor anyone else who wanted to keep their job, and they didn't care if we worked sick. I was applying for other jobs all the time but couldn't afford to quit. I don't think my story is rare in this country.

In one sense he is right. There have always been people that saved and people that did not and those who did usually have an easier time.

And Companies that have 20 employees would go out of business if it did get as bad as people believe.

Small businesses can't budget such things......GOOGLE, AMAZON, WALMART can, but Joe's nut and bolt shop can"t

Well with a Paid Sick Leave Mandate from the Government you would be forced to pay yourself, even if it meant going out of Business.

This whole idea is wacko, straight out of the Polosi, Schumer playbook.

Unless they did not have to shut down or this could work like FMLA. Where certain employees/employers are not covered.

I've done the same in my working carrier, but it still doesn't mean mandated sick leave by the Government is right.
