You keep saying that but the text does not support what you are saying. Show me where it says those who were written in the book from the foundations of the earth are blotted out. Show me please.

Yes the people who worship the beast were never written in the book and those who are written in the book will not worship the beast.

Yet, it was not based on UNconditional election or God electing them to do that. It was based on something they did wrong (like worshiping the beast). God surely did not elect men to worship the beast (as if that was His desire for their life).

Also, Romans 8:28-31 is in regards to external things that cannot separate you from the love of God. It does not mention "sin" or a person's own free will choice. Romans 8:13 says if you live after the flesh, you will die, but if you put to death the misdeeds of the body by the Spirit, you will live.

I already said it. Revelation 3 is talking about overcoming in relation to the blotting out of the book of life. This deals with salvation because the previous chapter (Revelation 2) talks about overcoming and not being hurt by the second death. The second death is the Lake of Fire (Revelation 21:8). Why mention something that is never even a possibility for us? It makes no sense. If Calvinism was true, it would say, "If you were elected by God you will overcome and not be blotted out, etc., etc." But it does not say that. It stressed on the point of overcoming and not Unconditional Election.

Obviously he is referring to me in his statement here. It's name calling or slanderous because he is suggesting that I am unteachable. For I said in a previous statement (that he quoted) that I do not believe in hiding the truth.

Who said God elected some to worship the beast?
It was based on something they did wrong (like worshiping the beast).
It was based on them not being elect and not having their names written in the Book. That's why the verse makes the distinction so no one concludes that people who are written in the Book will succumb to the beast.
God surely did not elect men to worship the beast (as if that was His desire for their life).
No he did not. But fallen man will do so on their own volition.

What does "as many as were ordained to eternal life believed" mean in Acts 13:48?

Well, Acts of the Apostles 13:48 says,
"And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed." (Acts of the Apostles 13:48).

Some believe the last part of the verse in Acts of the Apostles 13:48 is a Calvinistic statement. Meaning, some believe that God ordained (regenerated or saved) to eternal life those who will then later believe. Is that what this text is saying? I don't believe so.

I believe that knowing the meaning behind the words "eternal life" in Acts 13:48 and reading 2 Timothy 1:10, John 3:16, and the context of Acts 13 holds the key to understanding here.

2 Timothy 1:10 says,
"But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel" (2 Timothy 1:10).

According to 2 Timothy 1:10 above: Life and Immortality is through the GOSPEL.

"Life" and "Immortality" is just another way of saying "eternal life."

We also see "eternal life" mentioned in John 3:16 with the words "everlasting life."
For John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Here we learn that believing in him (Jesus) is to have everlasting life.

So when Luke writes in Acts 13:48, "...as many as were ordained to eternal life believed," Luke is using the words "eternal life" as being in reference to the "gospel message" or by "believing in Jesus Christ for everlasting life."

So let's replace the words "eternal life" with the words "hear the gospel and or believe in Christ for everlasting life" within Acts 13:48 and see what that looks like.

Acts 13:48, "...as many as were ordained to hear the gospel and or believe in Christ for everlasting life believed,"


In other words, Luke is saying that as many who were ordained to hear the gospel, or hear that Christ is our salvation by believing in him led to those who heard to believe. It's not talking about some kind of unconditional regeneration or salvation before one believes in the gospel.

Does this interpretation fit the context?

Absolutely!

The context is the gospel message being preached in Acts 13.

"Be it known unto you therefore, men
and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins" (Acts of the Apostles 13:38).

"And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath" (Acts of the Apostles 13:42).

What were they preaching?

Acts 13:38 says that they preached the forgiveness of sins.

What did they preach?

Luke writes of the death of Christ:

"And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain." (Acts of the Apostles 13:28).​

Luke writes of the burial of Christ:

"And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre." (Acts of the Apostles 13:29).​

Luke writes of the resurrection of Christ:

"But God raised him from the dead" (Acts of the Apostles 13:30).​

The gospel is defined as a belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ for salvation.

1 "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).​

This is the "eternal life" that was ordained to the Gentiles who believed. The gospel message of our salvation. Acts of the Apostles 13:48 is not talking about some kind of Calvinistic regeneration or salvation before believing in the gospel.

Acts of the Apostles 3:19 says, "Repent ye therefore, and be converted,"
Acts of the Apostles 16:31 says, "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."

So it is.... Repent and then you are converted.
It is.... Believe and then you are saved.
it is not the other way around.
Preach it, brother!

In discussions like these, it is good to declare the whole counsel of God, not just part of it. We must include everything that the Scripture says about election. Reading through the posts, I notice that 1 Peter 1:2 has not be mentioned, and one would think that it is an important reference to throw more light on the issue.
"Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied."

We must include the foreknowledge of God when we examine the issues of election and predestination. The question is whether God foreknew who were going to believe the gospel and put their faith in either the Messiah to come or the resurrected Christ, or He predestined who was going to be saved or lost, after that, foreknew it.

One is the horse pulling the cart, and the other is the cart pulling the horse, and we, on close examination of all the references to do with election and predestination, have to determine which is which.

29 "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

This calling refers to the gathering of the church, not those who will be saved during the millennial rule of Christ. Note verse 29.

Firstborn: The few called into the church.

Many brethren: The many saved during the White Throne judgment.

I'm not going to comment on each verse....as much of if not all of what you snipped from the bible is out of context.

Well, Acts 3 says to repent and be converted.
That would be the logical order. However "born of the Spirit" is the entire conversion of the soul. Faith, repentance and conversion are all part of it. No one even Calvinists put a temporal order of events, but do look at the logical order. But what in the world did that have to do with what I posted to you?

Also seals can be broken in the Bible. The Bible also teaches that sin can destroy a believer's soul, as well.
Show me where in the NT the seal of the Holy Spirit is broken. Show me where sin can destroy a believer's soul.

So glad all it took for you to be glad is me capitulating to you. Unfortunately all I said was that I never Said it was a proof text. I don't believe in proof texts. It's lazy. We should compare scripture to scripture to help with passages that we are unsure of, using the WHOLE Bible, not just a text here and a text there pulled out of context. I happen to believe that Acts 13:48 supports Reformed Theology. It doesn't PROVE it all by itself, but I BELIEVE it supports the theology.

I don't think you are looking at the actual text. From what you quoted in Revelation, none of those who worship the beast were ever written in the Book.

Yes, that doesn’t change anything. They are a special group of unbelievers. They will worship the beast in the future. This is not Unconditional Election because God gives us the conditions by which they were never saved. Unconditional Election is all about God electing or choosing based on no conditions within the individual. In fact, this would be a good opportunity to bring up UNconditional damnation of all the wicked; But no such thing is mentioned here.

Again, it is a contradiction to say that names can be blotted out in Calvinism. A name would forever be there if they were saved; Or a name would forever not be if they were elected to damnation. But names can be blotted out, which destroys UNconditional Election.

Also, what separates a person from God between the time of when they are a baby being saved and their being born again in being a believer?

Proof text is any text or any group of texts taken out of context.

What does prooftext mean?

In Acts 13, the context is the gospel being preached and it is not a description of some Calvinistic regeneration before one believes.

It STILL says they were ORDAINED whether it was to hear the gospel and believe or ordained to eternal life therefore heard the gospel and believed.

The Greek in ACTS 14:48 TASSO means to appoint.
