The Cross Nullified the Law

Having atoned for sin, salvation is no longer contingent upon compliance to the Law with its regulations. "When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross." Col 2:13-15

"So, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God." Rom 7:4

"I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" Gal 2:21

Yet many, including many alleged "Christians", are under the delusion that obtaining a righteous standing with God is a function of their compliance to legal regulations. These have not embraced the fundamental truth of the gospel. They have replaced the grace of God with their own righteousness. "You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace." Gal 5:4

The Cross Nullified the Law
.... Yet many, including many alleged "Christians", are under the delusion that obtaining a righteous standing with God is a function of their compliance to legal regulations.
Both are equally wrong. And for the same reason.

Yipee! We can all go out and lie, steal, murder, commit adultery, and continue in every sinful thing one can imagine ... no worries .... because of God's grace. Really? NOT.

The work of the Holy Spirit in the believer, He helps us keep the law ... His work .. not ours .... and we recognize and respond to (out of love for Him) and are changed (over the course of our lifetime) We are thankful for His work. The Holy Spirt also works in us to helps us to produce fruit.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (against other things there IS law)

John 14:15
English Standard Version
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

you will keep them because I am (Jesus) am working in you ... my grace is working in you every day to help you overcome your sin .... and sin is transgression of the Law.

His sanctification is a ongoing process.

Sanctification

It’s the reciprocation of our love toward God. We are sanctified with the help of the Holy Spirit (Comforter) that Jesus gives us. Sanctification means to set a part or to make holy. His Holy Spirit helps us in this process to become more like Christ. This is not a one time event; it’s a life long process (we stumble here and there). The process of sanctifying and purifying us (the works that Jesus does in the believer, and is not of ourselves) ... it is HIM working in us and through us. We are separated from the world. We are in the physical world but not of the world spiritually. Our mind (thinking) changes over time and therefore our actions also change. Our faith increases more and more as He faithfully works in us.

Hebrews 12:2
