why is there jerking and shaking in worship services?
People rely far too much on the ecstasy of working themselves up into an emotional state during some Church's worship. This can in fact become an addiction, and a dangerous one. Many of these Churches try to create emotionally manipulative music and services to create this.why is there jerking and shaking in worship services?
not humility nor pride, it is just a state of mindPeople rely far too much on the ecstasy of working themselves up into an emotional state during some Church's worship. This can in fact become an addiction, and a dangerous one. Many of these Churches try to create emotionally manipulative music and services to create this. The Christian is meant to be free of passion, and rely on the quiet prayer fullness the Holy Spirit brings. Teaching kids that the Holy Spirit is present by evidence of people breaking down into tears and lifting their hands in the air is a destructive heresy. It makes the less emotional children feel as if they do not have the Holy Spirit because they are not affected by the "worship". Christ said to pray in a place not seen by others. Does waving your hands around and trying to look as spiritual as possible accomplish this? Is it of humility, or of pride?
I made a joke earlier, but now I want to seriously respond.why is there jerking and shaking in worship services?
Derek Prince said that if rolling makes us holy, then let's roll!I would not limit the Spirit by telling him he can't prompt people to act in ways that may seem unusual to some. I came up in some "Holy Roller" churches. It's not all fake.
Jerking is a more modern phenomenon that started, to my knowledge, in the Bethel church. It is not found in the New Testament. My view is that someone in a service had a tourette (involuntary spasm that happens to people), and it was mistakenly seen as something that came from the Holy Spirit, so in order for people to think they are more spiritual doing it, people copied it, and it became an integral component of what is thought are Holy Spirit manifestations.why is there jerking and shaking in worship services?
Trying to achieve some "state of mind" is pride in itself, that the Holy Spirit somehow needs catchy music and fiery preaching in order to move the heart. People get so used to that, that when the dry spells come, when prayer is hard, or when they are suffering from despondency- that they slide away from the faith because they think the problem is with them. The early church kept things very simple with music and preaching, so as to keep the passions of both the people, and those in charge of the services, at bay.not humility nor pride, it is just a state of mind
Paul was quite plain about where the real power of the Holy Spirit is. He said that the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to those who believe.1 Co 14:40
Let all things be done decently and in order.
Does it appear as though it is in order when it happens?
Does it have a Purpose, or is it just said to be the Power of the Holy Spirit?
Is it Scriptural?
