The crucially important Parable of the Wedding Banquet, telling us we must have a certain garment to be able to be there in the Life with Him! See just above for some more about that, a few posts up, and His parable will help warn and encourage us to clothe ourselves in the critically necessary garments we all must have.
You See? we always get what we ask for. You wanted one to link natural wedding garments with the spiritual.. You believed it and saw it as if it was already here...... and now here it is. The prayer of the righteous avails.

Yep, but the spiritual garment given to us by God.

I dress in my Sunday best. The Church is God's house and I was raised to respect that. It seems to me we have lost a lot of respect in our modern times and culture
The church building is not God's house. The people are God's dwelling.
Acts 7:48
‘However, the Most High does not live in houses made by human hands.

Respect is is about a bunch of made up societal norms a lot the times. How is it disrespectful to wear what I want to wear if there is no stipulated dress code? Some people are raised to not care about appearance that much. Now if there is a dress code and you don’t follow that is disrespectful. But how I was raised isn’t usually the best argument on why something should be that way.

I don't care what you wear, show up like a bum. As for me I will show utmost respect for God's house and dress appropriately to be in the presence of the King of the Universe

Than we disagree. I believe Christ Real Presence is in the Eucharist and we have the reserve Sacrament in the Church so the Church is the House of God. I am not an evangelical nor a bible alone type.

Sometimes, we individuals, may find ourselves in a 1rst Corinthians chapter 8 situation (which isn't about only 1 thing, but anything which could cause some in our congregation to fall).

That has nothing to do with what I said.
You just stated that the church building is not God's house........and went into how you would respect the dresscode of our buildings and situations, like a state banquet. So why is it hard to imagine respecting the wishes of those who run a church?

Lol well that’s rude.... I sure hope you do that at all times since you kinda are always in his presence. Since rudeness has entered in I will exit with you. Have a great day and appreciated the conversation.

Easy respect is dead in modern society, it's now what I want goes

Was not meant as rude, but direct. You need not place an emotion on something where none was. Remember these are electrons, words on a page without emotions.

Christ's real presence in in his people. I guess you must be RC.

Not everyone who believes in the Real Presence is Catholic and should not be assumed to be such. I am a liturgical Christian

I see your point. Some people don't want you to wear shoes inside their house because they want their white carpet spotless. While your own principle is that shoes inside the house is fine, if you are entering someone else's house, you would respect her wishes.

At the same time, do you think that clothing reinforces the sense of cliquishness in church small groups? In an affluent church group where all the women have their hair done and dress nice, I've found it hard to make friends unless I dress nice...not very fond of that kind of pressure since I want to go there to study God's Word and have a genuine fellowship.
Yes, the religious church is an organization with members who agree to follow the same rules, dress codes, have similar beliefs and different sections on forums. Those that believe the same stick together and stay away from those the think different....for they must be ye separate.

But such in the case in other organizations as well....with silos base on titles, income, dress codes, interests etc.

I find no fault in any organization being run how the owners would like them run.

I separate work done in the flesh with that of the spirit........and they that walk after the spirit, no longer mind the things of the flesh....

Even if not in Rome ;-), the saying 'when in Rome, do as the Romans do' has a certain merit, ala 1rst Corinthians chapter 8, in how we may forgo a freedom at times because of someone that doesn't understand it and for whom it really is a problem.

On the other hand, wonderfully sometimes it's not that way when we think it is though!

Kinda left field, but really connects: I thought this was a wonderful anecdote from a person who might possibly one day be a sister:

The Super Christian(s) -- clothing being central (!?) --....sometimes are not what we guess -- (but it's a lesson for all, here):
The Moth | Stories | Family Roots
(after page loads, click "Listen Now" near to bottom)

Of course, it can go either way, but we can hope. Love hopes regardless of all things. (1 Cor 13)

If you look back I actually said:
I think the clothes we should wear to church are the ones our Father provides: The full armour of God and the garment of praise. Also we should be clothed with Christ.
Galatians 3:27
for all of you who were baptised into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

To which you replied: We should walk with God Naked and unashamed........ We should enter buildings trying to respect the wishes of the owners/patrons of the buildings.

Which had nothing to do with my post.

Sorry, I don't know what that is. I'm just a plain and simple Christian with an allegiance to no particular denomination.

Also, going someplace unclothed is totally contrary to all of God's Word , Plan and Purpose in Christ Jesus, regardless of the pagan building or community living that way.

Everyone with the beautiful character of Christ Jesus inside, will likewise always obey Him in the dress outwardly, not giving in to the sinfulness of society anyplace in any way.

Sometimes, we individuals, may find ourselves in a 1rst Corinthians chapter 8 situation (which isn't about only 1 thing, but anything which could cause some in our congregation to fall).

We have time to squabble about things like this. Christians in other places who are facing harder trials are focusing on other matters. The disagreements come back to sin.

If the well-dressed are trying to belittle others through their clothing that’s sinful.

If the smartly dressed is filled with disdain over the casually dressed congregants that’s sinful.

If the casually dressed is making snide remarks in his mind about people in other attire that’s sinful.

If the poorly dressed is griping about others who have more than he does that’s sinful.

The heart is deceitful. If we entered with our mind on God we wouldn’t fall for Satan’s ploys. All these musings distract us from Him and the message being shared.

Cast them down and turn your mind elsewhere.
