I read Job 13 and found it very Interesting can we talk about the meaning, and people give there insight to this text , Thanks

Job 13
13 Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.

2 What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.

3 Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

4 But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.

5 O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

6 Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.

7 Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?

8 Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?

9 Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?

10 He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.

What we need to know is who Job is speaking to. In fact, he is speaking to his three friends who are giving him inaccurate advice about the reasons for his condition. He is not speaking to every person in general. Therefore, this is written for us, not to us.

So, Job is saying to these friends that he understands everything they are saying to him, and he knows what they know, so he is not inferior to them in knowledge about sin causing suffering. He says that he can go to God speak to Him and get the truth, so he tells his friends to "shut up", because they are just giving him a pack of lies in what they are telling him about the reasons for his suffering - that he has sinned in some way and that God is punishing him.

Job then says whether they would want to argue against God, or speak evil on His behalf, or that is it good that God would search their hearts, or would they mock God as they would mock others. Job says if they have that attitude, then God would come and sort them out and reprimand them for their presumption.

What Job is saying is that will his friends accept the person of God, or will they argue against Him? Their view is that God is punishing Job for some sin, Job is not aware of any sin that might have caused his suffering. Job is really saying to his friends do they think that God should examine what they are saying to him, or will they mock God, thinking that their opinion is right, and have the presumption that God might agree with them. Job thinks that if they believe that God will agree with their lies, they would be mocking God, not taking Him seriously. Job is saying that God will come and reprimand them because they are thinking in human terms in their limited view of suffering, that it has to be caused by sin, when it could be for an entirely different reason that none of them know about.

Oscar i just noticed your from New zealand, Napier here:wave:
Great! I used to live in Palmerston North, and visited Napier often. Palmerston North Teen Challenge had a couple of outreaches there in the 1970s, and I was a part of them. After that in 1995, I spent a year in Hastings and did teacher relieving in Hastings and Napier. Small world!
