Are we saved by faith alone or faith plus works?

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom ofGod, and his righteousness; and allthese things shall be added unto you.

I said:
Another silly snide remark.

I'm sorry and I've been very patient in answering all your questions, but you have crossed the line and removed any credibility you think you've had in the forums by calling the scriptural words of Jesus silly.
Just to make sure my previous post was clear, I'm requoting Tim's post #483 where he quoted Matt 6:33 and then my comment from post #471 where I unfortunately left off his actual snide remark and one of 2 verses. I captured only Matt 6:33, which Tim then claimed my comment was directed at Matt 6:33.

Then, in Tim's post #491, regarding my comment about his comment being a snide remark, he said this:
"Yes in reference to Jesus' quote. You don't fool anyone here that reads these posts. Neither with your claims I don't explain anything.. more false witness. The pages are full."

Then Tim's post #494 said this:

He quoted my response to his false claim:
"Absolutely NOT. It was in direct reference to your own comment."

Then responded with:
"My only comment was that piece of scripture. It is there for all to read."

So, he seems to have forgotten that my comment about his snide remark was what he commented about BEFORE he quoted 2 verses, one of which was Matt 6:33.

For starters that comes later. What first?
OK, let's review the 3 tenses of salvation.

Past tense: we have been saved from the penalty of sin. Justification.
Present tense: we are being saved from the power of sin. Sanctification.
Future tense: we will be saved from the presence of sin. Glorification.

This is the scope of God's salvation of mankind.

Let the questions begin.

Good. Define sin.
Easy. The Greek word means, "to miss the mark".

As used in Scripture, it means to miss the standards that God has set up for mankind to obey. iow, man cannot obey God's standards.

I said:

Is putting God's will before our own and loving all as self that impossible as an individual? Why would Jesus command us to do that?
Your questions miss the point. Do you think man is able to obey God's standards (Mosaic Law)? Please answer.

God gave His chosen people the Law. And they couldn't keep it. So why would anyone think anyone else could keep it?

I just gave them and responded. Jesus' two commandments covered all commandments from God that went before. And quite frankly, before the Kingdom, what was the incentive when up to that point dead was dead.

"gave them"?? I asked a question. One question. yes or no.

I don't understand your second sentence. Sorry.

The incentive was that God's law was God's law; from God.
God told the Israelites to keep it and remember his covenant. He did not say, "well, you needn't keep this because it will become obsolete in a few thousand years anyway".

You said this:
" And quite frankly, before the Kingdom, what was the incentive when up to that point dead was dead."
There was no resurrection nor any place to be resurrected to.
OK, so that's what you meant.

Well, let's see what Scripture says about that.

Matt 22:31,32
31But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you,
32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”

As Jesus told the Sadducees, I'll tell you:

Are you not mistaken?

So everybody went to the Kingdom before Jesus came along. There was no good news of the Kingdom?
Your questions continue to demonstrate your vagueness.

Where did the souls of believers go after physical death? Maybe this will clarify things.

Soul means body. Flesh went to the grave (hell - sheol translated to hades). The dead know nothing so who is to say how God stores the data that is the spiritual us to be either deleted or renewed upon the opening of the books of life.

Soul means body.
Please consult any lexicon. The soul is immaterial, in contrast to the body, which is material.

Flesh went to the grave (hell - sheol translated to hades). The dead know nothing so who is to say how God stores the data that is the spiritual us to be either deleted or renewed upon the opening of the books of life.
So, it seems you believe in "soul sleep" or something similar. The Bible has a number of passages that deal with souls ALIVE after death, and CONSCIOUS as well.

Rev 5:9 and Luke 16, for starters.
