I know many fundamentalists have this false notion that "religious freedom means, if I don't approve of something, nobody else should be allowed to do it in public because I don't want to have to see or hear it"...but that's not what it means. If people weren't allowed to express themselves in public in ways that other people didn't like out of fear of them being offended, then nobody would be allowed to do anything.

And in an atheist country any expression of Christianity can be disliked by the admins and can be proscribed.

In every country moral laws usually reflect the beliefs of founder and or current admins, and in a democracy, those of the people via electing (directly or indirectly) the interpreters of the founding or ruling documents. Thus this will mean that freedom means what the prevailing ideology (which usually flows from religion) hold as moral and beneficial. And as Christianity was at one time the overall "civil religion" in the USA, then thus evangelicals contend for laws that reflect traditional morality.

But as society has changed, thus we have the absurd idea that the Founders here (which esteemed the need for public morality, overall affirmed the necessity of religion for this) would affirm homosexual marriage, as well as porn being protected, etc..

They are the victims of employment discrimination (in many states it is still legal to fire someone for being gay,) bigotry driven violence (trans women are at risk of being MURDERED just for being trans,) and being treated by people like you as if they are disgusting, bad, sinful, and dirty just because of the way they were born. I could go on, but I think that is plenty.

“Sodomy” is not a biblical term. The Bible does talk about “sodomites” but those are people, not actions; and it never defines what makes them sodomites.
