I'm looking forward to taking a deep dive into this forum.

My mother is Christian, my father is Muslim.
I was Christened a Roman Catholic Christian shortly after birth.
I attended 2 Roman Catholic Schools.
I became Agnostic for a year or two.
I then became Muslim for a few years.
and Now I'm atheist again.

However, I think it's very important to question my beliefs or lack thereof, so I've been reading the bible and studying.
I want to believe in god, however I don't think a person has a choice in whether or not they can force themselves to believe in anything.

Lately, I feel like Christianity is calling to me.
I feel like Islam is definitely not a direction I want to travel in again.

I'm very confused but I'm hoping that Christianity can sway me, I want to start going to church again and maybe I'll hear the right combination of words or my heart will soften and I will change my mind.

I think you're right. Welcome to CF. This is a good place to explore your options.

Glad to have you here! If you feel comfortable, would you be willing to talk about why you left Christianity in the first place and maybe what's calling you back? Perhaps that might be helpful to bring to the surface your feelings so maybe we can provide assistance and support for you. I agree that it is God who calls us but it sounds like you are already being called although there is some ambivalence or uncertainty about what exactly you're being called to.

Hi EzekielsWheels.

I guess I left Christianity originally because my family drifted away from religion after my very pious grandmother died and it seemed like all along maybe she was the reason why we were going to church and no one actually really believed in Christianity apart from one aunt but she was quite the fundamentalist.

Big Bang, Evolution were the most plausible explanations for our universe to me and I didn't see any need to add a creator on top of that.

On top of that everyone who was teaching me about Christianity seemed to be selectively declaring certain parts of the bible were arbitrarily either false or a metaphor, there seemed to be no objective reasoning for why a verse or story may be declared a metaphor. I couldn't fathom how to base my worldviews on something that wasn't objective.

It's the middle of the night for me here but the Lord put you on my mind. I'm reading the epistle of Romans Chapter 10 verse 13 where it says call on the name of the Lord and you will be saved and so I think if you ask Jesus Christ to reveal himself to you and show you the truth and to open your heart to the truth he is good and just to show himself to you. Ask him to remove all error and deception from your mind and heart so you can know the truth by faith.

Hi Zobers;
Welcome to CF; May the Lord Jesus guide you here as well as in the world; and may you find friends and what ever you need from the Lord here. I do have a question for you; do you like music--Praise & Worship music? Well we have a new forum here at CF just for P&W music and at the top is a directory of other Christian music threads around CF; come and take a look!
