The earth's gravity also caused tides on the moon. So much so that at present one side of the moon is now locked on to the earth. This had the secondary effect of causing the moon to drift very slowly away from the earth in its orbit. Orbital mechanics is actually very well understood and explained by Newtonian physics.

Before Newton existed Jesus walked on water.

I'm not quite understanding the purpose of this thread, other than maybe it makes a point about how you should question EVERYTHING. It's the Conspiracy Theories section.

The observation of gravity is one of the founding principles of the scientific method. You drop an apple from a tower, it accelerates downward at 32.2 ft/s^2. I don't know how gravity is to be defined a "theory"--that is a scientific observation, intended to test a theory. Gravity is simply defined to be that observation.
Now, where theory comes in is when physicists attempt to unify all forms of energy into one. We've built multi-billion-dollar atom smashers like CERN for the express purpose to test that theory. Definitely far more difficult than dropping an apple.
It IS the name given to an observation, but it is explained with theory, ergo...

Ha! I'm reading a novel and came across this:

"Maybe," Ivan said, reaching out, "everything is in the middle [of observable scale] from its point of view. Maybe there is no middle." They were out the door and on the sidewalk before Claude said, "Hey we didn't pay him." He went back in and paid the man 50 cents. "Sorry."
The man nodded. "Tell me something. Do you understand what he's talking about?" He seemed genuinely curious.
"Not all of it. I usually get the drift, though."
"That must be some school you boys go to. I get 'em in here all the time, but that fella takes the cake." He moved down the counter, shaking his head.
"He thinks you're nuts," Claude said as they walked toward the river.
"Sure he does. He thinks a ten pound cannonball falls faster than a one-ounce marble too. He'd bet money on it." Ivan quickened his step.
"It's been 350yrs since they proved that everything falls at the same rate, and that fellow still doesn't know it. But then, even Newton, most elegant of thinkers - no, I take that back, second most elegant of thinkers - even Newton, although he knew it, didn't know what to do with it. You know his explanation?"
"No I don't."
"He just sidestepped it. He'd worked out damn near everything else. The principle of inertia, the three laws of motion, all that, and it was really beautiful. But his law of gravitation? The cannonball and the marble? I just read a description. How did it go? He stopped dead in the street, raised his head, and stared at the sky, repeating from memory: " 'The material force by which one body attracts another body increases with the mass of the object it attracts. If an object is small, its inertia is small, but the force that gravity exerts on it is also small. If an object is big, it's inertia is great, but the force that gravity exerts on it is also great. Hence gravity is always exerted in the precise degree necessary to overcome the inertia of any object. And that is why all objects fall at the same rate, regardless of their inertial mass.' Lincoln Barret."
"You mean you memorized that?" Claude said, his voice rising. "You remember it word for word?"
Ivan started walking again. "No, no," he said impatiently, "it's just a trick. I can see the page in my mind. Sort of read it again. It's useful sometimes, but it doesn't mean anything."
"Wow."
"But you see how he fudged it? That's some kind of coincidence, gravity adjusting to inertia like that. No experiments to back it up. And what about gravity acting instantaneously over millions of miles? Inverse of the distance not withstanding. Instantaneously? Like nothing else in nature?. Einstein didn't believe it."
"Is that why he -"
"That and a lot of other things. All the tag ends of this and that, little discrepancies, various conundrums like absolute motion. We say something is going a thousand miles an hour, but what if the thing it's going on is going ten thousand miles an hour in a different direction?"
"Subtract?" Claude suggested.
"And the solar system is moving and the galaxy is moving, and the universe is expanding? There isn't any fixed point. There isn't anything stationary to measure from. You see the problem?"
They reached the promenade and sat on their favorite bench. The day was bright and crisp, the river glittering in the sun. For a few moments they ate, drank, and regarded the scene. Behind them they could hear the shouts of boys playing basketball behind the high wire fences of the Bentley School playground.
"Einstein was only 6yrs older than I am when he saw the new system," Ivan said. "And it's taking everything I've got to even begin to understand it."
"Don't worry about it," Claude said, licking his fingers. "You should hear some of the music Mozart wrote when he was 6 & 7."
"The trouble is, we're so thoroughly trained by what we see directly." He spread his arms to indicate the vista before him. "The banks of the river. The river. That tug with barges going upstream. The sunshine. Clouds up above. It's our little system and it's hard to push one's imagination beyond it."
"So what did he say about gravity?"
"It's the same as inertia. You know when you go up in an elevator? When it's accelerating and your stomach goes bloop? Well, everything in that elevator gets pulled down equally regardless of its weight. Your stomach or the change in your pockets, no difference."
"But that doesn't work. They're standing upside down in China. The earth can't be accelerating in two different directions."
"It can, actually, but that isn't relevant. The elevator image is what he calls a thought experiment. It starts getting very complicated as he builds them. I'm working on it but you get some wild stuff. Everything is related. Matter is just congealed energy. Energy - light, radiation, et cettera - is just, uh, released mass. Space itself is affected by the mass in it. It sort of bends around heavy stuff, ergo light bends as well."
"What do you mean? Space? Emptiness? Emptiness bends?"
"Yes, I know. It's hard to imagine because we can't visualize it. But the fact is, there's only one constant, unchanging thing in the universe - the speed of light.
It's the same everywhere. It doesn't change if the source is coming towards you or going away. it always moves at 186,282.4 miles per second. It helps me to not even think of the speed, but to just think it is. I mean light is.
"You've lost me," Claude said.

Below is a post I made on a previous thread, which I believe demonstrates a falsification of the theory of gravity (i.e. the universal theory of gravity). The phenomena known as gravity is real enough to our experience, whatever it is caused by (e.g. buoyancy, or other forces).

If gravity is real (i.e. everything they say), why doesn't the weight of an object change between mid-day and mid-night? According to the theory of gravity (and universal law of gravitation), a 500g object should change in weight by 0.6g between day and night (due to attraction of the object to the sun, toward and away from the Earth, between night and day respectively).

Someone posted the video below, claiming that it proved heliocentrism because 'gravity' was measured differently at different latitudes. My claim is that the experiment disproves gravity, because in the same location between day and night, the apparent weight should change as much as the difference between lowest to highest measurement, simply due to the position of the sun.

F = G. m1. m2 / r^2, with commonly accepted (heliocentric based) masses of Earth, sun, ball-Earth diameter, and Earth-sun radius.

Force of sun on 500g object ~ 2.96E-03N.
Force of Earth on 500g object ~ 4.93N.
So force on object with sun overhead ~ 4.93 - 2.96E-03 = 4.9269N
So force on object with sun underneath ~ 4.93 + 2.96E-03 = 4.9328N

Converting the above back to masses (as scale reads in mass, not force), using g = 9.81m.s-2 as an approximation as scale calibration is not changed, one gets roughly 502.23g and 502.83g (between day and night). The experimenter was aware of no such deviation, indicating a falsification of the commonly accepted theory of gravity and the "universal law of gravitation".

I like this guy, only he is in this video where I was a few years back when I was still a Globe-earther laughing and making fun of Flat Earthers, .. what we were taught to do.

There is no "space with planets", the earth is most definitely flat and not a globe that's supposed to be curving 8"mi^2 +

My biggest problem was explaining away gravity, until I seen this video (You know all about it Mr. Otto from the other OP)

This proved to me without any doubt that gravity did not exist, but left me questioning why things fall down, and not sideways or up?

But then, what makes a rock a rock, or why doesn't the sun burn up?
Here is just one explanation, again, explained as if the sun was a 432,450 mile wide burning sphere in an expanding vacuum, yet NASA by looking through a telescope can tell everything about it, including its mass .. a big LOL
What Prevents The Sun From Burning Out All At Once?

They say this with as much confidence as when NASA announces the last "Another perfect space shuttle docking with the ISS" in their imaginary expanding-spacetime fabric.

The ISS is supposedly traveling 17,150m/p/h 248 miles up IN space-vacuum.
First, the shuttle, from a sitting position on the ground must find the speck of dust ISS, with no streets, no cables hooked up, no idea where it is "relative-to", .. yet time after time the space shuttle, from dead stop on earth, goes into space, slows exiting the atmosphere and then speeds up perfectly in the ISS track, and closes in at snail speed, and docks within fraction of an inch between the bay doors.

Yet they never even got a control of the LLRV here on earth,

.. in air the weight of the LLRV is sitting on the booster rockets, have total control of two axis, or directions, up and down.
Also, the Astronauts are not in darkness, but floating on air keeping a steady altitude and having visual, and physical feel to everything happening.
There is NO weight in supposed space, there is no up, or down that here on earth eliminates the worry in controlling the two axis, and holds the LLRV like ropes anchored down. But in space, there is countless directions the shuttle can go, like points on a sphere, and there is no way to tell which direction, or how many directions you are going at once?

here is the headline to this video: LLRV Testing Contributed to Apollo 11's Success

Just like the Space suit experiment in NASA's vacuum chamber where the Astronaut wiped out, passed out instantaneously, and no other experiment was shown having been done after that!? So a failed experiment is enough for NASA to perfect walking into a perfect vacuum of cold dark space, and a failed space flight in the LLRV to dock over and over again with other objects in the vastness of space? LOL, .. in their dreams.
If they abandoned the idea here on earth, how much more before taking it into the vastness of space!?
If the test failed here in air with weight on the jets, then it would fail a million times over in space.

Same with gravity, the NASA vacuum chamber experiment failed to show gravity, it proved that everything falls to the ground, there is no "force" in mass, or none of the G-force.

Sorry, not quite.

If gravity is real (i.e. everything they say), why doesn't the weight of an object change between mid-day and mid-night?

This is actually what causes solar tides (which are hard to notice, because they're small compared to lunar tides). You miscalculated the effect, though -- it's actually very, very tiny. There is a correct analysis in the answers here: Are we slightly lighter during the day and slightly heavier at night, owing to the force of the Sun's gravity?

This graph shows experimental data exactly matching the theory:

Hello Steve! Can you show us which scale was used to determine this; "millionth of a kg."? Or is this based on the assumption that mass has a G-force, .. because that's been proven false.

Oh? By whom?
By Brian Cox and NASA scientists in their Giant Vacuum Chamber experiment.

at time 2:30 they are laughing at their own ignorance, since the laws of gravity supposedly is:

1. Gravity is the "force" that attracts a body to the center of the earth, or ANY other physical body having mass.
2. This means that anything with mass has a gravitational force.
3. Gravity pulls falling objects to the ground.
4. It applies to objects of all sizes, stating that the more mass an object had, the more it attracted other objects.

Then the 8,000 times more massive then the feather bowling ball should have passed the feather up. But as you can see, they dropped and reached the bottom at exactly the same time.
Gravity does not exist, .. thing fall to the earth, just as Jesus said:
Luke 10:18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."
.. not "gravitate from heaven".

Gravity is a property of the effect on space/time caused by mass. Newton's equations are adequate enough to make space travel possible.

According to Newton's Law of Gravity, since the feather is 8000 times less massive the force of gravity on it is also 8000 times less .........

But as you can see, they dropped and reached the bottom at exactly the same time.

This is precisely what Newton's Second Law of motion predicts. The experiment confirms both laws.

Yes, in a computer simulation anything is possible with mathematics.

But in real life, well that's another story.

Now imagine Buzz trying to maneuver that in spacetime vacuum, where every tiny adjustment would take you in another direction with no reference point to go by?

Space and, galaxies and the good old paper-globe earth (the only real thing about the globe) exist only in a computer mainframe. The reality is Gods Heaven (up) and His footstool earth (down) with a dome above us that scientists like the ones at NASA use to bounce off HAARP to cause whales and other fish to go crazy and beach themselves.

This is precisely what Newton's Second Law of motion predicts. The experiment confirms both laws.

That would be true if the only thing that had gravity is the globe-earth, but NASA and fellow scientists go by these laws when they built their computer simulation "space/universe":

So the feather and the bowling ball has its own g-force too, so add that to the gravity of this globe, and the 8,000 times the mas/G-force of the bowling ball should have passed up the feather in the vacuum chamber.
But then that would be going by real science as you can see in that video, not the imaginary spacetime fabric that NASA scientists have created in a computer.
(please see video in previous post titled: "NASA Insight-Mars Landing")
I'm sure that the scientists would have caught that if they really did go into 'space', .. but because no one has, what they do in the computer works every time.
This is why 'every Space shuttle docking with the ISS is perfect, time after time, because that's how it was programmed in their simulation. So in truth, all them scientists and engineers sitting front of them screens at the Space control center are watching a computer simulation that can't go wrong. Unless it was programmed to go wrong so they could justify a few more billion dollars for another fake simulation-landing.

Here is what is even more amazing: I asked one of those NASA science question sights on the internet "if a 16,000 lb. elephant and a .0025gr feather would fall at the same rate in a vacuum like the bowling ball and feather did?"

They said "yes", that all mass, no matter the size would fall to earth at the same rate. (they went by what you said above)

So I sked: Going by the 4 rules/laws on gravity I took off science sites, that "if you put our moon, and an 8,000 times more massive moon at the same height within earths gravity, next to each other in space above the earth, and let them go, .. then they too should fall to earth at the same rate, correct?"

… no answer yet. ??

Do you, or any other Globe-earth believer in NASA-space have an answer for me?

Thank you ahead of time.
