It is often said in the non-Christian community that prayer merely is a way of expressing hope or good intentions, or to create optimism or positivity. But that it does not actually "work."

In other words, prayer does not actually manifest tangible effects in healing or restoration.

Does anyone have testimonies over how PRAYER itself helped or healed you or others?

Thanks, :)

non chrisitans or sinners "Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth."

OT..under the law "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer [shall be] abomination."

OT:If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear [me]:

OT "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear."

So ME..if I am praying for someone.. I always make sure I have repented.. we have CHRIST IN US.. but that sin can still stop us from receiving. And there is SO much about the Father of our lord Jesus Christ I dont know.. Paul 1st Saul.. was killing Christians.. yet Christ appears before him. The heart.. only HE knows the heart..

I do believe prayer can have an affect on our world. People often ask how prayer can change anything if God already has history pre-determined. Someone described it to me once as being like a stage play. There is a pre-determined storyline and lines the actors have to speak. But they are allowed to ad-lib here and there if they want to. Ultimately, the story starts and ends the same, but the little details in between can be altered slightly to the wills of the individual actors.

So when we ask for something that doesn't alter God's ultimate "storyline", He may allow us that thing we ask for. It may seem to be a significant development in the story at our level, but from God's perspective, it's just one slightly altered line in the vast epic of history.

Having said all that, I do believe I have seen answers to my prayers plenty of times. This past summer I was suffering a horrible eye condition that at times left me almost blind in one eye and in excruciating pain constantly. It would hit me with zero warning and kept re-occurring over and over again for months. I began to lose hope because it really seemed like I would have this the rest of my life, and online testimonials seemed to affirm that fear...

I asked God why He was having me go through this, as I had already endured a different kind of eye condition as a child and therefore didn't take my eyesight for granted at all. I wondered if He had something to teach me and asked Him to show me what that thing was.

Long story short, the pain and fear was what it took to get me back to doing daily devotions, which I had all but given up for over a year. When you are suffering like that, any word from God is precious and comforting, so I was desperate to hear from Him.

I ended up turning to a passage which seemed to clearly indicate an area of my life with which God was not happy, and an area which I already knew I was borderline unrepentant... The next morning, I turned to another passage where God was expressing His love to His people and that despite their rebellion, He had decided to heal them and be close to them again.

I had gone to the eye doctor and they tried one procedure which seemed to work at first, but then the pain came right back which was very discouraging. So they tried a different treatment and I once again waited it out to see if the pain would finally go away. The same day that I read about God promising His healing, I was at work when suddenly my affected eye felt like there was a cool breeze blowing on it. I had another appointment that evening, and the eye doctor said my eye was 99% healed! I actually was trying not to laugh the whole time, because I knew that was what she was going to say! When I felt that coolness on my eye, I just... knew.

I really do believe that God heard me crying out to Him in my pain. But it wasn't like He just healed me and there was no cost. I was forced into a place of repentance for a sinful behavior I had been engaging in, and I had to address that behavior before the healing happened.

So that's my story. :)

Oh! But I actually left out a whole side to that story which was also an answer to pray - only a prayer of restoration rather than healing.

Around the same time that my eye condition developed, I was unexpectedly cut off from the only real friend I have. We had been in touch regularly for four years, but suddenly circumstances separated us and despite my efforts to stay on touch, my friend didn't seem all that anxious to reconnect with me... Then the pain in my eye began and I suddenly found myself not only virtually friendless, but in pain, too!

It didn't make sense to me why God would take away my closest friend right when I needed a friend the most. Yet, I also was reminded of the truth that there is no friend like Jesus. And if Jesus is my best friend, I had been treating him even worse than my friend had treated me... Considering what Jesus gave up for me, how could I even live with myself for neglecting Him and knowingly committing sins that He had to pay for?! So that was the lesson I learned from losing my friend.

Not long after, I went to get ice cream by myself and then walked to a lake by myself. And suddenly memories of good times with my friend came flooding back and I couldn't help but shed tears over the loss... I asked God again to somehow restore my friend to me, because despite Jesus' friendship, I still deeply needed the companionship of my earthly friend.

While driving home from the lake, guess what? I arrived at an intersection near my home at exactly the same time my old friend drove up to the intersection! I waved and continued to my home, not expecting anything to happen. But my old friend parked next to me and asked me to go with him to a restaurant! I got into his car and as we drive down the road together, it was like a dream. I hadn't seen my friend for six months, and suddenly we were going to go eat together? Could I really say it was just a coincidence that this happened right after I had begged God one last time to reconnect with my friend?

A week and a half later, God gave me healing to take away the pain in my eye.

It was actually a very good summer. :)

My prayer to know truth taught me to trust God to lead me instead of false prophets. I've had many answers to prayer as well as blessings I didn't even request.

When our pre-school daughter was hospitalized and was unresposive to everything around her including several nurses and doctors, I begged God to heal her. Our former pastor and a church member joined us in prayer in her hospital room and she recovered a very short time later. It was amazing!

I think if you do not pray at all, you will not receive much from God!

What is happening in these last times in my life:
After i started asking God to help me a lot, i had some spiritual problems i couldn't resolve the name of Jesus didn't work if i tried to drive those evil spirit related problems, but after asking a lot for help for months, and insisting, it started to work, i got cured from OCD like this, i don't have those intrusive thoughts anymore, i also think some symptons related to my autism are demonic and after driving out some spirits out that i could detect thanks to God, some of those symptons dissapeared, some i had since i was a kid.
Also i had some problems with some sins that i couldn't stop doing, and after like i said asking a lot for help, God gave me something i could only describe as a spiritual blessing, that drowned some of those those sin desires and made me think in better things. I think He also told me he is going to make this blessing grow, and for now it is growing. Let see what happens.

Peace.

I really like your story! That makes total sense. I feel like despite our great suffering, God allows us to go through it so that we can learn and grow from it, as painful as it may be. The most important thing is to not give up faith or God. To believe He will be there for you, that He wants the best for you. You definitely got this message down pat here. Thanks for sharing and spreading faith!:heart::heart:

What's also a blessing in disguise is that the eye condition I had could theoretically return at any time in my life... The procedure done to heal it left it feeling dry and uncomfortable for a few days. So ever since, when that eye feels dry, it scares me just enough to remind me of the sin I turned away from. It is exactly the interruption I needed to a cycle of sin that I couldn't seem to break out of. Only God could have known what it would take to get me to that place.

God has healed me of a variety of (minor) physical ailments and afflictions (inflammations, infections and the like). I went on a fast and he healed a pain in my knee that I had for about a decade I believe. The thing is that God is actually preserving you and constantly healing you as we speak. Whenever you're not getting sick or falling to pieces (which I hope is always for you) it's because God is keeping you together.
