  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you think Christians sin? If so, what common unconfessed sins do you think Jesus forgives?

The way of the cross is like a sea saw. It is weighted over time. There are two sides to us. The flesh, and the Spirit. If we invest purely in the flesh, we begin to be over come by it. If we weight to the Spirit, by prayer and obedient living, we draw ourselves upward away from death. Jesus said "Pray that you enter not into temptation, for the flesh is weak but the Spirit willing". That verse is loaded, as we pray, make God our focus, we will not sin as much. If we ignore God, the weak flesh will dominate us.

Then we need to look at how God judges in the end. He says of the last days,

2Th 2:9-12 The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Note that God Himself sends people Strong Delusion, that they will not believe the truth, and why, the scripture is clear, they had pleasure in unrighteousness, and sin.

Why is this important? Well yes a Christian is saved by Grace, not by what they do or do not do. But in reality we are not saved 100% by Grace, we are saved by our connection to Christ, our love for the truth. If we love sin more than God, Jesus may spit us out of his mouth.

Rev 3:15-16 “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

Sorry, my friend. This sounds like a double message to me (as many others teach).

Hand #1. - On the one hand you say that we are not 100% saved by grace, if we love sin more than God Jesus will spit us out of his mouth.

Hand #2. - Yet, on the other hand you say that we are not saved by what they do or do not do.

This is a contradiction.

If a person loves their sin, they will seek to justify it and say they are not saved by anything they do. If a person loves Jesus (GOD), they will keep His commandments (John 14:15). For if we are to abide in His love, we have to keep His commandments (John 15:10). Abiding in God's love is not a one time event. We have to continue in his love (John 15:9).

we need to be spotless to come before God and in order to do this we need forgiveness but the goal is not forgiveness it's the coming to God part. I don't think grace cares what sins stand in the way so long as we are inline with the goal.

No. You are not saying what the Bible says. 2 Corinthians 7:10 says Godly sorrow leads to repentance (Which obviously involves forgiveness).

Jesus essentially says repent or we will perish (Luke 13;3).

Yes. Such as in spending time on message forums when they should be on their knees with an open bible.

So you think it is a sin to help others understand the Word of God by way of a forum?

It seems like you have side stepped the issue.
Also, imagine if you were on your knees the whole day with an open Bible. How can you then sin if you are doing that all the day long?

My concern for you is that you say Christians sin and then you changed the subject. You pointed out something that was not even a sin and then you pointed for us to do something righteous. I agree. We have to live holy. For Hebrews 12:14 says without holiness, no man shall see the Lord.

"And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." (John 5:29).

So if Christians sin (done evil), how will they end up in the resurrection of life by them having done good (when in reality they have also done evil)? Is there another resurrection for those who do both good and evil? Jesus does not seem to think so (See Matthew 7:23).

I would not agree that all sin is automatically forgiven. There is a requirement for repentance. I do not however believe that there is any sin that cannot be covered by the Blood of Jesus. Provided that you have faith in the grace of God and the works of Jesus. You seem to be asking the old question that Paul answered in Romans 6:1.
Yes Christians sin every day and
Jesus always forgives us each and every time.

Not true. A belief alone in Jesus will not save a person. Sin can destroy a person's soul. Sin can mean there is no eternal life abiding in them.

Proverbs 6:32 says,
"But whosoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: he that does it destroys his own soul."

1 John 3:15 says,
"Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him."

We have to confess and forsake sin to have mercy (See 1 John 1:9, 1 John 1:7, Proverbs 28:13, Matthew 12:41 cf. with Jonah 3:6-10).

However that doesn't give
us an excuse to purposely sin,as we should be holy as Jesus is.

There would be no purpose or reason (or true motivation) to live holy if a person's future sins were forgiven. If such were the case, we can just believe in Jesus and be saved while in our sin. But that is not what the Bible teaches. Hebrews 12:14 says that without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. A person cannot live holy if they are telling others that they can sin and still be saved. Jesus agreed with the lawyer that to love GOD and to love your neighbor was a part of inheriting everlasting life. Jesus said, do this and you will live (See Luke 10:25-28). Loving God and loving our neighbor is not in our own way, but it is how the Bible defines it. There are certain sub commands that show how we are to love God and to love our neighbor. Jesus says we are to do these things as a part of inheriting everlasting life. He says, do this and you will live. He does not say, just believe on me and my sacrifice alone and you will live (with holiness be a nice option).

I really should not have to tell you this (because it is so basic), but forgiveness with GOD leads to a right relationship with GOD.

For example: If a man cheats on his wife, he would seek forgiveness with her in order to restore the relationship. It is no different with GOD. You want there to be a man who does not say he is sorry or who does not reconcile in some way with his wife over his cheating on her and yet you want there to be a normal relationship to follow. Sorry, life does not work like that, my friend. Maybe in happy OSAS candy land it works that way, but not in the real world.

Oh, and the man has to stop cheating on his wife, too. For if he just kept saying he was sorry and then went right back out and continued to cheat on her, he is not really sorry, but he is merely paying lip service. GOD told the Pharisees that they honored him with their lips, but their hearts were far from Him.

Forgiveness is where it starts with GOD.

If you think salvation depends upon being sinless or never forgetting to confess sin, you are mistaken. Salvation depends on relationship with God. This starts with repentance and forgiveness. But it must be maintained. One sin won’t kill it. But neglect it enough and what was there is gone. He will do his part. We must do ours.

That is not true according to the Bible.

Now, not that we are under the Old Law as a whole (contractually speaking), there are truths and commands in the Old that still remain true under the New Covenant (For the law is good if one uses it lawfully - 1 Timothy 1:8).

In the OT: We learn from the Law that a person who committed adultery once was still considered an adulterer according to the Old Law (Leviticus 20:10).

It only took one act of murder to be considered a murderer (See Numbers 35:16-18).

Proverbs 6:32 says,
"But whosoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: he that does it destroys his own soul."

1 John 3:15 says,
"Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him."

Please take note that it says NO murderer has eternal life abiding in him. This would be the murderer who just murdered one time because it says... NO murderer (Meaning any murderer of any kind).

Revelation 21:8 says all liars will have their part in the Lake of Fire. I see no exception made here where it says there is another group of liars who will not be cast into the Lake of Fire. Only those who repent and forsake sin will be forgiven (See 1 John 1:9, 1 John 1:7, Proverbs 28:13, Matthew 12:41 cf. with Jonah 3:6-10). One grievous sin is enough to keep a believer out of God's Kingdom unless they repent (i.e. seek forgiveness with GOD). Ananais and Sapphira lied (one sin) to the Holy Ghost and they were instantly judged by being killed. A great fear came upon the church and all who heard it. If they were saved, it makes no sense for the church to be afraid. They would be either sad or happy if they were saved. Also, Peter tells Simon to repent of his wickedness in his one sin of trying to pay for the Spirit in the hopes that God would forgive him by way of prayer (See Acts of the Apostles 8:22). So no. One sin can keep a person out of God's Kingdom. What do you think happened in the Garden of Eden? It only took one sin to separate mankind from GOD (Which was by Adam's one time sin). Do not buy into the lie the devil sold to Eve. He told her that she would not die if she disobeyed God (and that was just one sin).

In Scripture we see that there were no provisions made for the man that had sinned presumptuously (Numbers 15:22-31).

Presumptuous sins are NOT sins of ignorance. They are willful sin - sins unto death. I'm not sure why you are misunderstanding and misconstruing what I am saying.

Have any of us ever remembered every single time we were guilty of those?

Some people think you can commit these sins and still be saved by just having a belief on Jesus. Or that it is okay to do these sins once as long as you do not do them habitually. But that is not what the Bible teaches.

I am not saying they are. I am saying that there was no atonement for presumptuous sins in the OT Law. That does not mean that there were not exceptions like with King David.

Of course Christians sin. No human being is perfect. Which is why Jesus Christ gave His Church the Sacrament of Confession.

So you think Christians sin. What sins do you think they commit commonly that you think are covered by the blood by their just having a belief on Jesus alone?

What sins are not covered?

Also, Jesus is the only priest we have to confess our sins to.
Jesus is the only way to the Father.

What can man do unto me? Fear not man, only God.

We are to fear GOD by keeping His commandments and to depart from evil. Justifying even one grievous sin can cause a loss of salvation. See Proverbs 6:32 and 1 John 3:15.

I know there was not, and don't understand why you don't know I know from what I wrote for you to be challenging me. However, the blood of Jesus DOES attone for all sins committed prior to us receiving Jesus' gift of the Holy Spirit. Then the Spirit prevents us from committing willful/presumptuous sins. But even someone walking in the light must be committing some kind of sins that the blood of Jesus continually cleanses. If you are walking in the Spirit, what could they be? The Spirit will not allow you to commit adultery, in ignorance even - which is impossible. The Spirit fulfills the righteous requirements of the law. So what type of sin is committed unwittingly? Trespasses. Leviticus 5:15.

1 John 1:7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

As for King David, there was a death - his child.

Aliens pushed in movies are also a part of the deception.
Aliens are actually demons. There is no such thing as aliens.
It is not a coincidence that people smell brimstone sometimes when they encounter both aliens and ghosts. It is not a coincidence that aliens have been cast out in the name of Jesus. It is not a coincidence that the Bible alludes to owls sometimes as demons and we see a movie promoting the connection between aliens involving the encounter of owls (Note: See the movie trailer for the movie called the "Fourth Kind"; Important Note: I am not encouraging you to watch this film because it is evil. I merely want to show to you that aliens are a part of the deception by the enemy).

Also, you are saying it is a trap, but you are not saying how it is a trap with Scripture.

Anyways, getting back on topic:

Ecclesiastes 12:13 says,
"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."

"...if you wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." (Matthew 19:17).

Note: In context: Jesus referred to the Moral Law like: Do not murder, do not covet, do not steal, etc. Also, Jesus agrees with the truth that loving God and loving our neighbor is a part of inheriting eternal life.

25 "And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tested him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how read you?
27 And he answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.
28 And he said unto him, You have answered right: this do, and you shall live." (Luke 10:25-28).

This do.... and you shall live.
Do what?
Love God and love your neighbor.
This is a part of inheriting eternal life.

In fact, at the close end of your very Bible, it says this:

14 "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie." (Revelation 22:14-15).

John 3:20 says all who do evil hate the light. This is because John 3:19 says, "and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

It's why many are seeking to justify sin these days by saying they can sin and still be saved by having a belief on Jesus (When that is not what the Bible even remotely teaches). It does not matter if you are justifying one grievous sin with the thinking you are saved vs. many grievous sins with the thinking you are saved. GOD cannot agree with grievous sin that He condemns within His own Word. GOD is holy and righteous and good. Scripture says: "...we have the mind of Christ (GOD)" (See 1 Corinthians 2:16). If Jesus never justified sin, then neither should we.

My point here is that if a person commits a lie and does not know they lied right away, they are not automatically forgiven because they lied in ignorance. God can bring this lie up to them later and convict them of it, but that does not mean they are forgiven of this lie until they actually repent or confess of their sin of lying.

What exactly do you think sins of ignorance are?

What kinds of sins would this be?

1 John 1:7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Will we ever be able to eliminate all sin in our lives? I say no. That’s why we are covered by Christ’s sacrifice. If we could truly become sinless we really wouldn’t need it. If one thinks salvation is in jeopardy every time we wake up because of possible sin that will only be forgiven if they confess and repent immediately, it makes me wonder if they are counting on Christ’s blood or their own goodness.

The Bible disagrees with you. A belief alone on Jesus is not enough to save a person. A person must have "works of faith" to prove that their "faith" in Christ is true or genuine.

After we are saved by God's grace,
God’s works (done through us) are also required as a part of the Salvation Process:

(Here are a List of Verses):

“Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only." (James 2:24).

"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.” (James 2:17-18).

"They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." (Titus 1:16).

"If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, "(1 Timothy 6:3-4).

"...God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." (James 4:6).

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? (Romans 6:1-2).

"And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him." (Hebrews 5:9).

"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14).

“...God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth” (2 Thessalonians 2:13).

“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” (Romans 8:13).

"If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha." (1 Corinthians 16:22).

"If ye love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15).

“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.” (John 15:10).

"And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me." (Matthew 10:38).

”If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Matthew 16:24-26).

"...No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62).

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8).

"Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls." (James 1:21).

"But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God." (Romans 2:8-11).

”And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.” (Revelation 22:12-15).

"For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved." (John 3:20).

“For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.” (Romans 11:21-22).

"...but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." (Matthew 19:17).

“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12).

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;” (Titus 2:11-12).

“...And having become servants of God, ye have your fruit unto holiness and the end, everlasting life.” (Romans 6:22).

”Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” (Matthew 25:34-40).

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” (Matthew 25:41-46).

”His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:21).

”And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 25:30).

”Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation [i.e. as the people of Israel did when they rebelled against him in the desert.”] (Hebrews 3:12-15) (Note: The explanation on verse 15 in brackets is taken from the Living Bible Translation (TLB)).

”Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)” (Hebrews 3:10-11).

”Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. (Hebrews 4:11).

“In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” (1 John 3:10).

“He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God” (John 8:47).

The Bible teaches that we can overcome grievous sin.

See 1 Corinthians 10:13, Matthew 26:41, Matthew 6:13, Galatians 5:24, Romans 13:14, 1 Peter 4:1-2, 2 Corinthians 7:1, Galatians 5:16, etc.

The Bible teaches that just one grievous sin can separate a believer from GOD. Adam and Eve were separated spiritually from GOD by Adam's one time sin. Ananais and Sapphira died instantly when they lied to the Holy Ghost. They were not saved because a great fear came upon the church. Believers do not experience fear if they know their friends are saved. Peter told Simon to repent of his one sin of trying to pay for the Holy Ghost. He told him to pray that God may forgive him. For if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
