Sabbath was made for man which is what he was showing, it was only by tradition that people came to think you could do no good on the Sabbath day(that man was made for the Sabbath). That is to say you could not do the Lord's work, or in this case feed yourself when hungry/starving. But as was shown there was precedent to be blameless for these things. The part where he said they were guiltless.Yes. I am familiar with the passage.
I suppose you think I am picking verses out of context with no knowledge of their whole-passage meaning.
- The Pharisees caught Jesus disciples violating the Sabbath. This qualifies as "any instance of the Apostles breaking the Sabbath day", therefore I win. (hooray)
- Jesus explains by citing another unlawful act which implicates himself. (David and his companions)
- In a synoptic passage he also uses the example of the priests desecrating the Sabbath with their work.
- Then Jesus gives an insight that a Sabbatarian would never teach. Man was not made for the Sabbath.
Now if Christ had broken the Law(and was not guiltless as he said and we are told) then he is not the messiah.
So do you believe he broke the law? Or was he guiltless as he said?
6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
