There appears to be a controversy concerning the Olivet Discourse and the Gospel of Luke 21 being different.
Here are just a few links concerning the Mount of Olives discourse, where some say that because Luke 21 doesn't mention the the MoO, that it is different than Matt 24/Mark 13, and concerns the destruction in 70ad whereas Matthew and Mark are future.

The Temple Discourse in Luke 21 (not the Olivet Discourse)

It is obvious that Luke wanted to focus on the theme of Jerusalem’s future destruction by highlighting this little clip in Jesus’ sorrows. Luke’s presentation of the answer to the question of the destruction of the temple further clarifies what Jesus was weeping about as He beheld Jerusalem.
The second difference (which actually comes first) is that there is no mention of the discourse beginning on the Mount of Olives in Luke.
Matthew 24-25 and Mark 13 both contain a discourse which occurs on the Mount of Olives, hence the name, the Olivet Discourse. Luke 21, while containing some of the same aspects, is significantly different from Matthew and Mark.
The "PAROUSIA" in Matthew 24
There you go. That means Matthew 24 is not the same thing as Luke 21. Luke 21 was inside the Temple in the morning. Jesus was sitting down inside a place called the "women's" court. He had to "look up' to see the poor old widow put money in the treasury which was located around the outside perimeter of that court.....................
Let's take a look at those 3 Chapters of the Gospels and see how much they differ:

Matthew and Mark both mention "buildings" #3619.
These 3 verses in Matt and Mark are the only place in the entire Gospels #3619 is used.

All 3 mention the 70ad Temple, and "..stone upon stone being thrown.." down......

Matthew 24:
1 And Jesus coming out, departed from the Temple.
And His Disciples approached Him to show to Him the buildings of the Temple.
2 And Jesus said to them, “ are ye not seeing all these?
Amen I am saying to ye, not no may be being left here stone upon stone, which not shall be being thrown-down<2647>.

Mark mention the "manner of stones"

Mark 13:1
And He going forth out of the Temple, one of His Disciples is saying to Him
“Teacher! behold! what manner of stones and what manner of buildings
2 And Jesus answering said to him, “thou are beholding these, the great buildings.
Not no may be being left here stone upon stone which not no may be being thrown-down<2647>

Luke describes the manner of stones:

Luke 21:
5 and of some saying concerning the Temple, that to goodly stones and votive-offerings<334> it has been adorned
6 “These which ye are beholding?
Shall be coming days in which not shall be being left stone upon stone here which not shall be being thrown-down<2647>

Luke 19's discourse on 70ad Jerusalem goes into greater detail concerning it's future destruction

The Greek word <2050> used in Luke 21:20 occurs in only 3 verses of the NT:
Matthew 24:15, Mark 13:14 and Luke 21:20, thus tying these 3 chapters together:

Strong's Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon
2050. eremosis er-ay'-mo-sis from 2049;
despoliation:--desolation.
Strong's Number G2050 matches the Greek ἐρήμωσις (erēmōsis), which occurs 3 times in 3 verses

Luke 21:20
Whenever yet may be seeing Jerusalem surrounded by armies,
then be knowing that is nigh the desolating<2050> of Her

Luke 19:
41 And as He nears, beholding the City, and He laments on Her,
42 saying, "That if Thou knew and Thou, even indeed in the day, this, the toward peace of Thee,
now yet it was hid from Thy eyes.
43 That shall be arriving days upon Thee,
and Thy enemies shall be casting up a rampart/siege-work to Thee
and shall be encompassing Thee,
and pressing Thee every which place.
44 And shall be leveling Thee and Thy offspring in Thee,
and not shall be leaving stone upon stone in Thee,
stead which not Thou knew the time of the visitation of Thee".

Luke's Gospel also appears to harmonize more with Revelation and Matthew than Mark does.

Strong's Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon
2050. eremosis er-ay'-mo-sis from 2049;
despoliation:--desolation.

2050. eremosis er-ay'-mo-sis from 2049;

2049.
eremoo er-ay-mo'-o from 2048; to lay waste (literally or figuratively):--(bring to, make) desolate(-ion), come to nought.
Strong's Number G2049 matches the Greek ἐρημόω (erēmoō), which occurs 5 times in 5 verses
[2 times in Gospels: Matthew 12:25 and Luke 11:17. The other 3 times in Revelation]

Revelation 18:19
and they did cast dust upon their heads, and were crying out, weeping and sorrowing, saying, Woe, woe, the great City! in which were made rich all having ships in the sea, out of her costliness --
for in one hour was She made waste<2049>.

All 3 passages ask the same 2 questions:

when
? shall these be,

and what? the sign

The "PAROUSIA" in Matthew 24

Matthew uses the greek word "parousia"<4592> and is used only in this chapter of the Gospels [4times]. The exact form of that word in vs 3 is used in 6 verses:

parousiaV <3952>
: Matthew 24:3;
Philippians 1:26; 2 Thessalonians 2:1, 8; James 5:7; 2 Peter 3:4

3952.
parousia par-oo-see'-ah from the present participle of 3918;
a being near, i.e. advent (often, return; specially, of Christ to punish Jerusalem, or finally the wicked); (by implication) physically, aspect:--coming, presence........
3844. para par-ah' a primary preposition; properly, near; i.e. (with genitive case) from beside (literally or figuratively), (with dative case) at (or in) the vicinity of (objectively or subjectively)
3776. ousia oo-see'-ah from the feminine of 5607; substance, i.e. property (possessions):--goods, substance.

Mount of Olives is not shown in Luke 21.
Matthew uses the word #4930.

Matthew 24:3
Yet of Him sitting on the Mount of the Olives, the Disciples came toward to Him according to own saying "be telling! to us,
when? shall these be,
and what? the sign<4592>
of the Thy parousia<3952>,
and together-finish<4930> of the age.

In Mark 13, it shows only Peter, James, John and Andrew coming to ask Him questions:

Mark 13
3 and of sitting of Him into the Mount of the Olives facing the Temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew inquired<1905> of Him privately
4 Tell us!
when? shall these be
and what? the sign<4592>
whenever may be being about<3195> these.

Luke 21
7 Yet they inquire<1905> of Him, saying, “Teacher!
when? then shall these be
And what? the sign<4592>
whenever may be being about<3195> these to becoming<1096>?

The Mount of Olives seems to appear in only 1 verse of the OT?

Zechariah 14:4
And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south.

All 3 Gospel accounts agree.
Matt uses "I am the Christ", while Mark and Luke use "I am He"

Matthew 24:
4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.
5 “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.”

Mark 13:
5 And Jesus, answering them, began to say: “Take heed that no one deceives you.
6 “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and will deceive many.”

Luke adds "the time has drawn near"........

Luke 21:
8 – And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived.
For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’
and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore do not go after them.”

4105. planao plan-ah'-o from 4106;
to (properly, cause to) roam (from safety, truth, or virtue):--go astray, deceive, err, seduce, wander, be out of the way.

#4105 used 8 times in Revelation, 1 of those in association with the great City:

Revelation 18:23
“The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore.
For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived<4105>.

Jeremiah 7:34 And I cause to cease from cities of Y@huwda, and from streets of Y@ruwshalaim voice of elation and voice of rejoicing, voice of bridegroom, and voice of bride, that to desolation the Land shall become.

The only difference with these verses if that Luke uses the greek word for "tumults" instead of tumults.
However, all 3 uses the same exact form of the first <4171> in this verse
and in fact, these are the only 3 verses in the NT that uses this exact same form of it.

πολέμους<4171>

Matthew 24:6
“And you will hear of battles<4171> and tidings of battles<4171>.
See that you are not troubled;
for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Mark 1:7
“But when you hear of battles<4171> and tidings of battles<4171>,
do not be troubled;
for such things must happen, but the end is not yet.

Luke 21:9
“But when you hear of battles<4171> and commotions/tulmuts<181>,
do not be terrified;
for these things must come to pass first, but the end is not immediate.”

Used 9 times in Revelation

Revelation 16:14
for they are spirits of demons, doing signs -- which go forth unto the kings of the land, and of the whole being-homed<3625>, to gather them together to the battle<4171> of that great day of God the Almighty; --
Revelation 20:8
and he shall go forth to lead the nations astray, that are in the four corners of the land -- the Gog and the Magog --
to gather them together to battle<4171>, of whom the number is as the sand of the sea;

This is interesting.
The exact form of the greek word #4171used in the above 2 verses are also used in Luke 14:31

Luke 14:31 [Revelation 16:14]
'Or what king going on to engage with another king in battle<4171> doth not, having sat down, first consult if he be able with ten thousand to meet him who with twenty thousand is coming against him?

Matthew 24:7:
“For nation<1484> will rise against nation, and kingdom<932> against kingdom..........

Luke 21:10
Then He said to them, “nation<1484> will rise against nation, and kingdom<932> against kingdom.

The same exact form of #1484 used in those 3 verses is used 2 times in Revelation:

Revelation 13:7
and there was given to it to make war with the saints, and to overcome them,
and there was given to it authority over every tribe, and tongue, and nation<1484>.

Revelation 14:6
And I saw another messenger flying in mid-heaven, having good news age-during to proclaim to those dwelling upon the earth, and to every nation<1484>, and tribe, and tongue, and people,

The exact same form of #932 used in those 3 verses is used 4 times in Revelation

Revelation 1:9

'The *kingdom<932> of the world became those of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign to the ages of the ages!'

Revelation 12:10
Then I heard a loud voice saying in the heaven,
“Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom<932> of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

Revelation 16:10

All 3 mention earthquakes and famines.
Luke has "great earthquakes"
Matthew and Luke have "pestilences"
Mark has "troubles"
Only Matt and Mar have "travails"

5604. odin akin to 3601;
a pang or throe, especially of childbirth:--pain, sorrow, travail.

Matthew 24:
7 ...............And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
8 “All these are the beginning of travails<5604>.”

Mark 13:8
..............And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles.
These are the beginnings of travails<5604>.”

Luke 21:11
“And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences;

"earthquakes".

All 3 verses use the same exact form of the Greek word #4578

4578. seismosfrom 4579;
a commotion, i.e. (of the air) a gale, (of the ground) an earthquake:--earthquake, tempest.
Strong's Number G4578 matches the Greek σεισμός (seismos), which occurs 14 times in 12 verses

The other 9 verses #4578 is used in are:
Matthew 8:24, Matthew 27:54. Matthew 28:2
Acts 16:26
and 5 verses in Revelation.

I find these 2 verses rather fascinating.
Both use "great earthquake" that is used in Luke 21:11:
In Acts, it is while Paul and Silas are in prison.

Matthew 28:2
and behold! there came a great earthquake, for a Messenger of the Lord, having come down out of heaven,
having come, did roll away the stone from the door, and was sitting upon it,

Acts 16:
26 and suddenly a great earthquake came, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken, opened also presently were all the doors, and of all -- the bands were loosed;

27 and the jailor having come out of sleep, and having seen the doors of the prison open, having drawn a sword, was about to kill himself, supposing the prisoners to be fled,

Last time used "great earthquake" is used in NT:

Revelation 16:18
and there came voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and a great earthquake came, such as came not since men came upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake -- so great!

Used 1 time in OT:

Ezekiel 38:19
“For in My jealousy and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken:
‘Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel,

There are a few variances here between the KJV and NASB.
All 3 versions agree on "famines and eathquakes.

Matthew 24:7
New American Standard Bible
"For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.
King James Bible
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences<3061>, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Mark 13:8
New American Standard Bible
"For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines . These things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.
King James Bible
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

Luke 21:11
New American Standard Bible
and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.
King James Bible
And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences<3061>; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

3042. limos probably from 3007
(through the idea of destitution); a scarcity of food:--dearth, famine, hunger.
Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
Strong's Number G3042 matches the Greek λιμός (limos), which occurs 12 times in 12 verses

Used 2 times in Revelation

Revelation 6:8
So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him.
And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with famine, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.
Revelation 18:8
because of this, in one day, shall come her stripes/blows, death, and sorrow, and famine;
and in fire she shall be utterly burned,
because strong is the Lord God who is judging her

G (NKJV)

Jeremiah 15:2
“And it shall be, if they say to you, ‘Where should we go?' then you shall tell them, ‘Thus says the LORD:
“Such as are for death, to death;
And such as are for the sword, to the sword;
And such as are for the famine, to the famine;
And such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.” '

Ezekiel 14:21
For thus says the Lord GOD: “How much more it shall be when I send My four severe judgments on Jerusalemthe sword and famine and wild beasts and pestilence—to cut off man and beast from it?

Another link between Luke 21, Revelation and OT Prophecies

Luke 21:24
And they shall be falling to mouth of a sword and they shall be being led captive into all the nations.
And Jerusalem shall be being trodden by nations until which may be being filled times of nations.

Now look at Revelation 13:10

Revelation 13:10
If any to-captivity into captivity is going away.
If any in sword to be killed, is binding him in sword to be killed.
Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

Jeremiah 15:2
“And it shall be, if they say to you, ‘Where should we go?' then you shall tell them, ‘Thus says the LORD:
“Such as are for death, to death;
And such as are for the sword, to the sword;
And such as are for the famine, to the famine;
And such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.” '

There appears to be a controversy concerning the Olivet Discourse and the Gospel of Luke 21 being different.
Here are just a few links concerning the Mount of Olives discourse, where some say that because Luke 21 doesn't mention the the MoO, that it is different than Matt 24/Mark 13, and concerns the destruction in 70ad whereas Matthew and Mark are future.

The Temple Discourse in Luke 21 (not the Olivet Discourse)

The "PAROUSIA" in Matthew 24

Mark and Luke both mention the "manner of stones"

Luke 21:
5 and of some saying concerning the Temple, that to goodly stones and votive-offerings<334> it has been adorned
6 “These which ye are beholding?
Shall be coming days in which not shall be being left stone upon stone here which not shall be being thrown-down<2647>

So in one case, those who believe Luke 21 is about 70 AD agree that "this generation" means the one standing in front of Jesus, but in another case, they believe the "this generation" of Matthew and Mark is about a future 2000+ year generation? Doesn't really make much sense.....

I wonder if those who believe that the Olivet discourse from Luke is different from Matthew/Mark's, because of minor details, also believe that Jesus rose again from the grave multiple times? The details and series of events of Jesus' resurrection and meeting with mary and the disciples are also different between each gospel.

"minor details"
Yeah, it appears so.
That is what inspired me to delve deeper into the Olivet Discourse and harmonize it with Revelation using the greek.

Here are some harmonized "timing" verses:

1451. eggus eng-goos' from a primary verb agcho
(to squeeze or throttle; akin to the base of 43); near (literally or figuratively, of place or time):--
from , at hand, near, nigh (at hand, unto), ready.

Genesis 1:1 (YLT)
Strong's Number G1451 matches the Greek ἐγγύς (eggys),
which occurs 30 times in 30 verses

All three use #1451 "the time is nigh a hand"

Matthew, Mark and Luke use "fig tree" and "summer"
Matt and Mark use "the doors"
Luke uses "the kingdom of God" instead of "doors"
Literally "the kingdom of God is nigh at the doors"

Matthew 24:
32 - Now learn a parable of the fig tree;
When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves,
ye know that summer is nigh at hand<1451>
33 - So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things,
know that it is nigh at hand<1451>, even at the doors.

Mark 13:
28 - Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves,
ye know that summer is nigh at hand<1451>
29 - So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass,
know that it is nigh at hand<1451>, even at the doors.

Luke has "the kingdom of God" instead of "doors"

Luke 21:
29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 - When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand<1451>.
31 - So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass,
know that nigh at hand<1451> is the kingdom of God

#1451 is repeated twice in Revelation:

Revelation 1:3
Blessed/happy is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein:
for the time is nigh at hand<1451>

Revelation 22:10
And he saith to me, 'Thou mayest not seal the words of the prophecy of this scroll,
for the time is nigh at hand<1451>;

There is also this form of #1451.

1448. eggizo eng-id'-zo from 1451;
to make near, i.e. (reflexively) approach:--approach, be at hand, come (draw) near, be (come, draw) nigh.

Only Luke 21 of the Olivet Discourse uses #1448 [a derivitive of #1451]

Luke 21:
8 - And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying,
'I am Christ; and the time draweth near<1448>' go ye not therefore after them.
20 - And when ye shall see Jerusalem encompassed by armies,
then know that the desolation of Her thereof is drawn near<1448>.
28 - And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads;
for your redemption draweth near.<1448>

It is used in these epistles concerning the end/parousia being near:

Romans 13:12
the night did advance, and the day coming near<1448>;
let us lay aside, therefore, the works of the darkness, and let us put on the armour of the light;

James uses the word "parousia", which is only used in Matt 24 of the Gospels

James 5:8
be patient, ye also; establish your hearts,
because the parousia of the Lord hath drawn near<1448>;
.
1 Peter 4:7
And of all things the end hath drawn near<1448>;
be sober-minded! then and watch! unto the prayers,

Hebrews 10:25
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as a custom of certain is, but exhorting,

and so much the more as ye see the day coming near<1448>

james 5:9 Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing (2476) at the door (2374)!

2476 "standing" = perfect indicative active
2374 "door"

Mattew 24:33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very doors (2374)

2374 "door"

James must have been seeing the signs of the olivet discourse for him to write the Judge "is standing" at the door.

Good post and thanks.

The word "knock" is used only in 9 verses [not used in Mark or John]
Matthew 7:7-8, Luke[4] Luke 11:9-10, 12:36, 13:14 Acts[2] and Revelation[1]

Matthew 7:
7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened unto you.
8 For everyone asking receives; and the one seeking finds; and to the one knocking, it will be opened.

Only Luke 11:9 and Acts 12:13 and Revelation 3:20 mention both "knock and doors"

Luke 11
9 So I tell you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
10For everyone asking receives; and the one seeking finds; and to the one knocking, it will be opened.

Revelation 3:
8 I have known thy works; lo, I have set before thee a door -- opened, and no one is able to shut it, because thou hast a little power, and didst keep my word, and didst not deny my name;
20 Behold! I have stood at the doo, and I knock; if any one may hear my voice, and may open the door,
I will come in unto him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Let's take a look at those 3 Chapters of the Gospels and see how much they differ:

Matthew and Mark both mention "buildings" #3619.
These 3 verses in Matt and Mark are the only place in the entire Gospels #3619 is used.

All 3 mention the 70ad Temple, and "..stone upon stone being thrown.." down......

Matthew 24:
1 And Jesus coming out, departed from the Temple.
And His Disciples approached Him to show to Him the buildings of the Temple.
2 And Jesus said to them, “ are ye not seeing all these?
Amen I am saying to ye, not no may be being left here stone upon stone, which not shall be being thrown-down<2647>.”

Mark and Luke both mention the "manner of stones"

Luke 21:
5 and of some saying concerning the Temple, that to goodly stones and votive-offerings<334> it has been adorned
6 “These which ye are beholding?
Shall be coming days in which not shall be being left stone upon stone here which not shall be being thrown-down<2647>
