Psalm 146 - Surprise? The work of the God of Jacob is the same as the job description of the Messiah

The first of the final five praise psalms in the book of Psalms lists the praiseworthy works of the God of Jacob... but they are the same as the works of the messiah listed in Isaiah 61 and Luke 4. And although opening blind eyes is listed as one of the praiseworthy works of the God of Jacob, no one healed a blind person until Jesus.

It seems the work is the same. Freedom from the oppression of sin and eyes opened to what values most and hearts that treasure God.

Jesus carries the work of the God of Jacob and his deliverance to the ends of the earth in a new and deep way, changed hearts and better treasures.

Jesus also was the 1st to heal a leper that was Jewish and sent them to the priest to perform the offering prescribed for the leper in the day they were healed. The priests knew this law and in over 1500 years it had never had to be used. The ritual for cleaning the leper involves putting the blood of the sacrifice on your right ear lobe, right thumb and right big toe. This is also what they do when they initiate a Levite when they become a priest. The cleansing from sin makes us sanctified as priests unto the LORD. It is very cool picture of what the blood of Christ does for us.

Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, (Psalms 103:2-4, 1984 NIV)
