  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is the smile unique to humans?

Is the smile unique to humans?
A smile is a smile

When a wolf shows his teeth,.,./\,./\.,.,

.,.,.,..,.He means business

When we humans show our teeth it’s called a smile

Is the difference an evolutionary thing and once upon a time we smiled for the same reason wolves smile today-?

Humans are the only animals that show their teeth in friendship

Dada smile:

You can smile without showing any teeth.

I believe that is called a "grin"
grin
ɡrin/Submit
verb
1.
smile broadly, especially in an unrestrained manner and with the mouth open.
"Dennis appeared, grinning cheerfully"
synonyms: smile, smile broadly, beam, smile from ear to ear, grin like a Cheshire cat; More
noun
1.
a broad smile.

I still hold that only humans smile showing their teeth in a friendly way.
The question remains whether we once smiled in a treating way and evolved into the smile we have today?

No.
Remember also, in Proverbs I think,
a wolve will smile so nice to you, and give you a hug dripping with sweetness, then stab you in the back.
i.e. people are far worse than wolves, and almost always have been.

Is the difference an evolutionary thing and once upon a time we smiled for the same reason wolves smile today-?

oops.... Yahweh says clearly He made man in His Own Image,,,,

not like an animal at all - that is a humanistic (opposed to Jesus and contrary to God's Word) statement.

Humans are the only animals that show their teeth in friendship

Ever seen a lawyer, a plumber, a car salesman, a prostitute, a social service/government worker , a robber holding a gun on you (the least harmful perhaps),
SMILE AT YOU ?
If you do,
might be good to RUN FAST ! (if you can)
Deceitfulness is still one of the main uses of a smile and characteristic of men and women, as it has been for thousands of years...
The question remains whether we once smiled in a treating way and evolved into the smile we have today?

Wolves and dogs are social animals, the reason they smile is free to be the same as ours.

And your evidence to prove chimps smile too is this---

(that's the link to a differn't article)

You could have actually read the article I posted or spent all of thirty seconds to go to google and type in "chimp smile", but you go with ignorance.

This is what it looks like actually:

I went back and yes the chimp was smiling. This destroys my theory that only humans show their teeth in friendship.

Damn, I started this same topic on other forums and now I have to go back and correct my error.

Don't feel too bad, it happens to us all.
