The FBI is in possession of a recording between President Donald Trump and his former personal attorney Michael Cohen in which the two men prior to the election discuss a payment to a former Playboy model who has alleged an affair with Trump, Rudy Giuliani and a source familiar with the matter told CNN Friday.

Cohen has other recordings of the President in his records that were seized by the FBI, said both a source with knowledge of Cohen's tapes and Giuliani, who described the other recordings as mundane discussions. Another source with knowledge of the tape, however, said the conversation is not as Giuliani described and is not good for the President, though the source would not elaborate.

If campaign finance laws were violated it could be trouble but just using a shell company to hide payments for an affair probably isn't.

Well then maybe you can tell me why anyone cares, and Im serious. The way I get this these agreements are fairly common. Someone has even said it's a felony if it effects an election but I really don't get why a porn star and a centerfold story or even these agreements matter to anyony, especially Mueller. Why is Cohen getting jacked up over this?

I think the excitment is partly because it's scandalous, proving once and for all that Trump does engage in this type of behavior (having affairs and paying off mistresses).
Then there's a lot of excitment over what else there might be, what's on the rest of the tape, or if Trump made any of these payments in a way that would violate campaign finance laws.

I'm still confused, I agree with everything you said. I'm wondering what's the problem because the issue should be that the terms of the agreement, two actually, were broken. But the lawyer involved is being dragged through this investigation so if any laws were violated, what are they?
