back from Disneyworld. Bum trip. Cast members acted like disney had mandated that noone help anyone alone in a wheelchair. I mean, even the reservations I made for one in a wheelchair was met with "just find a place to eat"..... and 4x a cast member, instead of helping, asked me where MY assistant was! :C

But I used it to familiarize the dog on a few things: boat rides, and metal stadium seating. Couldn't take him UP the seating, but to get him to walk in front of me along the seats only took 3 tries (behind, beside, in front of me!) :) I had hoped to take the train about the MK but no service dogs allowed ... just like churches :C

I still wonder about your back and if you need any pointers or ideas on that.

after a year and a half since the new hip, I tried to do a chasse a few times and was shocked that I could. Its just a simple step-together-step, like as if you were pretending to gallop like a horse in grade school.

I'm still having a lot of back problems, but I have done some things that help. One of the best things is a pain management center I go to and get shots in my back about every 4 months. I also do a lot of stretching type exercises that helps a lot. Surgery is not an option, at least for now. Some of the things I could try could actually make it worse. It could be and has been much worse, so I give thanks. Maybe I could say that I've made some slow progress. I'm happy to hear that you are doing so well.

@nChrist I'm sorry to hear it still bothers you, but happy that there are some things that do provide relief. Are you getting prednisone shots?

Stretches are always good to do.

Have you tried just walking in the pool? Walking right, left, right, left, causes you to move your pelvis a little bit as you walk with each step. this loosens up your lower back!

Is there a warm water therapy pool you could do water walking?

Walking forwards, as well as sideways is very helpful...

Floating on your back and being weightless is a tremendous relief, then pull your knees up to your chest in that position....

with your docs approval of course:heart:

I really don't know what's in those shots. I just know that they sedate me first and give me one huge shot on each side of my lower spine. I think they have several ingredients, but no narcotics. I usually get pretty good relief for 3 to 4 months.

I'm going to try some things in the water soon and see what happens. I'm also adding to my stretching exercises.

Things appear to be pretty slow right now in Golden Eagles, and I was wondering where everyone is. I know that it's summer vacation time and the kids are out of school in most places.

I'm here and checking in from Central Oklahoma, USA. We live in a suburb of Oklahoma City called Edmond.

I hope that you're having a great summer. It might not be summer in your part of the world, so have a happy whatever time of the year it is.
I,m new but am happy to intro myself and offer my friendship!

I'm glad that you're able to do that, kat1. Praise God that you are recovering. :)

I'm sorry you had such a difficult time, drjean. :( I thought Disneyworld had a good reputation for customer service.

I'm still having a lot of back problems, but I have done some things that help.
Continued prayers for your back, Tom. :prayer:

Disney actually contacted me! I have been in email communication regarding "all" that was not a magical experience (cough cough). Given them some tips too... and while they did not say it, it seemed they realized my point about young people/millennials in general do not have critical thinking skills (and how difficult it must be to try and train them for summer work!)

I had made note of at least one name, and complimented that one, 4 women in the trading post and another who tried to get the boy (sic) to bring the ride carrier for my wheelchair (he wouldn't)... but I was so stressed I can't recall the ride at all! I recall looking down and petting my service dog who was lying on the ride seat next to me... (I transferred)... and that's it. I know all the rides it was not...so I'm going to tell them the ONE I am not sure about lololol and see if they can fix that issue, they know what day and time already.

Sure wish they would offer a discount or pass or something for the mess, or for the feedback! :sigh:

I would have thought that a company of Disney's stature would make amends of some sort. I hope so.

The reason for my comment about customer service was that it featured in a Management Training video, back in the 80s, as an example of excellence.

Kinda new in the GE area (turned 50 in July), but have been posting on the weather thread for a while.
I work in construction so this is the very busy time of year for us.
The wife and I also have two huge gardens, raise Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, chickens and guineas.
Up here in the ice box, winter comes early and I will be unemployed for about 5 months and have ample time to fellowship, when I'm not cutting wood.
Looking forward to getting to know you all better!

A week has passed since the schools broke up for the summer in the UK. So I'm finally 'above radar' again on CF. :)

I had not appreciated just how stressed I've been these past 8 weeks and still feel so exhausted now that I'm not in school.

Hi, everyone :)

It was the school holidays over here too and we had our grandchildren with us for a week. Really enjoyed that and had fun with them. It felt very quiet when they went home again. :D
