  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

#walkaway is a movement, that is comprised of personal testimonies of individuals that have walked away from the democratic party; due to the hysterical reaction of the 2016 election of President Trump by the left, and the hypocrisy they saw in their own party. Take the time to see someones personal opinions and views on this matter before deciding everyone is a racist, sexist, bigot.

I don't doubt there's at least a few of these that are genuine. I just don't think this "movement" is really as big as Trumpers are hoping it to be.

Not at all. 100% honest before Christ, I am "hoping" you believe exactly what you posted. Nothing to see here... just sweep it under the rug, and were moving on.....

I have followed this movement on both FB and Twitter. I'm sure their ARE bot accounts chiming in, just like their are for any active hashtag. But if the Democrats think this is somehow Kremlin-directed and the people above are Russians (lol) then, well, let them think that--to their own peril. The truth is, people leaving groups that have had a grip on their "community" is exponential. You would think Democrats would be called to action rather than just knee-jerking to "Bots!" "Trolls!" "Russians!"

But they're not--which says a lot, really. So here we are.

I don't think everyone is a racist, sexist, bigot. But when I see
President Trump give a public statement supporting the Klu Klux Klan and Neo Nazis, I'm going to decide that he is a racist.

How much more evidence do you need before you make that decision?

What a strange post. What makes you think that Maxine Waters is my champion? Are you a mind reader?

From your post, you appear to be in support of President Trump's racist behaviour, so I expect you are a supporter of President Trump. That is correct, is it not? And from the tone of your post it appears you like to use Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, which makes sense considering what you are doing.

No offense but we don't really need to convince Canadians. We are convincing plenty of Americans, particularly Americans who are minority, gay, and other cherished "factions" of the Democrat Party. What they are saying is that they can't believe how un-racist and kind and accepting conservatives are. What they are saying is how---well---NOT nice their "communities" can be once they make the switch, in some instances. But this may change once more do so.

This gentlemen here aptly describes your point in his own terms. I think any of us that have dared to claim a Conservative approach have faced this within our own circles.

Can you find me a source on that? It's been nearly a year, and I still can't find where he did this. I do find the reciprocal of this (KKK endorsed Trump publicly), but I don't find your statement, as written, as being honest or factual. Happy for you to set me straight though. As a Christian, I must put truth above all else.

The Dems are going full bore socialist, and I think that is in opposition of core American values that even progressives hold dear. I support #walkaway

Any time a sizable contingency from a party starts to act out in ways that some folks could view as irrational, there are always going to be people who "#walkaway" from it.

Much like I, and many other people, walked away from the GOP in 2008 when 40% of them lost their minds and started to push wild conspiracy theories about the president they didn't like.

...and before that, the same existed when Bush was president and there were folks who bailed on the democrats when some of them started to lose their minds and suggest that Bush was an oil-hungry Nazi and a conspirator behind 9/11.

None of this is brand new and none of this is exclusive to "Democrats' reaction to Trump"...it's just the latest iteration of a pattern that's been happening for a few decades now.

You asked the other poster for a source...now I'll do the same for you.

Can you provide a citation that the Democrats are advocating the removal of private ownership over the means of production?

...because, at most, I heard a few (like Bernie) advocating the Nordic Model, but even they were within the ideological minority of the party. The rest of the claims of socialism (using that specific word) were from people who clearly didn't know what the term meant.

(Keeping in mind, expanding public safety nets and providing healthcare for citizens the same way police, roads, and fire departments are provided, and transitioning a few key industries over to the public sector isn't "socialism", despite what Fox pundits spew on a regular basis.)

I really like this guy. I watched this multiple times just because of the logic and down right common sense he speaks.

I liked him too, and he is well spoken.

Seeing you have watched many of these videos are there any that point out what the Republican party has done to solve a problem that the Dems. could have but didn't?

Sure.

Trump Defends White-Nationalist Protesters: 'Some Very Fine People on both sides'

President Trump said there are "some very fine people on both sides" after Charlottesville. IMO there were no "very fine people" among the marching, chanting KKK and Neo Nazis. Naturally the KKK and Neo Nazis loved the public support from the POTUS.

Trump goes off script, and white supremacists cheer - POLITICO

One group loved Trump's remarks about Charlottesville: White Supremacists

No worries. :)

I'm here because of some Evangelical Christian students and some of the their opinions. I'm not sure where they are coming from, so I thought it would be a good idea to do some research if you will, and see what other Evangelical Christians are saying. I'm definitely learning a lot that will help make me a better teacher for those students, so thanks to all for that.

Oh, I don't believe I have ever broad brushed any group on here, I leave that to others. You would be surprised how often people who love to use a broad brush are quick to accuse others of using this technique.

Well..."Evangelical Christian" is a pretty broad range but you probably already know that. I mean I hope you do, anyway. It ranges from me--I'm a conservative Christian (mostly) Reformed public school teacher--to homeschooling Pentecostal moms who don't wear pants, only dresses or skirts (and there's nothing wrong with that if that's your conviction!). Sometimes secular folks, not understanding, use that as a reason why "Christianity is wrong" or we "Can't all be right" or something.

Nope. :)

I wonder what Brandon Tatum would say if he knew he was being lied to about the Dixiecrats, of the Confederate states, being the same voters as the North Democrats, of the Union states. If it hadn't been for the Democrats in the northern states the Civil Rights Act of 1964 never would have passed. It's sad that people keep promoting this lie.
Below are the actual voting percentages broken down by geographical regions of southern states that had belonged to the confederacy and the northern states that had belonged to the Union.
After this vote Strom Thurmond, who voted against the Act, became a Republican. The Dixiecrats who had voted against the Act, also slowly became Republicans. Why because the votes in Congress told the real tale about who was for civil rights for minorities and who weren't.
