I always think the fossil "sequence" is a fatal blow to TE people. They can not answer a simple question: Why didn't the Salvation happen, say, in the Permian time, or in the Cretaceous time?

Now that's a horrendously bad question. Even if we take a theological view on it, since man didn't appear for millions of years afterwards, why would God feel the need to save animals?

Why do creationists keep repeating this particular lie? The synapsid to mammals lineage is complete showing how the middle ear formed from the jaw over millions of years . Creationists make a stink about them being different sizes but over millions of years we would get several different species and changes in size are relatively easy to evolve.

Creationists are unable to understand the science.

I don't think it's an inability, but a self-imposed mandate.

I mean, if Evolutionary Theory turns out to be proven to be just totally bass-ackwards wrong, I'll be surprised, confused, but excited because hey! New things to learn! But it won't collapse my sense of reality.

For some people, however, their worldview is constructed in such a way that if Evolutionary Theory is correct, then everything else falls apart. It means there is no God, no truth, no right, no wrong, everything collapses. The entire structure comes crashing down.

I'm not surprised they'll work very hard to keep that from happening.
