Greetings fellow travelers,

I would like to present two Commentaries released online last week and invite your feedback, debate and criticism. They are the product of thirty years work and I believe that they offer new insights into these important biblical books. On the "index" page you will find two "abstracts" that give a short summary of some important points but by no means plumb the depths of my presentation. There are also other separate studies that may be of interest (The Saying on the Cross- relevant to this time of Year).

Anyway, the commentaries are "Pattern Recognition in the Apocalypse" and "God is Judge" (on Daniel).

The website is: http//www.biblaridion.info

I look forward to hearing your comments and considering your views.

Hi,
The CSS is meant to automatically resize for different screens and I have tested it to make sure it is responsive. The chapters themselves can zoom to 150% or shrink to 75% and can be downloaded as PDF's. It should work on an iPad but it depends what model you have....if it is really (really) bad then perhaps of have not uploaded the style sheet.

That should read....perhaps I have not uploaded the style sheet (i.e. forgotten a sheet). What screen size do you have and what page did you look at? I will try to mimic it using the Firefox responsive tool or an online tool.

It’s a 12.7” screen, I just clicked on the link and then from the intro to the first page. The first page still had the same flicker as the intro, which I took to be some kind of flash graphic

Well the only similar one I can find online is the Apple iPad Pro 12.9" (inch) which is 2732px screen width which is pretty big. No flash used at all...it is all CSS transformations that are browser based but once you get off the front page to the Table of Contents etc you should have no prblems.

Sorry yeah 12.9, I think the actual screen space is 12.7 but maybe not. I’ll try it later on my PC in any case

Hi, The animation and the "intro" that shows after 15 sec delay are all the same page (the "intro" is hidden at first). The first page (animation+intro) contains some PDF downloads and should work properly.....I would be concerned if it did not. It was tested in different browsers etc. Once you click on other pages you should have no problem at all.

May I suggest to any readers that they begin with the "abstracts" on the home page. These are two PDF downloads (9 pages Apocalypse 4 pages Daniel) they will give a bit of an "overview" as the Apocalypse commentary is about 700 pages and Daniel about 560 pages.

I am enjoying your analysis. I also see revelation encompassing all of salvation history. Your analysis is educational for me. I have read perhaps half or more of the main body of text. I was looking for the pattern of 5 have gone one is here now and one is yet to come in the Samaritan woman's husbands. This pattern in the womans life is paralleled in the history of Samaria. Samaria was invaded by five pagan nations who installed kings. the pagan nation at the time of her encounter with Jesus was the sixth. The one yet to come would be Jesus. She said she was waiting for the messiah and Jesus told her He is that messiah.. Anyway that is the pattern in revelation describing the woman riding the seven headed beast I'm sure you know. Was wondering if you have any thoughts about that.

I am glad that you are enjoying it. When one does so much work over such a long period you often begin to doubt if it is worthwhile - after all there are so many commentaries out there and some of them are very good. The Samaritan woman "pattern" is interesting particularly the remark that the one that she was now living with was not her husband and also the connection with Jacobs well. Jacob features (is referred to) a number of times in the 4G. If you remember the story from Genesis, Jacob removed "a great stone" from the mouth of the well. This was a feat of herculean strength. When Jesus was raised (This Passover!) a great stone was removed. Anyway, the word "stone" features large in the "Jacob narrative" - he even had a stone for a pillow! Robert Alter writes an interesting book on the Art of Biblical Literature in which he comments on the recurrence of "stone" in the Jacob story as a metaphor for the hardness of Jacob's life. Anyway, later in the 4G Jesus is himself is charged with being a "Samaritan" (half-breed i.e., not a legitimate Jew). Yes, the Samaritans had "many husbands" and the "seven pattern" is significant as it reoccurs through out the Apocalypse. You will have to read further to find out about the woman! However, well observed, I will have to think about this some more.

Thank you! I hadn't considered the stone. Something interesting for me to explore.. Your work is very much appreciated by me and I'm sure many more. No need to doubt. I've been reading it for hours. Although I don't find many others who are able to conceptualize the eternal characteristic or as you say ( the rainbow being a circle if seen from above was very insightful) the vision's perspective from above. Events that have already happened, happening and yet to come. Thank you for sharing.

The rainbow (of Rev 10 Rainbow Angel) is highly significant. It was the covenant sign of mercy appointed (not made) after the flood waters "abated" after 150 days (5 months). Revelation 9 refers to 5 months of torment and both Josephus and Daniel refer to a "flood/overflowing" of destruction coming upon the city. Both Jerusalem [70] and Betar [135] (the fortress of Bar Kochba 13 miles outside the city of Jerusalem) fell after 5 months siege on the 9th of AV (both fell on the same day). This was the day on which the Babylonians had destroyed the temple in BCE 586. So, we have "repeat patterns". The Jewish nation was "cast off" and Jerusalem was declared a "Gentile city" by Hadrian and Israel was renamed "Palestine" (after the Philistines) by Hadrian. If this is not the "trampling of the outer (gentile) court" then I don't know what is. Henceforth the gospel would be preached to the gentiles it was a definitive "parting of the ways" (on this see Dunn) between Judaism and Christianity. The Jews went back to Babylon (metaphorically) where they wrote the "Babylonian Talmud" and doubled down on rabbinical Judaism.

As to the rainbow I was delighted to find out that the viewing angle had to be 42 degrees. As you know 42 is a significant number in Scripture, particularly in Revelation. It is expressed as 42 months, 1260 days and 3.5 years. It was the ancient Babylonians that devised the 360 degree circle....but how would the writer of Revelation know about the angle/light source etc. The only answer can be that the text is inspired!

Just thought of the 42 young men that were insulting Elisha saying " Go up bald head !" Elisha curses them and two she bears come out of the woods and maul them. The connection to Revelation is the two witnesses are active for the entire 42 months referenced as 1260 days. 'Go up bald head' seems a possible foreshadow of when the two witnesses lie dead in the street for 31/2 days a voice from heaven is heard "come up here" Thought that might be interesting if you haven't already noticed this pattern.

Yes, thank you. there are also 42 generations (Matthews gospel) between Abraham and Christ (3x14) and when the tabernacle was dedicated the tribes each brought gifts weighing 2520 shekels (2 x1260) and there were 42 campsites in the wilderness before reaching the promised land.
