Then all you would need to do is get your own telescope, prove them wrong and become rich and famous! What are you waiting for?

These flat-earthers believe that almost everybody is part of the conspiracy. Nor do they seek out evidence.

If there's no such thing as outer space and there's just a solid dome above the earth, where do all of these rocks come from?

You can't say they're all photoshopped trickery as you can see them for yourself if you just go outside during a meteor shower.

They're obviously pieces that have broken off of the firmament and fallen to earth (ha-ha). More seriously, perhaps it was seeing meteorite falls that led people to believe in a solid firmament in the first place.

Actually explain meteors in your own words, please. All you did was post pictures in post 1.

Let's what kind of solid PROOF there is available for meteors hitting the earth on a regular basis. There should be craters everywhere, since they "happen all the time". Let's see if the thread starter can give us more than a few still images. Unless you don't really want flat earthers proving you wrong. Every day I hear from somebody that has the guaranteed proof that will destroy the flat earth possibility but they always fall short.

Meteors are solid particles (mostly less than an inch in diameter) that are orbiting the Sun. When they collide with the Earth, they are heated by friction with the Earth's atmosphere and burn up, producing the short-lived moving light that we call a meteor. Some larger bodies (inches or feet in diameter) survive the passage through the atmosphere and reach the Earth's surface as meteorites. However, because they are decelerated by passing through the atmosphere they are moving relatively slowly when they hit the ground and produce only small impact pits, not large craters. If you look at the Moon, you will see that there are 'craters everywhere', since the Moon has no atmosphere to destroy meteors.

They're "falling stars" - everyone knows that. They occasionally get dislodged from the dome of heaven.

Meteorites are the angels throwing rocks at us. Sometimes big ones.

I've never yet seen a meteor - and I'm old. Too nearsighted in my youth and too citified in my middle-age. One night, though...when the weather is clear and the Perseids are active, I'll stay up and see.

I haven't seen one in a while, but even in severely light polluted areas you should be able to see one if you're outside, with a relatively unrestricted view of the sky. Back when I used to be outside more overnights, I'd see 2-5 random ones including a double and a bolide that broke up mid entry.

Because it's the easiest type of science denial to disprove. So it's a good place to start.

They have a significant presence on this forum.
Is it possible they are just pulling our legs? I've posed as a flat-earther once myself.

I want to hear them explain why live webcams in one part of world show that it's nighttime while it's daytime in other areas. Are all live webcams part of a giant worldwide conspiracy too?

Abu Dhabi: Corniche Beach (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates)
Mount Shasta WebCams

It looks like daytime in Abu Dhabi, but it's certainly dark outside my house at the moment. :)
