lol....oh my....how sad that you can't deal with the truth. If you ever feel like dropping the judgment and just have a discussion let me know. It would be without doubt interesting.
Fine.

What would you like us to know about you?

that isn't how this works...you drop the judgments before we talk about anything related to evolution or creation or origins at all...see that is why you need to learn to read for comprehension, because that was very clear in my post and you missed it in your zeal to try to find someone to attack for no reason.

lol your post says you haven't changed your judgmental stance...besides for which the thread topic is already decided...you know why the claim is stupid and flawed which has pretty well been covered and you among others evidenced my first objection.

The claim: "when someone understands X, they are more likely to accept X," is a false claim?

yep and there were many valid reasons why that claim is flawed starting with the premise of the claim and moving along to the conclusion.

But since you can't understand anything I say I'm sure you will try to start a fight with me over pointing out to you that many reasons were already given for why that is a flawed claim to begin with.

So, this is you trying to have an honest discussion?

lol the discussion is kind of limited by forum rules and OP. Your objection to following those rules demonstrates your refusal to have an honest discussion.

Christianity is a great example of a concept where most people that agree with it have a poor understanding of it. Any statistic I find claims that less than 50% of Christians ever read the bible all the way through. But, they are believers anyway.

So, I would think that understanding has a positive correlation with accepting a concept, but no direct causation.

It's difficult to talk to a person that makes the majority of their posts about how "impossible it is to have productive discussions". Those posts distract from actually relevant ones.

and yet your response shows exactly what I am saying. Take the christians you mention above. Those who are zealous seldom listen long enough or well enough to actually know what is being said. Just like those you talk about above. It is a huge problem when it comes to effective communication and effective communication helps to improve all understanding of any topic. That is exactly the point.

How does that apply to the OP? well as I said in my first post, those that are the unlistening zealots for evolution have no idea who really does and does not understand the ToE because they haven't taken the time to listen. Thus the claim in the OP is flawed from the get go and it only gets worse after that. As I said not long ago, it is human nature to not listen but it is vital to effective communication.

BTW, I didn't ask anyone to respond to me...there are some here who tried to judge me and start an argument with me because I pointed out that if you don't take time to listen to another person you can't judge whether or not they know the subject matter....I mean if anyone had really been listening to what I said, there wouldn't have been any responses other than "yes this is true"...but instead, there were all kinds of humorous posts trying to justify judgments of me and my post.

Name a famous person that zealously supports evolution, but clearly doesn't understand anything about it. Scientific misinformation is widespread, so it should be really easy for you to name at least 1 if this is such a problem for the theory of evolution.

A commonality between ideas people spread without knowledge is that the ideas are appealing in some regard (for example, the concept of an afterlife appeals to many). Evolution has no such appeal. Not saying that there hasn't ever been an idiotic evolution supporter, only that it isn't a particularly pervasive problem. Heck, even anti-vax stuff has appeal, because people hate getting shots, but nothing is inherently appealing about SUPPORTING the idea that humans have no special origins.

Still, in general, a positive correlation between understanding a concept and supporting it, but not direct causation.

the easiest is Bill Nye the science guy....lol

oh you are wrong about evolution not having an appeal...the most common appeal that creationists would point out to you is the absence of God. There are other appeals however, like having an answer...what I mean by that is that it is uncomfortable for most people to admit that we simply don't know. Another appeal is that we can demonstrate how...that meaning macro and micro evolution are vastly different from one another but because we can connect them we "feel good" about it. There are others but that is enough to prove my point.
Still, in general, a positive correlation between understanding a concept and supporting it, but not direct causation.
Again, I disagree. We have no idea how much someone understands until we take time to listen.

Quick story...a bit ago I was talking to a christian (yes I am a believer) who sounded like we were on the same page. However, after talking and actually listening to one another we discovered we were not on the same page at all. It is easy to say something that sounds right but really isn't and visa versa. It requires actual listening skills to understand another person...listening skills that are sorely lacking in the world as a whole and even more lacking in zealots on a given topic. You know, those that want to start a fight just so they can prove some greater intelligence than those they deem unworthy of a voice...

Amos Oz - I think - the Israeli Nobel Prizewinner, said that Israel is a land of 6 million prophets where everybody shouts and nobody listens. "I like that", he added.

I think a lot of Christian fundamentalists like it, too... :)

Not at all.

Unfortunately you've convinced yourself that having an honest, reasonable conversation here is impossible, so why stay? Your opinions are set, why beat that horse.
I’m blinded by your rage.

Have you taken the time to listen to the posters who disagree with you? Reading your responses it doesn't sound like it. The hubris of saying the only valid response to your claim is "yes this is true" is very telling ;)

Absolutely.
Totally agree with you here. I got to the point where I totally understood Christianity, and that was it for me.

Actually what you said is a very good analogy.

To those who understand evolution, they know holes of the theory are EVERYWHERE. They accepted it by faith, because there is no alternative if they do not accept God.

There are historical errors in The Bible. E.g. Luke's discussion of Pharisee Gamaliel's speech.
We know these dates from Josephus, most notably. Did it occur to you that Josephus may be in error about the dates? I don't recall any mention of calendars in the Gospels.

Also, the Bible was written in a different language in a different time. The insects and animals that were known in the region and would be applicable to the instructions given may not be what is in existence now. It is clear that their word for foul meant winged creatures.

Every atheist posts the same apparent "contradictions" from the same websites. Nothing new here.

The ToE, air tight buddy. Maybe you’re unaware?

If you have a question, you should ask.
