I was just wondering....there was a video that i just happened to see a few days ago, and when i went back to see it again, it was removed by Youtube.

Is there a way to "keep" videos, or download them or something so that if Youtube removes them, that i can still see them?

Thanks.

Yeah, there are ways to download them.
I have never done that though.
I think you can Google for it, or use DuckDuckGo in stead of Google, to find how to do it.
Maybe your browser has plugins available to record Youtube videos.

Indeed... The censors are very busy on Youtube lately...

Thanks. Yes, the censors are reeeeeal busy. The reason it was removed doesn't even apply to this video. I wonder if the Youtuber who posted it has any back-ups? (Sorry just thinkin' out loud here).

Thanks again, Hieronymus :)

.
Yes, you can try and install the browser extension, VideoDownloadhelper. Eg >Firefox >Menu >Add-ons >Get extensions >See more extensions >enter video downloadhelper in the Search box >Add to Firefox.

www.keepvid.com and www.savefrom.net are websites for downloading web-videos by copy+pasting the video's URL, eg from Youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, etc.

Thanks discipler7. If Youtube deletes the video, would i still be able to see it?

I don't believe so. You would have to find a site or person that has it saved. I have noticed the same thing lately, videos mysteriously vanishing. Looks like the nsa is hard at work...

The best way, with the most control and privacy, is youtube-dl, at GitHub - rg3/youtube-dl: Command-line program to download videos from YouTube.com and other video sites. It's a command line app, though, and there's a learning curve, though it's interesting and not too bad. There's a GUI for it also, at least for Linux.

But there are websites that will download also, the best of which is probably the new www.hooktube.com, which will also allow you to watch privately and, so far, circumvent government restrictions.

Youtube is just like this site.....all they need is for a person to report and make any allegation they choose and your post/video is removed......

There are many youtube downloaders... Just type in "free youtube downloader" in google and you will get a large list of them.

Thanks Ancient of Days.

How does the person who posted the video on Youtube, save it?

Thanks Raymond. However, if Youtube deletes the original video, would it effect all the downloads of that video?

I'm in the same boat as you, learning how to do it. Look at the post above, Raymond posted a suggestion...

Thanks Ancient. I'm just wondering if the videos that are downloaded, etc. would also disappear if Youtube deletes the original video on Youtube?

For instance, i posted a Youtube video here on CF on Saturday, and when i checked today, it was not available. It was removed by Youtube.

No, When you download it, it is a file on your computer...only you can delete it. I've used many....... But I usually download only the audio of the video so that i can listen to them offline on my ipod.

This is how you see a lot of duplicate videos on youtube.....This software is popular among those wanting to "steal" videos and repost on their own channel to gain views and subscribers..... If the video you are talking about wasnt original....this is probably why it was removed......it was reported by the original owner......

I would also agree that YT and Twitter have become exceedingly oppressive against conservatives. I personally have been shadow-banned on Twitter for a year, for criticizing its head for banned conservative accounts for no reason. It's a very dishonest way to do business, and now, ironically, the only reason I go there is to follow Trump's account. Take that, @Jack.

Prager "University" has initiated a suit again Youtube for restricting its videos. Interestingly, the suit contends that sites like YT and Twitter have become so large that they are critical to the functioning of the society, and therefore must be treated as utilities and come under government regulation, for the public good. I find it hard to disagree. I don't think we can sit back and let the tech giants take control of the nation.

The alternative would be to find alternative sites. There's Gab, for Twitter, and it's good and growing, but it's tiny in comparison. No video site has caught on to rival YT either, but they're not the only game in town.
