Joan Baez is doing a benefit concert in Tucson tonight!

It’s one of five that Baez will do for Lampedusa: Concerts for Refugees, which raise awareness and money to support expanded educational opportunities for displaced people.
Lampedusa is produced by Jesuit Refugee Service/USA, in partnership with UNHCR, the United Nations refugee agency.

Joan Baez brings activist heart, iconic music to Tucson benefit concert

Pretty cool stuff.

My wife, known affectionately in this household as the 'fox at the Fox', is working the concert as an volunteer usher. :)

When I lived in St. Louis, we had a Fox Theater, too, and I volunteered for Sunday evening performances. I saw so many Broadway touring company productions, and if ticket sales were a little slow, I sometimes got free tickets for family and friends.

The ushers had a nice sense of community--a lot of retired people (at the time I was in my late forties) and theater lovers like me.

It's so good to see performers from my generation (and even a little bit before my generation) with the same passion for justice they always had. Enjoy the concert.

Mrs. tadoflamb reports that this may be the best concert she's ever seen. Not just at the Fox. (Cat Stevens was the best for all of you are wondering).

Tonight is Steven Stills and Judy Collins.

Here's a new song Joan played the other night.

No one will ever replace the late great Harry Chapin for me. He had great Artistry and an amazing stage presence. He had a big heart and donated half of all of his income to hunger prevention. He also supported the Arts in the Long Island community and he died far too soon.
