  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The OP isn't referring to children born in the US, who are indeed US citizens according to the 14th Amendment. It's referring to illegal immigrants who came to this country when they were under 18 years old.

Yet the poll the OP made has this: then this is horrible, all these people wanted was to stay in the country they were born.

Makes it so that those not ignorant of the facts have no option in the poll if they're opposed to ending DACA.

The demise of this program could be of huge benefit to Canada. These are young people who are already motivated, can speak English well, a great many have university or college or trades education and they already know the realities of North American employment. They could be of immense benefit to Canada and one Canadian government minister has already suggested that we be prepared to accept as many as 30,000. For the sake of these people I sincerely hope that they are not deported. That would be an immense tragedy. But if the worst should happen this could be a very good thing for Canada and for those who choose to come here.
It's not particularly easy to immigrate to Canada for an ordinary working class person who doesn't have Canadian family.

I would fully support Congress passing legislation granting amnesty to those who illegally entered the US who were under 18 at the time. But it needs to be only retroactive and not ongoing, otherwise it would incentivize even more illegal immigration. That's the problem with any sort of amnesty basically. Heck, I could even get behind a general amnesty. The border needs secured and strict enforcement of immigration laws would need to happen going forward to help prevent a new illegal immigration crisis after this one is dealt with. Otherwise we will be right back where we started in 20-30 years.

Most Pro-Christian POTUS? bwahahhahaha okay he may be pandering to Christians but he isn't one.

If I said Obama was the most pro-LGBT president would you understand what I meant and agree or would you nonsensicallly reply "Obama may be pandering to LGBT people but he isn't one?"

Obama was by far much more Christian then Trump hands down.

LOL! Trump supports the sanctity of marriage, a child's right to live, the freedom to choose medical reproductive decisions (such as contraception), the right of citizens to be protected from immigrant crime, the freedom to choose health insurance plans, and a military focused on defending our country instead of conducting social experiments to appease LGBT supporters. Obama was pro-gay marriage, pro-abortion, pro-LGBT, pro-illegal immigration, and anti-choice (forced Christian employers to cover contraception in violation of Christian teaching). What has Obama done that is Christian?

Care to talk about why DACA is so problematic for the U.S.?
I am always interested in conversing with interested people.
What kinds of arguments do you think people might come up with as to why this kind of policy would be problematic.

You are making big joke?

Trump trade in each wife when she starts to get wrinkle. How is that support sanctity of marriage?

His personal life decisions are irrelevant. Trump defended Christian marriage when he appointed a Supreme Court justice that will uphold the sanctity of marriage.

The example the president of USA sets for male children across country is irrelevant? I think you not understand what you are stating.

You know for fact that Trump chose judge for stance on marriage? Please explain how you read Trump mind.

Finally is saying "Action speak louder than words". You being fooled by proven conman words and not believing your own eyes.

Because they are still criminals

You stated they were "immoral" and then went on to imply that Christians would never cross a border illegally. So I ask you again, what make their decision immoral?

"Immorality is evil, sinful, or otherwise wrong behavior. Immorality is often called wickedness and is a state avoided by good people. Since morality refers to things that are right, immorality has to do with things that are wrong — like stealing, lying, and murdering."

Hi everyone

This is my first post in this forum, I am not new here, I do read many of the posting but I never post.

This posting troubled me much enough to write. I disagree ending the DACA policy or any of Precedent Trump’s immigration policy

I don’t think anyone who support ending DACA are racist or xenophobic. Most are loving and kind people. I know many people in my life who agrees with Precedent Trump’s Immigration policy yet they are the most loving, kind and devout Christian I know. My best friend, a mature Christian who is Trump supporter, also agree with Precedent Trump’s Immigration policy . So, I know just because someone support deporting millions of people from United States, doesn’t make them racist, or none Christian.

Over and over again for past 20 years we as an American struggled with this issue. Both side of the ideological spectrum agrees that current immigration policy or lack of it needs to change and we need to do something about it. but we can’t agree on what needs to be done.

I don’t know what is good for our country, should we deport all these people or give them a chance. How can we keep sovereignty of our country, abide by the rule of law , yet show compassion. But that is a legal, social issue.

When it comes to finding answer as a Christian I don’t think there is any ambiguity.

1 Corinthians 13 - "If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing."

Scripture is filled with verses how to treat the least among us, how to treat the foreigners ( sorry it doesn’t talk about legal or illegal foreigners, but just foreigners)

Mathew 25: 34-40 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Hebrew 13: 1-3 “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”

Ezekiel 47: 21-23 ““You are to distribute this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel. 22 You are to allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners residing among you and who have children. You are to consider them as native-born Israelites; along with you they are to be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel. 23 In whatever tribe a foreigner resides, there you are to give them their inheritance,” declares the Sovereign Lord.”

Colossians 3:11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.

The above verse sums it up all. There is no nationality, no race, no illegals or legal, those who accepted Christ as their personal savior they are all part of Christ’s body.

I know those who oppose my view will find many scriptures about law and order, how we should obey the law of the land, and punish those who disobey the law. I am not disagreeing with any of those scriptures but when we look at the biblical principal and greatest commandment of all

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Again, scripture doesn’t define who is our neighbor; legal or illegal, native or foreigner, sinner or righteous, law abiding or not so law abiding. It just says “neighbor”.

I just hope next time we think about this topic and try to find a solution we just don’t think it as numbers , as a legal issue or law and order issue, or us vs them BUT as “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me”.

I saw many in this posting saying these illegals immigrate broke the law, they are criminal. Well I agree with them, but here is a truth for all of us who accepted Christ, we were all sinners and the penalty of our sins were death, yet someone came down on earth and became man and paid the penalty for ours sins. It reminds me The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant in Matthew 18:21-35.

Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”

QFT. It is rather disconcerting that Donald Trump now represents the evangelical Christian faith of the Conservative Christians who voted him and who continue to faithfully support him.
