  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

800,000 young people's lives are in the hands of leaders such as this...who can't be bothered to do the right thing:

Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), the No. 2 Senate Republican, said Tuesday that there’s “no way” Congress will consider the immigration program this month.

And Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) offered a short statement that, while backing Trump’s decision, failed to mention DACA and betrayed little interest in doing anything on immigration.

Dreamers face long odds with GOP Congress

Then the GOP gets toasted in the midterm elections -- and Donald gets raked over the coals for letting it happen in the first place.

The Republicans aren't in control. Much legislation will need Democratic votes. The Democrats should add DACA to every bill, or every bill after the debt ceiling increase is passed.

The Republicans aren't in control.

They hold the majority in both houses. That's control enough.

They should -- then the GOP will accomplish absolutely nothing.

This is ridiculous. Our Congress cannot/ will not agree on anything and they are supposed to resolve a contentious issue in 6 months? Right and I've got a bridge for sale.

DACA will end and nothing will replace it. ICE will use the information they already have to round up employed taxpayers and deport them. It won't be anyone's fault because it is a complicated situation.

Trump did a great thing by standing up for Christian values.

No, he makes an absolute mockery of Christian values.

I'm curious, before I do the legwork...

If I quote a few passages in the bible that completely obliterate your post, will you change your mind right here and right now and support measures to protect these kids?

DACA isn't a complicated issue.

True immigration reform cannot be done, but DACA can, if folks have the will.

What I meant to say is the politicians involved will say DACA is a complicated issue in order to excuse their inability to pass legislation.

Trump did a great thing by standing up for Christian values.

Dreamers need to be sent back home where they belong. If they are allowed to stay then immorality is rewarded because parents without morals who came here illegally benefit from seeing their children allowed to stay here while children of Christian parents who respect our laws don't get to live in our country. Dreamers who are deported should express gratitude for benefiting from an American education and upbringing they did not deserve and be thankful they are better off than the children of Christians who remained where they belonged.

Amen and Amen!

Obama makes statement on Trump cancel of DACA. Reminds world how lucky we were to have such a man of class and integrity to run USA.

Please take notice that not once does Obama talk about how big his crowds are.

and as usual Obama speaks like an intelligent man.

Absolutely. I'm open minded and value truth so I'm always happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

You must be referring to Barack Hussein Obama. Trump's looking to be the most pro-Christian president we've had in awhile.
ROFL
Most Pro-Christian POTUS? bwahahhahaha okay he may be pandering to Christians but he isn't one.

Bush was a better Pro Christian President then Trump and that wasn't too long ago.

Obama was by far much more Christian then Trump hands down.

They have expressed gratitude and now they want to give back to the only country they have ever known.

On what basis can you declare an entire class of people to be immoral? You certainly don't know the tough choices they had to make.

You mean if Congress has the will... they might, at least in the House -- even Ryan thinks Donald screwed up by rescinding DACA, but since McConnell supports Donald, any such bill will die in the Senate; he'll see to that.
