  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For a Christian Forum I'm amazed at the sheer amount of non-Christian responses.

I find it ironic that when the abortion debate surfaces so many Conservative Christians will move heaven and earth to save a 4 week old fetus that doesn't even have a brain yet...

However, when talking about INNOCENT CHILDREN those same Christians can't wait to transfer the sins of the parents onto the children and gleefully cast them out...

I guess there is a new new testament that I haven't gotten the memo on... :(

You're only amazed because you expected something different.

Surely you've heard the verse which reads "Know ye, inasmuch as you do for the White, American, and Republican among you, you do for me."

Wonderful news, it should have never happen obama overstepped

Good news, then -- Congress gets to do what it should've done years ago -- pass the DREAM Act -- not to keep Obama from overstepping, but to undo the damage Donald just did to the economy!

Personally I'm more amazed to see Christians endorsing the doctrine of "Lebensunwertes Leben."

I think your post deserves to be quoted for truth because I think you're absolutely right. Personally speaking, reading the responses you mentioned in this thread makes me even more thankful for the liberal Christians I know. I'm not sure what else I can say about this or further comment on what you said in your post because of the flaming rule, so I won't say anything else about either one.

How pathetic of Trump.

Agreed. However, I don't think we can expect anything better from him, because of his ongoing pandering efforts to appease his large voting base of conservative Christian supporters.

Trump did a great thing by standing up for Christian values.

Dreamers need to be sent back home where they belong. If they are allowed to stay then immorality is rewarded because parents without morals who came here illegally benefit from seeing their children allowed to stay here while children of Christian parents who respect our laws don't get to live in our country. Dreamers who are deported should express gratitude for benefiting from an American education and upbringing they did not deserve and be thankful they are better off than the children of Christians who remained where they belonged.

Where does the bible say Mexican children whose parents broke our laws should be allowd to live in America? Why should Mexicans who parents respected our laws be "punished" by having to live in Mexico?

I'm curious, before I do the legwork...

If I quote a few passages in the bible that completely obliterate your post, will you change your mind right here and right now and support measures to protect these kids?

How pathetic of Trump.
When I grew up my father love Truman "Buck Stops Here!" Father always reminded me of this if I try to avoid responsibility.

Trump has changed to "The Buck NEVER Stops Here!" Instead of accepting responsibility and doing something Trump blame someone else.

Charlottesville crisis. Instead of uniting country makes sure he not have to accept responsibility and says "Problem is from before my time!"

Trump family caught with red hand emails in lies about Russian connections. Does Trump family accept responsibility? No Trump family lies and blames media.

Trump defends Nazis and KKK. Does Trump accept responsibility? No Trump lies blames media.

Trump tells yacht sex story to large group of children. Does Trump accept responsibility? No Trump lies and says Boy Scout leader phones and says is greatest speech ever.

Always someone else fault. Always someone else to blame. Always someone else to pass buck to.

The Congress continued to do nothing for years.

Obama overstepped.

Trump reversed and put the problem back to Congress where it was before Obama overstepped. BTW, several attorneys general were ready to file suit if Trump did not act.

The answer to this is for Congressional Democrats to attach DACA to another bill that needs to be passed.

I believe that the initial Harvey money will be attached to the debt ceiling increase. After all, if the is no debt limit increase, there is no Harvey money to allocate.

Good news, then -- Congress gets to do what it should've done years ago -- pass the DREAM Act -- not to keep Obama from overstepping, but to undo the damage Donald just did to the economy!

There's a great upside to the legislature finally taking care of this -- DACA was always meant to be a temporary measure; it never included a pathway to citizenship. Perhaps Congress can fix this oversight?

I don't expect Congress to actually address it honestly.

With a long enough delay for Congress to hopefully step in and rescue America from its president.

It should have never been done as it was in the first place. Had Barack had the intestinal fortitude he would have pushed for Congress to do their job. Again, this is what happens when you rule via executive fiat instead of going by way of the legislature. I have no problem with congress implementing a system for the Dreamers, but it is their job, and not the White House's.

Then the GOP gets toasted in the midterm elections -- and Donald gets raked over the coals for letting it happen in the first place.

AP sources: Trump expected to end 'Dreamers' program

I try to avoid this section of the forum because its basically like jump into a volcano.....but.... I wanted to talk about this story. Especially because its a hot topic among christians too.

At least Trump is holding to one of his things about illegals. The Dreamer Program basically for the children of illegal immigrants. So glad hes sticking to at least some of these things he said at the start and getting rid of it.

5+ years ago I can't say I'd really care either way about this sort of program. Or illegals for that matter. I mean I'd prefer they went back home of course but I didn't have a strong view on it. Now? After bringing someone here from another country going through all sorts of hoops, money, time and emotional drainage.....it was hard but worth it. So this dreamer program is a slap in the face to those wanted to come here through legal routes.

Now I know the responses (heard it elsewhere):
"Its not their fault their parents came here illegally! Anyways they are living the american dream now and good people who do good things!"

Sorry but you come here illegally then you risk consequences for yourself and your kids (their future too). If they are upset then they should blame their parents. And just because your a good person doesn't mean the law should be like "Well they are good, lets leave them alone!". If you killed someone once (and got away with it) then became a good person later in life then got caught would it be ok for him to get away with breaking the law because "I'm good now!". Of course not.

There are others who have a VERY hard time trying to get here legally. If they even can get here. As I said its a slap in the face to them. People like my wife. And because of people like the "Dreamers" parents and now their kids, it makes the rules even MORE complex, expensive and time consuming for those bringing people here through legal routes. We pay the price for broken laws. For example if my wife wanted to bring her sister here, its a 10 year process! So she now gets to sit here with no family (blood) in america and miss home.

I know the next response is "Well what would Jesus do? Wheres your christian love?". Sorry you can't play that card whenever someone disagrees with you. Because if you want to be biblical scriptural, the bible says to obey the laws of man unless they interfere with the laws of God. Well since God doesn't say much about immigration, then we as american christians have to go be mans law in this country. Which is you have to come here through legal routes.

What would Jesus actually do if He was here in the flesh again? Well we can each give an answer but we will be twisting Jesus to how we would want Him to do what we think is right. Because this isn't the old days of when He was on earth, my only guess is maybe He would say something like "I'm sorry child (the illegal), I am sad about your situation but the law of man in this country strictly talks about these things. I cannot impose my own desire to help you because this would Me interfering with the free will of yourself and others." I'm sure He would of course encourage them.

But this is all here say of course. We have no idea what He would do. Ok sure my post is super long now (as if I make short posts lol)

Obama makes statement on Trump cancel of DACA. Reminds world how lucky we were to have such a man of class and integrity to run USA.

Please take notice that not once does Obama talk about how big his crowds are.

It should have never been done as it was in the first place.

True that -- but it was. No point whinging over it now.

Had Barack had the intestinal fortitude he would have pushed for Congress to do their job.

And they would've refused -- as they did most times Obama needed something he considered important done. Remember Merrick Garland? Remember the shutdown? Remember the 57 times they tried to repeal the ACA without so much as a clue what would happen next?

Again, this is what happens when you rule via executive fiat instead of going by way of the legislature.

It also should be noted that Immigration and Customs Enforcement serves under the DHS, which serves the executive branch. It is within the chief executive's power to instruct his departments what to prioritize... and what to put on the back burner.

I have no problem with congress implementing a system for the Dreamers, but it is their job, and not the White House's.

Noting, of course, that this is the same Congress which spent the last seven years turning inactivity into a performance art. Now Donald has decided to play chicken with them -- should they do what they do best (nothing), Donald's counting on his devotees' unquestioning loyalty to him to make the country forget that he was the one who pulled the plug on a half-trillion in GDP revenue over the next ten years.

On the one hand, it'll probably work -- he can do no wrong in the eyes of his faithful. On the other, playing chicken is one of the few sports where the final outcome doesn't matter -- the winners and losers are equally idiots.

Trump's Evangelical advisory board members claim credit for the 6 month delay:

“We are responsible for this extension is offering. That’s our work,” said Tony Suarez, executive vice president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference.

Suarez said he and NHCLC President Samuel Rodriguez have worked on behalf of the so-called “dreamers” since the advisory board was formed during the presidential campaign last summer and stepped up pressure on the White House last week, making calls and delivering letters signed by Hispanic pastors to the president. Then, on Friday, a handful of the evangelical pastors met with Trump. At that Oval Office meeting, which neither Rodriguez nor Suarez was able to attend, Jentezen Franklin, a white pastor from a multiethnic church near Atlanta, made a personal plea to the president on behalf of the dreamers.

“I shake their hands at the end of my sermons,” Franklin said he told the president. “I stand and shake hands for hours: I pastor the dreamer kids.”

....

“We will not distinguish between Republicans and Democrats but between those who stand for righteousness and justice and those who do not. . . . It is the job of Congress to make laws, and now the President has provided Congress a six month window to legislate a more permanent and legally defensible solution for DREAMers.”
